Like this? Yulia Maple Goma Isalia Sally Lri Talwa'Ish Renni Cherciel Lemiel Rebecca "Beck" Hardcliff
I would put Sally lower. She is still a bit iffy as far as allegiances are considered. So her and Beck at the bottom, followed by the angels and then rest
Considering it was a close run thing with our side even more depleted than this, I think we will be fine with a neutral battlefield, unless there are more tricks to come. Potions (per previously) in mouths at let's get started. Yulia is held up by a (one) vine, if we can sever that she will be back in the fight. Goma has the relevant dagger, so not sure how helpful that is. Maple could try putting a shot through it, but it may be more important to keep the pressure on Alide. Yulia may just need to hang in there (pun intended), drinking health potions in excess may allow her to fight to some extent. She is supposed to have the halo so even in a mistake we have insurance, although I would really rather not use it. Otherwise much the same as the previous plan seems good. Sally and Beck can add in some close up granades. Dhalia has pressure and ice rain, so use that if it can avoid friendly fire. In more detail: Cure potions in mouths (swallowed as appropriate) everyone has an excess so use them freely. Yulia, spam potions as required, but if the health drain is too much you should stop trying to fight. If you can fight, start with undermine (if it isn't just overridden by pressure), then blizzard, then cycle through the offencive spells, cure other people as required. That said, undermine might not work because status immunity. Using Open to strip her could also be intresting, but probably no more than a distraction given she seems to summon most of her tools. Cherchiel, ball mode and charge. Don't leave her with time to do anything. Use weapons as needed. Goma, puppet her, use the horn, then see if you and your knife can be any use to Yulia. You can also try puppet with different commands, anything to disrupt her. Isalia, life drain and plasma rifle when you can. But I want you on spare potion duty, I don't want to bet on everything going perfectly so if anyone needs a potion and can't self administer your job is to help them. Lri, go invisible of course. Use the plasma rifle at an opportune moment. Lemiel, you have the rifle, blades, and angelic rays. Heavenly soothing as an extra backup cure. Maple, plasma rifle and rail gun, with the targeting helmet. Shoot her (obviously), but you can also try shooting the vine (or the bulb) holding up Yulia. Sally, charge in there similar to Cherchiel, but you have the neddel mace (hopefully it works) and close in grenades. Talwa, magic armour, then rotate through the fire spells. Use potions as required to keep your mana up ect. Beck, same as Sally, close range grenades. Dhalia, pressure and ice rain. Shame we don't have a large undead army to take advantage of those stacks of mana, maybe we can take advantage of that if we do meet Moragana.
Oh great. For fucks sake, Yulia Yulia doesn't have the Halo, we have that one on Cherchiel...for some reason. We probably should switch that up at some point, because Cherchiel dying is extremely unlikely Anyways, we basically have two options here We can just focus on Alide and let Yulia enjoy her fetish. It tends to be forgotten but Yulia is undeath. She won't die. Or we split our forces, trying to free Yulia while fending off Alide. I'm pivoting towards the second option. Not because I'm worried about Yulia but because I feel we might need her in this fight. So I suggest the following The plant is a plant so fire should work. Talwa hit that thing with a Firestorm, don't worry about Yulia, she's immune to offensive magic. In addition, I also like Goma to attempt puppet on the plant and get it to release Yulia. Once Yulia is free we need her to immediately undermine and energize and join the team against Alide with her spells. Don't think you get to rest just because you got captured! As for the rest of the strategy, I agree with Boo
I'm sure we had Yulia take the halo, but I can't for the life of me find it now. And using firestorm on the plant (that is indeed a plant) should be easy as it is wide area magic so that sounds like a good option 1.
Do we even know that halo works with Yulia, her being undead? A single shot from plasma rifle would probably be enough to sever a single vine, but firestorm should work, too.
Newest Chapter: Alide's Trump Card Apologies if anyone saw the accidentally early published version that just had the calculations and none of the story.
