Hi, came back after a lot of time to take a look at this awesome website I have to ask this just out of curiosity. After a little reseach I understood why I couldn't find a specific story I remembered was in my favourites (had to check the wayback machine), nothing major but had its fun bits here and there. The user (https://web.archive.org/web/20211127021431/https://chyoa.com/user/eldcx) I guess has been deleted. The story was up from 2021 till the end of 2025 at least. So, the questions is: do we lose the stories if the author's account get deleted? Or this is a specific case where the stories had to be deleted? TY
No. If a user deletes their account, the story/chapter won't show the "by [user]" anymore. If a user deletes the story (before they delete their account), the story is gone. (As they are the copyright owner of their own writing, they are free to do so.)
Ah, that's it then. Wasn't sure about the copyright ownership but I was expecting it to be the case. (but what if there are multiple authors\contributors to the story?) Thanks for the quick answer.
Well, preferably, the story owner gives them time to back up their content. (If not, Friedman should still be able to restore their content.) I could imagine there could be a feature that moves chapters deleted by other users into a story that only the chapter author has access to.
