The way the current “rating” sorting option is set up, it only looks at number of likes in a story. That means when you sort by “rating” you pretty much inevitably get the same stories as searching by chapter depth or number of views. I propose for consideration a new sorting scheme: Percentage of likes. Divide number of likes by number of views. Most of the story’s on Chyoa get between 1 like or 4 likes per every hundred views. A sorting scheme like this could really help expose great stories that have low amounts of views.
Please post suggestions in the Suggestions subforum. To vote for a suggestion, like the initial post of the thread. Not necessarily. Chapter depth doesn't matter much at all. Though more chapters usually mean more Likes per story, so more chapters might lead to a higher rating. The problem with the number of views is that any access to the page is counted as one view, regardless of who opens it and why. So while a chapter in a game mode story with many loops can (and maybe have to) be accessed several times, it can only be liked once. Views from users who can't like because they aren't logged in are counted the same way as views from web crawlers. Thus, I would prefer a rating Likes per Unique View Also see Story and Chapter Ranking: Likes per Unique Views (There might also be more suggestions regarding rating.)
