To those who like chapters in stories you favorite you are the true heroes.

I don't understand why someone would favorite a story that has multiple chapters and then not click a single like button. I appreciate the favorite but can you give me some likes too? Just a pet peeve of mine.

 

Personally I try to be generous with likes, if I enjoy what I read it gets a like. What you have to take into consideration is that most people use the favorite story as a way to follow it and get notifications.

But I totally agree that it is raging when you have nearly 300 people that hit favorite and 12 likes on a first chapter. Before starting to write I was more used to lurk around and read without giving likes, as a writer I learned how important it is to see that people enjoy your work to continue and get some motivation.

 

If Someone likes your story enough to favorite it surely there is a chapter or two they like enough to throw a like to.

 

Personally I am of the opinion that the favorite story and bookmark chapter options should only be available on chapters you have liked.

 

Agree with you guys. Although, the real superheroes, in my opinion, are the ones who leave a comment. A comment is worth more than a dozen likes, at least to me.

 

I agree. Comments are great because they act as readers notes and let you know exactly what is working. Which helps your subsequent chapters be better.

 

I don't care about likes. I don't care about Favourites. Personally i am conservative about giving those out.

However i do fucking love comments. Comments are the greatest thing COMMENT MORE! I WANT TO KNOW WHY YOU LIKE SHIT NOT IF YOU LIKE SHIT! ALL HAIL TO THE AGE OF COMMUNICATION!

 

I love comments as well, but I feel kind of awkward about leaving them...
There are only so many ways you can say "This are hot. It give me boner" without looking like a weirdo lol

 

Sometimes I bookmark a story as a way to get notified when new chapters are added to it. This is especially true for new stories that have only an intro and 1 or 2 other chapters but show a lot of promise/potential.

Other times I will bookmark a story when I want to read it, but don't have the time to read it at that precise moment (usually if it is a long story). Adding it to favorites reduces the odds of me forgetting about it.

 

Would lie if i said i am with you there. Commenting is the easiest thing in the world to me, you just write down the fuck you think about things. Might be because i have fully embraced being a weirdo (I write porn ffs)

 

I would say point out what made it hot to you. Don't worry about looking like a weirdo. You are reading stories designed to give you a boner so if we succeeded tell us.

 

I get too engrossed in stories and forget to like until I run out of chapters, then i go back and like each one individually if i want more its a bad system but my brain doesnt work all the way.

The depression you feel when someone bookmarks all your chapters instead of liking them :'(

 

I Disabled the bookmark notifications when I was starting writing a few month ago just because of that. A few readers were bookmarking everything. I even ended messaging such a me of them to tell them they had confused the two systems.

 

So I have found out that asking people to click the thumbs up button works a lot better than asking them to like your chapters.

 

I guess that could have something to do with how the button resembles a thumbs up rather than a like?

I usually just forget the like button exists, but I have several stories with amazing chapters that I go to often to read over. I love getting comments but I am somewhat weary about giving them because once I asked for a writer to keep up a thread that had really got my attention and the reply was basically "do it yourself!" If that was what I wanted I would do so, but I was enjoying that author's writing style and meant it as a compliment when I asked to see how things would progress.
