The sensation is overpowering, and instant, and Seri groans audibly as her eyes rove over the array of cheap and cheerful food; her nostrils flare as she inhales the scents. She wanders closer to the stands, taking in the sensations, torturing herself with the aromas and sounds of sizzling food. She opts for something cheap and bound to fill her up for the time being, an enjoyably messy hunk of meat impaled on a skewer, gleefully exchanging credits for the fix, delighting in another little victory.
A brief jolt of panic ran through Nami – had she let it show somehow that something had happened – ? There was no way she could tell anyone. They’d know it was her own fault, that she’d only got what she deserved. Putting on the best smile she could, she moved forward to quickly hug Kaelaen, trying to mask her hesitation with genuine relief. “Fine – I’m fine! I was just worried that— It’s good to see you! How is everyone on board?”
The large alien smiles, giving her a couple of sticks with food - Serif can make out some kind of lizard meat screwed alternately with some kind of plants. The meat was little overdone and plants, she could tell, were little to old - but the dressing carried on the meal. Well, it was something she should except in city... Still, for this price, it was a worthy acquisition. She looked around, and realised she was approaching her quarters - the bar she was staying in...
Spoiler: Persuasion 18 Vs DC 10 - success The lie easily slid through her lips, and it seemed to put the Echani at peace. "I am glad!" Kaelaen sighted with relief. "Ah, the old junk made it this far without falling apart, so I guess it's alright~" She laughed as she waved at the ship. "Actually, it's holding pretty decently... Just there is little beds beside the cells - but even a floor is preferable." She continued explaining.
Seri let’s out a low exhale, feeling an ebbing away of the mix of excitement and tension that she’s been carrying with her on her little jaunt. for what was supposed to be a small, focused shopping session, things have been a little more frenetic. But given the way things usually seem to go for her, she’s been lucky - it looks like things are finally starting to turn her way. She makes her way back over to the bar, entering at a leisurely pace, her eyes wide and searching for Kaangor, hoping for some news.
Olena smiled as she saw the two specialists - now if only she could remember their names at that moment. Undeterred, she approached with a jaunt and a broad smile. "Comrades! Mission from Lieutenant Adot, going for a walk, taking a night on the town, maybe give the Imps a headache or two along the way. Bringing a couple other boys with. Interested?"
Nami nodded, shivering at the thought of having to sleep in those cells, with everything they represented. “I can understand that,” she said. “We’ll have to talk through what comes next with everyone. But first of all, I should see to that woman who was still unconscious. Do you know if there’s been any change in her condition?”
The door slid open as Seri made her way into the bar - Spoiler 10 vs dc 10 - success and she had to stop at the scenec before her. There were various people, men, women, aliens, all with blasters out, aiming at each other. The moment she entered several glanced at her, two even aimed at her. "Who the kriff are you!?" A Zabrak female called, her hand shaking a little as she aimed her blaster at Seri.
The two glanced at each other - the big one gave a few noises, something akin to tapping sounds made by a water species she heard once. And she absolutly could not make out the language. "Well, I don't know..." the man addressed his companion, who answered in the alien tongue. "Oh... alright." Both turned to Olena. "Yeah, we might be interested." He grumbeled. "As long as we stay away from the heart of action!" He raised his finger. "Ggugh ghur." The big one addressed the human. "Hey! Just saying!" He replied. "Better to be safe than sorry!" "Ggugh ghur, gugh'hu hu-hut ghur." "That was not - never mind." the human shook his head, then turned to Olena. "Yeah, sure. What you need us for?" He asked.
Kaelaen hesitated a little. "The Zeltron, yes?" She asked to make sure she got it right, as she turned and waved her hand, inviting Nami inside the ship. She could make out a familiar pilot waiting at the end of the ramp, waiting for them.
“That’s right,” Nami said, following along towards the ramp. “I’ll need to assess her, but if we can move her over to my ship—” She smiled as she recognised the pilot. “Jura! Hello again.” It occurred to her that it hadn’t really been all that long since she saw them; but with what she’d experienced in that time, it felt like an eternity. She couldn’t help but show her relief at the reunion.
Olena tapped her chin as the duo before her carried on a conversation in two separate languages. Perhaps the engineer had some kind of translation implant? Well, that was beyond her concern, she had things to do! "Well, I don't plan on tangling with the Imps, but you never know. Do you guys know anyone else that would want to come with?"
Seri stifles a yelp of dismay as she finds herself right in the middle of an armed stand-off. She freezes up for a moment, eyes wide, stuck between the urge to draw her own weapons, or hoist her arms into the air. Grappling with her wits, she opts for a compromise, meeting the Zabrak’s angry gaze with her palms held out. Of course, she realises too late that her attempt at appearing innocent and peaceful is hampered somewhat by the blaster over her shoulder. “I’m -!” She starts, faltering, casting her eyes about - where the kriff is Kaangor? - “I’m no-one, just, just wandered in off the street.” She manages a sheepish grin, backing up a step, “I’ll just… leave you all to… this.”
"Hey there boss-woman. As you see, we made it in one piece!" Jura smiled as she walked up to Nami and reached out her hand. "How are you doing?" She asked, looking Nami over.
The man chuckled. "I doubt you will find anyone who would not want to blow up some imps after that disaster. Are you looking for someone specific, or just a number of people to make some noise?" The engineer asked.
As she looked around, she found Kaangor by the counter, holding a blaster rifle and aiming at... she could not even tell at who. Spoiler: Persuasion 10 - succsess As she raised her hands, and slowly moved back, the Zabrak quickly turned to the side, aiming a blaster at someone else. The doors closed, as Seri stepped back - she was back at the main street...
“Much better, now that you’re all here!” Again Nami tries to breeze past the question. “How are your supplies holding up?” Immediately she regrets asking, but she needs to know. If they’re short on fuel or food, they’ll need to buy more, which costs credits – something she has fewer and fewer of now…
Jura winces. "Bad. We have some grub for a few more days, but..." "But the previous owner counted on selling us in no more then a few days, and stocked accordingly." Kaelaen finished. "But, for the next few days we should be alright." "Any ideas on how to get funds for the supplies, boss?" Jura asked after a sight.
"Well, we could do a bit of blowing up Imps on the way out. As a treat," Olena cheekily responded, sticking her tongue out mischievously. "As for who? No one in particular. I just want a couple of folks who are smart enough to play things safe. Ideally, at least one human besides you, in case we need someone to sweet talk."
Seri lets out a sharp gasp of relief as the doors close in front of her, her mind reeling. She can’t leave Kaangor alone with that many guns pointed at him. It wouldn’t be right and besides, she needs his help. She’ll be back to square one if he catches a blaster bolt to the face. But she barely knows how to use the weapons she has, and she can’t just charge back in. Thinking, her mind whirring, she searches around for any power outlet she can find - or a similar port - anything she can hook her slicing gear up to, to perhaps give the bartender an advantage in there.
