Stories from the Grand Empire is a sexual fantasy RPG where the players will interact with each other and with me through various NPC's. I plan on it having sort of the classic adventuring feel where the players will be presented with a problem and they will decide or find a way to solve it. There'll also likely be various character interactions between adventures and it's not going to be constant traveling. This also likely the best time to actually join in if anyone wishes to after the campaign starts. Just post or repost your character here and hop in at some point that feels appropriate. I can also assist here if you so wish.

Unlike standard RPG's, this game is going to be played through roleplay and character interactions rather than arbitrary dice rolls. This gives players the freedom to be creative rather than being shackled to numbers. Although you may still fail. The lack of dice doesn't mean that you're an all-powerful being capable of anything. Anyway, this makes character creation fairly easy. Just make a character that you feel would fit the world. I'll leave a bit of an outline for those who wish for a little more guideline.

    Name:(Kind of obvious)
    Sex: (Also kind of obvious)
Class: (Without stats, this is kind of just an affirmation of what you're good at and how you want to progress in the world)
Race: (Kind of obvious. You might want to go for something a bit more humanoid, because some(or many) may distrust you if you don't.)
Looks:(This is your physical appearance and will be used for descriptions for other PC's and for myself)

Skills and spells:(These are special things you can do during standard play. Keep in mind that they aren't the only things you can do and certain things can be done without a skill or ability. However, it'll be more likely for you to fail. Anyone can attempt to pick a lock, but someone who specializes it will fail less than someone who doesn't. Also, there will be opportunities for improvement. So the skills or spells that you start with may not be the only ones you have throughout the whole RPG)

Background: (This is essentially your story up to this point. You don't need an extensive backstory, but interesting backgrounds tend to lead to interesting story possibilities.)

Equipment: (This is what gear you currently have. You will be able to find things in your travels and upgrades. So the equipment put here isn't necessarily what you'll have for the whole RPG. Clothes, weapons, equipment, anything you think might be pertinent and on your person)

anything important about your character that you think I should know, but don't want others to know can be conveyed to me in a private message after you post your character.

Now then, for some background on the setting that we'll be playing in. The Grand Empire is a setting that I created for my real life D&D campaign...Although you will be experiencing it a number of years in the future from where they do.

    The Grand Empire

    History:

The Grand Empire has a long and bloody history with the various nation states within it always vying for influence over The Emperor and the Empire as a whole. However, the conception of it was far far more bloody.

Several centuries ago, the continent was dominated by two major powers. The Human Kingdom of Garroth along with its subject Bruth and the Elven Kingdoms of Everethel and Corthel whom while having two separate realms have stood as a united front and annexed the Kingdom of Aldorth.

These two powers: Elven and Human stood at odds over the control of the Inner Sea Penninsula(Now known as The Imperial Heartlands). The Inner Sea Penninsula had a fertile wealth of food and room for both factions to expand. Therefore it was no surprise when war broke out between the two. Garroth allied with Skeea who wanted the Central Basin for their own food production and Everthel bribed Midcort into invading Garroth from the north. The Dwarves that live in the mountains near Midcort mostly stayed neutral. Preferring their own isolated realm over dealing with external problems.

The war lasted for many decades with neither side getting any real clear advantage. The mostly human army of Garroth was numerous, but not nearly as experienced as the mostly Elven armies of Everthel and Corthel. Eventually, both sides conceded that neither side of the conflict would be able to achieve ultimate victory without utterly destroying their own nation. The Elves were running out of manpower due to their long life and long aging process and The Garrothans were quickly running out of finances fund their war machine due to Midcort's raids on their heartlands.

In the final peace deal, both sides made concessions. The King and Queen of Everthel and Corthel would marry and unite their kingdoms into what's now known as Evecorth. They would also release the Kingdom of Aldorth. Meanwhile, Garroth would cede their land east of the Blackeke Mountains to their subject Bruth and conceded suzerainty of them. Midcort was forced to pay reparations to Garroth and Skeea to Evecorth. This soured Midcort's opinion on the treaty which they saw their troops as mostly mercenaries rather than actual participants in the war and they refused to have any part in it. Meanwhile, the Inner Sea Penninsula would remain technically independant for the next part of their treaty.

In an attempt to quell any Great Wars again, the Grand Empire was formed. All nations that agree to it would accept the leadership of an emperor elected amongst the kings of the various kingdoms. That emperor would rule over the Inner Sea Penninsula(renamed to The Imperial Heartlands) while his or her heir would rule over whichever kingdom they came from. That Emperor would mediate disputes between the various kingdoms. Midcort refused to have anything to do with such an arrangement. The arrangement was tense at first, but as the years and centuries passed and the scars of war faded. Things became more platonic.

While such a system hasn't completely eliminated conflict between the two kingdoms. There are still wars and disputes that end up being solved on the battlefield rather than the court. The national borders tend to remain the same and most people don't have to fear a bloody Great War again. At least for now.

Now for the part that people actually care about. A description of the various kingdoms.

