You'll start with a higher corruption score but sure. Why not? It is the Warp after all.

ADDENDUM: An edit was made to the "Characteristic Scores" of my earlier post.

I have decided on an Apostate character, so can you please explain what the Apostate talents and the commerce skill do? (I have Dark Heresy, so I know how the skills/equipment work).

    So...

    1. Working on my Heretek character. Slowly. Researching it carefully. Does rarity matter when taking cybernetic implants to account? Additionally, no amount of googling can find something that offers an explanation about Armour Monger or Weapon Tech talent.

    2. Not sure if I did the reputation roll properly. I totaled out at 24.

Did I dice roll properly? I divided by 2..so...5. Then added 19. 24. Am I missing something here?

Normally yes, but for the Heretek's two free cybernetics it only specifies rarity not scarcity (that seems like an oversight but I'm not going to correct it (I told you I'd try to make this easy on you)). So you can pick whichever ones you'd like. I will be posting a complete list of the armoury eventually once I get there. But if you're doing your research just post (or PM me) what you're thinking and I'll cross-check it with the rulebook. If it doesn't line up I'll search for the closest thing and run the option by you, if that doesn't work for you I may just rule what you'd like as good and we can go from there (Gah! That's one of the things I love about being the GM, the Power... THE ABSOLUTE POWER!!! THE UNIVERSE IS MINE TO COMMAND TO CONTROL!!! (Bonus nerd points if you know what movie that's from ;))).

That was absolutely 100% correct. You're character has a Reputation Score of 24. Nicely rolled!

Black Crusade tried to streamline a lot of the skills, talents, and traits in regards to the three games before it (Rogue Trader, Dark Heresy, and Deathwatch respectively), or so I read somewhere in one of the reviews of the game. Like the Armoury I will be posting a complete list of the Skills, Talents, Traits and Psychic Powers eventually but as for your specific question sure.

    COMMERCE (Intelligence)
Commerce is an understanding of wealth, value, and exchange and how to use it to either make coin or procure goods and services for the best price possible. This Skill covers everything to do with deal making and business from bartering over chickens to engineering interstellar trade agreements and ensuring a healthy profit. Commerce also includes an understanding of the value of things and can be used to appraise items or evaluate something's potential worth. It is important to note that this skill is used to get a better price. Acquisition tests are always rolled using Reputation. However, using this skill to appraise an item's value or haggle with the seller can improve your eventual acquisition roll.
When Commerce is used against an opponent (such as to broker a trade deal or haggle over a piece of gear) it is always an Opposed Test. Commerce opposes and is opposed by either Commerce or Willpower.
Skill Use: One minute on average, longer for complex deals.

As I stated above I will be posting the talents list, unfortunately I'm only halfway through it right now. But it is coming. I promise.

I'm getting ready for bed, but, I'm debating either a Champion or a Sorceress, thoughts? (Either way, will be a mildly-but-devotedly Slaanesh affiliated Female Space Marine from the Alpha Legion...)

Do you have any plans for the kind of game this is going to be?

As in are you planning on a more combat focused deal or more intrigue focused?

I am only asking so I have a guide on the kind of char to make since I naturally tend more towards the Murder Hobo end of things when left alone.

Also, is it alright if I just Gen my char from the actual rulebook.I have it to hand and it is faster to flick through than reading this.

Well then, it seems we're an Alpha Legion warband...
To answer your question - I'm not sure. A Sorceress would give us a pskyer, which is important, but a Heretek and an Apostate will probably be rather squishy...

Like @GenericEditor168 said, I'm not sure. Both the Champion and the Sorceress provide combat ability as well as much needed tanking power for the group. One thing I was going to mention eventually in the rule post area is that after you've picked your archetype and characteristic scores, Human characters gain 1,000 experience points to spend on Skills and Talents meanwhile Astartes characters get 500xp. If you want to play as a Psyker but like the Champion's starting abilities better, you could just choose the Champion as your archetype and then spend 250xp to gain the Psyker Talent. You only get a Psy Rating of 1, and one free power instead of the Psy Rating of 2 and 500xp worth of Psychic Powers though; not to mention the loss of the Force Weapon (although this is negated somewhat by the Power Sword). The real difference is that the Champion is more classically oriented combat based while the Sorceress is almost exactly like Darth Vader. Ultimately though it comes down to what base abilities do you like more, because you can always acquire the other's.

Ultimately how much combat will be in it is entirely based upon the team and what you decide. There will be a handful of scenarios which will include combat, but as the GM part of my job is to react to what you guys decide to do. If you use your skills and talents in unique and creative ways you can bypass a lot of combat (and earn a lot of extra XP in the process if the methods fit with your characters). Or if you want to be a murder hobo you can see a lot more action that what I may have planned. I realize that might not be the answer you're looking for but it's the best and most honest one that I can give.

If you have the Core Rulebook (or just access to it) then by all mean go ahead! I sadly do not have a PDF to post. :(

Not necessarily ;) @Nemo of Utopia's character may be from the Alpha Legion, but she doesn't have to be with the Alpha Legion. I have my own plans for the introduction *taps fingers together a la Mr. Burns* Mwahaha...

I go away for a day or two and I miss the most key aspect of things: Liz, As we're going Alpha Legion, murder hobo is NOT the way to go! Alpha Legion, and Slaanesh bands in particular, are all stealth, infiltration, subversion, diplomacy, conversion, seduction, deception, and trickery. Murder hobo runs dead opposite to that mode of doing things. (Oh, sure, we're going to kill some folk, but less "dungeon crawl" and more "Get in, take out the target, get back out alive!" We're chaos cultists: we're terrorists, not "big damn heroes".)

Alpha Legion!? o_O Who said this was an Alpha Legion warband?

If you guys collectively want this to be an Alpha Legion warband that's great, I will totally make this an Alpha Legion warband. If you want your characters to be from or affiliated with the Alpha Legion that's fine too, but I need to stress that this group is not by default an Alpha Legion warband just because @Nemo of Utopia's character will be a Space Marine from the Alpha Legion. The specifics of how Nemo's character came to be with the warband can (and probably will) be worked out privately between myself and Nemo before the game starts, just as I will go over the history of all of your characters with each of you privately in order to tailor the game specifically to you and assign starting tertiary objectives.

    Thank you! :D

Oh, yea, sorry: I just thought that since GE and I are apparently AL...

    Omega98 CHYOA Guru

I very well could be wrong, but with you stating earlier that your Space Marine character would be from the Alpha Legion it was GE who assumed the warband would be from the Alpha Legion. It very well still could be, but I don't want to beholden other players to the AL right off the bat. Especially if more people want to play Space Marines from other Legions like the World Eaters. That would be... challenging to introduce.

It's just more open to start it as a nondescript warband.

Eh, I have played SPESH MAHRINES before and not found them very interesting. I am fine with having a mixed Warband. Hell since you kinda need someone who can walk around in public without drawing attention.

Why did you assume that when I said "Alpha Legion" I was telling you to play a CSM char? The Alpha Legion does, and always has, make extensive use of non-marine auxiliaries and agents... Just because you don't carry the gene-seed of Alpharius does not mean you can't be part of the Legion or even become "A Head of the Hydra"...
