Is it possible to cheat/edit variables in 'game mode' stories?

Tinkering with and modding and generally messing about with games is one of my favorite things to do, and i can't help but want to do it in chyoa game mode stories too.

So i wonder if it's possible at all? I know, for example, in twine based browser games you can open the console and manually change lots of stuff. Is anything like that possible with game mode?

This isn't officially possible. You can add link chapters to your own stories that allow you to tweak variables during a game mode session. If you want them to be private, just don't publish them.

I fiddled around with the console for about an hour trying to find something, but no luck. I expected data to be stored in localStorage and/or sessionStorage and/or cookies, but while there's a lot of data in there, nothing points to story variables. At least: not that I can find.

I'm beginning to think (or possibly worry) it might all be done server-side.

Right now, it is not really possible to cheat.
