"I'm sure you'll find me a more than adequate student, professor~" Yumi can't help the teasing lilt in her whisper despite the tense duel still ongoing. "Apologies. Not the time for that." She clears her throat. "How well do you know Adam? He's still raw, but he's...competent."
"H-huh, what!?" Felicia gasped hearing the second voice, B-breed her? I-I can't do that! She screamed in her mind, pointing out that not only is she unequipped do to it, she's also unwilling to go that far. But as she feels the shadow wants a more concrete answer. "I want her to make sure she won't backstab us while helping us out in this place. So, uh, I suppose enslavement?" She replied, not even sure if it'll work. Her attention then switches to Michio as her companion acts surprised, "Huh? So you don't remember what happened?" Felicia asked blushing a bit, "The cultist was, uhm, touching you while you were frozen." She mumbled, "But never mind that, I already beat her in a shadow duel, so now she should do what I ask." The red-head said in an unsure tone as she looks at the nun.
"Mmm...well, the story isn't quite as exciting as anything you might be imagining. I work with his parents researching these kinds of things. Nothing...quite as eventful, as this. Though, the spirit realm can be pretty dangerous all on it's own even without all this. I just taught Adam how to play and wanted to grow his abilities a bit. I still didn't really expect them to be as strong as they are even if he hasn't properly trained his power yet. I always thought I was something like an aunt or older sister. I don't know if he really thinks about it like that. Though I like to think we're close. A bit too haughty too be my type." Julia froze, as she caught the last thing she said. Despite everything from her mouth that comes unfiltered, the last sentence was clearly something she just said without thinking. A little awkward. She might already have something in mind for him one day, but it was still kind of weird to actually think about. Especially in any serious sense. "Obviously I care about all of my students, but it would be a lie to say he isn't a special case. I made it so that his entrance exams were all done by his own skill, if that helps you."
[Blast Sphere gets added to his hand, but Adam can't technically Set it until the turn passes back to him. Normally, a player can't Set monsters (or other cards) during the opponent's turn, but, like anything else in YGO, there's cards which allow it. I'll apply Poker Face and Dominating to the next turn roll.] The nun sets a spell or trap face down before ending her turn, handing the initiative back to Adam. Spoiler: Turn 4 Roll Adam 73=73 good Nun 39-10(Poker Face)-20(Dominating)=9 very poor [Now that it's Adam's turn, he can Set Blast Sphere, or use his newly drawn card (which, as determined by the Turn roll, should be a useful one) to go with a different idea if he wants. Keep in mind that Destroyersaurus is still on the field with 2100 ATK because of Jurassic World. Sorry if this feels too handholding. Say the word and I'll stop.]
[ [No, it's fine] Inwardly, Adam grins as he sees the card he just drew - King of the Swamp. Still, he visibly cringes and keeps up his act of seeming distraught and worried, summoning Blast Sphere face down with a look of irritation that he didn't get a better card. Sighing, he ends his turn.
You have...servants who can...An image of the Inzektors, still standing on the battlefield, flashes in her mind. Or I can...grant you...the anatomy... The shadow's voice doesn't audibly reply, but Felicia suddenly feels that the nun is bound to her will, unable to disobey the scarred student. "What do you mean 'touching me?!'" Michio shouts, weaving through the table to the other side of the expansive ballroom to retrieve her sword from where it fell to the floor. "I'm definitely getting revenge for that!" The heavily wounded cultist snaps awake as the shadows begin to fade away into nothingness. "Yes...I will do as you command." She groans from the floor.
Yumi gives Julia a knowing look. "I cannot blame you for wanting him. He is quite handsome. Too proud for my liking, though. I prefer men to be more submissive." She seems lost in thought for a second. "In any case, what is this spirit realm, exactly? Are we currently within it?"
Huh, they're still here? Felicia's eyes widen as she saw the monsters wearing insect motifs for their armor pop into her mind. Grant me the... y-you can't possible mean!? And upon hearing the second options, she goes red not even wanting to consider it thanks to her prudish nature. No! Calm down, I'm... we're not here to breed anyone! Felicia replies to the strange voice in her head, just as the feeling of complete dominance toward the nun sets. Hearing Michio's anger, Felicia could relate to it, "Wait! I mean, I understand, but... we could use her for something else... for now at least." She tries to calm down her companion as she saw Michio pick up her sword. The red-head turns to the nun, "Can you stand? Tell us your name, and who's in charge of this cult." Felicia asked a question, and gave an order, wondering if they'll be answered, and obeyed.
"I'll draw!" The nun begins her turn, looking as confident as ever. "Destroyersaurus, rip his monster apart!" The dinosaur charges Adam's face down Blast Sphere as the card reveals itself and attaches to the ferocious creature. The bomb's claws embed into the prehistoric animal's scales, preventing the nun from doing any damage to the Frenchman. "Damn it. I'll end my turn." Spoiler: Turn 5 Roll Adam 24=24 poor Nun 74-10(Poker Face)=64 good [Ideally, whatever Adam draws for this next turn shouldn't be immediately useful, but it can be something which helps out later, and it should be something which actually can play a useful role in his deck. Poor rolls are a decent time to draw a strong monster which you can't get onto the field yet or a piece of a combo which you don't have any of the other cards to use yet.]