Boooo!! Where's the personification of the tower itself so I can jumpkick them off the frigging rooooff?!! Ehhhhhhh!!! *Yeets a giant fireball at a poor random tree.* You know what? It's not so bad. If Yulia wins, some cool stuff happens? If Yulia loses? I hope there will be a spicy defeat scene for all the remaining gals. Yeah. I will admit, I am not a fan of Yulia, she's a darn pruuude, boring! You could blow her up 20 times and she will just call you a meanie instead of turning your ass into a tomato. At least she is cute and like 90% of the tower wants to bully that cake.
Okay, with Alide's magic resistance, rather than magic Yulia should use Open Sesame and the Plasma Rifle to deal her damage. That said, Blizzard should at least slow Alide down so that's worth opening with. We may even have to bust out the rapier if Alide chooses to close the distance. I think we're just going to have to hope for the dice to be merciful this time.
As we are being all polite, can I ask a question. If you didn't want to fight, were you required to encourage us to fight you or are you just having a last moment change of heart? Anyway, on the subject of Open, I don't like a fair fight so can we use Open to just leave and go back to our allies? Knowing there is a second phase we can be better prepared next time round (namely by having all the best gear), and deal with the pregnancy. Getting one or more ally in would also work. If we can't just leave, Open and attack with plasma rifle is a good start. Without other people there are several potential game ending threats, so I'm really wishing we had that auto administered potion, normally administered potions should be fine and there is no shortage. Realistically I think we would need to rely on some level of offencive magic, she isn't immune to it plus the tech suit and faithless boost our magic (for reference our weakest spell unboosted had a small effect), so Blizzard, then rotate through the other 5 plus undermine. We also have incendiary and fragmentation grenades, and the grenade launcher, so we should use those. I doubt a battle of attrition will be in our favor, but if you need to disengage, you have cloak and smoke grenades. I'm not sure flash or aphrodisiac granades are going to be much use here, or at least I can't think of a way to use it.
Alide has a rating of 65, but Yulia is immune to ranged attacks and offensive magic which should lower that rating drastically. I think Yulia going all out has this one in the bag. Buuuuut. I actually really like the open and leave strategy lol If we can do that we don't really have to kill Alide, right? We can just keep beating her down, leave through Slayers Gambit until we beat the final boss. We won that last battle with -95 after all. That's like having an angry Puppy bark at you while you do your taxes. You wouldn't kill a puppy, you sick fuck, right? But that all depends if open even works to get us out of here. Anywaaays, Alide, totally unrelated to everything going on, but since we are having question time: Have you ever lied to us?
Well, the whole point of even fighting Alide to begin with was to get whatever reward is for killing all the floormonsters. In every point we have been told that it means killing Alide, that no other means of defeating is enough.
I'm kinda disappointed there wasn't a line about guzzling potions in the calculations. Anyway, We absolutely do have to kill her, I suppose you can ask some questions first if you want to but I can't think of any. If you aren't convinced I suspect Dhalia has seen what happens if you don't at least once. After that I want to glance into the next domain and if it is Lydia see if she can help us and if not we reverse course to the important door at the start and open it.
There's something I've wondered about, an option I've considered since we realized Alide was the final floor monster. I don't think I've mentioned it, partly because I wasn't sure if it would even work and partly because I didn't want us saving a vital item and dying without using it. But given the circumstances here, could we give Alide the halo? Give it to her, kill her in the gentlest way possible, and then she comes back after dropping the last vial? Would that satisfy her role as the Chosen Slayer? Would that fulfill the challenge? Would she no longer be obligated to kill us? This is probably a question for Dahlia, since she's required to tell us the truth now.
Erm. Dahlia is not with us right now. I'm afraid we can't ask her that question. But it would make sense, unless tower itself prevents that from working. (Hah. Engin is about to regret handing out fancy items even more. xD It was already bad with all the potions, but this is next level.)