Adam lets his frown transform into an amused smirk. "Whoops. I forgot Blast Sphere does that. Silly me..." Adam draws Aleister the Invoker, satisfied as it will help his strategy in a few turns. For now, he summons nothing. Spoiler: Aleister the Invoker "And with that, I end my turn."
Service is...also acceptable...for now...An image of the nun, years older and bearing a round, pregnant belly, fills Felicia's mind for a moment before it, and the voice, begin to fade like the shadows which surround the women. But...you must breed...or you will...be bred... Michio runs back to Felicia and the cultist, sword in hand. She points the tip of the blade in the fallen woman's direction, though the swordswoman keeps her distance. "Fine. This better be good." The nun unsteadily rises to her feet, her white dress ripped and torn, struggling to conceal her prodigious assets. "I am Dinah. I report to Carley." She answers without hesitation, though the pain from her wounds causes her to wince as she speaks.
"As far as I can tell, no. Though, this location seems particularly sensitive to it which I suppose is why they used it." She wasn't too sure about the specifics of here, mostly focusing on that than offering a response to her thoughts on Adam's appeal. "If we were in it now, I think I would know. You wouldn't even really need to be able to sense duel spirits to see them then. Especially not your own. I haven't heard anything or seen anything more from Valkyrus than usual, so it doesn't seem the connection is quite that strong outside of the sense of shadow games....but the spirit realm doesn't really like to stay in one place. It's entirely possible this location is at the very least, sometimes, within it.....the most common example is usually during the climax of a lunar cycle, but that's far from the only condition to act as a catalyst. My assessment is while it can be subjected to moving between the threshold, at least some of the time, the conditions for that to happen aren't happening now." Julia as she offered her input veered into using more academic words than she typically used. She obviously knew them, but it was rare for her to actually seem to talk so seriously about any subject.
Hearing the strange voice's last words, Felicia goes red, especially with the image of the cultist that popped in her mind. W-what!? She gasped as the voice and image fades from her mind. N-no, no, calm down. Calm down, there's no way that was serious. She shakes her head, trying to forget about the warning. But as the nun, Dinah replied, "She... actually obeyed." Felicia was shocked, "Carley, so that's who we need to defeat for all this to end." She makes a note of the name, however, the red-head recalls why she and Michio were here in the first place. "The cards you stole, take us to where you keep them."
"You have something planned, don't you, birdbrain?" The nun smirks. "Fine. I'll draw!" Blast Sphere explodes, blowing Destroyersaurus into pieces. The blast nearly throws Adam's opponent off her feet at it damages her severely. Still, she soldiers on with 4300 Life Points. "I'll summon Black Ptera, and it'll attack you directly!" Spoiler: Black Ptera Does Adam want to use his Magic Cylinder to intercept the attack?
"Your perception is incredible." Adam mocks his enemy, grunting as he lets the creature attack him directly.
"So there's much more to this magic than simply knowing the incantations. How did you discover it, then?" Yumi asks, wondering aloud. "And does this mean Parshath has been the one guiding me if Valkyrus is your spirit?"
“Unless, I see it, I can’t tell you for sure. But if that’s the first card that comes to mind before any others of one that would look out for you…I think there’s a strong possibility.” With that in mind Julia started to try and get a sense for Yumi, signalling for her to display it. “It’s easier to read if you get the card out.”
"Most are stored in the basement vault. I shall take us there." Rather than walk through the mansion's network of hallways, Dinah begins casting a spell. Felicia's connection to the woman helpfully informs the student that her servant is casting a spell of teleportation. Within a minute, the three women are whisked into another room. Spoiler: Vault "The boxes should be unlocked if you wish to search them." Dinah explains.
"A vault... just how many have you nuns stolen." Felicia mumbles, "Right take us there." She nods, wincing a bit at the prospect of walking with her cuts and bruises. Until she felt a strange connection inform her of what Dinah was planning. "Wai-" Before she could finish, their surroundings change from a ball room, to a large vault. "H-holy shit, we... we just teleported!" She gasped, looking around, and checking if her limbs were all still there. While her new, strangely obedient nun informed her of where they were. "Boxes... right, er, good job." Felicia nods, "I don't suppose there are any security protocols in there? Or if anyone would walk in on us while we're searching?" She asked, just to make sure they won't get locked in on the off chance they tripped an alarm or something. Felicia just couldn't be sure what to expect with these cultists now that they've shown how real magic is...
The monster bites into Adam's shoulder, ripping the flesh. His Life Points fall to 7000. "Hmm. I'll set a card, and I'll end my turn here. I can't wait for you to see what I've got up my sleeve, peacock." The nun taunts as she passes her turn. Spoiler: Turn 6 Roll Adam 72=72 good Nun 26-10=16 poor [With what Adam has in his hand in mind, what could he draw which lets him do something pretty strong?]