    Aldorth:
Aldorth is a large and sparsely populated nation on the northeastern part of the continent. After their release in The Grand Treaty, they quickly found themselves without an army, the population to recruit them, nor the equipment to equip them. Therefore they turned to the Orcish cheiftans who have long lived in the Northern Hills. In their agreement, the orcs would provide the armed forces for Aldorth and in exchange they would be paid and provided comfortable housing to live in. This agreement lasted for years until after having stripped the Aldorth King of much of his power, the Orc Warchief Gaurtog attempted a coup and the orcs were driven out of their position.

This has mostly collapsed Aldorth into a civil war as the Humans organize their own army to fight against the orcish soldiers.

    Evecorth:
The Elven Kingdom of Evecorth has remained mostly peaceful with their neighbors which is somewhat surprising considering they were one of the crucial factions involved in The Great War. Due to the centuries of peaceful interactions between the various Kingdoms of The Empire, the human population now nearly rivals the Elven population.

Despite this, their mostly forested cities are still wondrous to behold.

    Skeea:
Possibly one of the most diverse kingdoms in The Empire. Skeea is a harsh desertous kingdom where most of their food comes from along the Skeean River. A large river that twists and turns across the desert whose source is somewhere in the mountains between Skeea and Evecorth. Still, despite the harsh conditions. Skeea holds a large diversity of races and are probably the most accepting kingdom to non-human/elf races.

    Garroth:
Garroth was once the largest human kingdom on the continent, but after The Grand Treaty their power has waned as the years turn by. Their government has been largely decentralized and while they do have a King, most of the power lies with the various dukes and duchesses of the land. Garroth is mostly Human and many of the people have prejudices against non-humans.

They often have border disputes with their former vassal Bruth.

    Bruth:
Culturally Bruth is much like their neighbour Garroth. However, being closer to the center of the Empire's power. Many of the prejudices that plague their western neighbor have fallen away and they are much more accepting of non-humans. Although non-humanoids may find less of a welcome. They are the rising star of the Human Kingdoms while Garroth is the decrepit and decaying of a time long gone.

They too often have border disputes with their former suzerain, Garroth.

    Midcort:
Midcort is a backwards and tribal nation in the cold northwestern part of the continent. They are not and have never been part of the Grand Empire. Their dense forest and dangerous climate makes invasion by a hostile army very difficult and has helped to keep them isolated from the world at large. Their religion has a central theme of sacrifice to appease their deities and that sacrifice can be either people or animals. Because of this, their beliefs have no traction within the Empire itself which they often have border disputes with.

Rumors have it that the dwarves still live in the mountains west of Midcort...Although non-dwarves haven't been allowed there for generations and the slow trickle of dwarven travelers have gradually decreased as the centuries have gone by. Nobody outside of that land is quite sure what's going on there.

That is essentially a basic overview of the setting. You can use it with your backstory as you may. Where the party is going to start will probably largely depend on what kind of characters you folks make and where I think it would be most interesting based off of that.

One final note that I feel is important to touch on for sexual RPG's: I am not currently banning any kind of action that you or anyone else can make. If you want to murder someone, that's fine. If you want to rape someone, that's fine. If someone tries to rape your character, that shouldn't come as a surprise. I have always been a proponent of freedom to do as you wish in such RPG's. However, freedom to do as you wish does not mean freedom of consequence. If you do something terrible and get caught doing it, then you shouldn't be surprised if there are negative consequences for such an action.

The direction that the story takes is entirely up to how the party shapes it. If you want to be evil pricks, then that's fine. If you want to be The Saviour who slays the dragons and wedigos. That's also fine. If you want to spend the entire campaign having orgies in taverns. That's also fine.

With that out of the way, the most important goal is and always will be to have fun.

I'll leave this up for a few days before beginning to give people time to think of and create their characters and me time to actually plan some things. I have to work the next few days(including in like 20 minutes), but I'll do my best to keep up with this discussion the best that I can when i'm off.

    Current Characters:
    Vi’lea(Played by Moonblack)

    Name: Vi’lea
    Class: Sorceress
Race: Dark Elf (please see note)
    Looks:
Long black hair, straight and reaching to the middle of her back. Dark blue eyes. Wearing a pair of thigh-high black leather boots and a dark blue dress that is rather tight in the chest area, emphasizing her large "charms".

    Skills and spells:
Freezing Trail - Vi’lea touches the ground with one hand and creates a trail of ice that homes in on her intended target. Because of the homing properties of the spell it rarely misses, but it is possible for the enemy to dodge it in part or in whole (especially if the target notices the spell ahead of time). The trail needs solid ground so it can climb walls in order to reach enemies at the ceiling and can cross bodies of water (by freezing the water along the way), but cannot reach flying enemies (unless they are forced to the ground first). The spell deals ice damage and has a high chance to freeze the target. At her current skill level Vi'lea can create only a single trail. For comparison, Vi’lea has seen her sister create five ice trails without any sort of preparation – and without touching the floor, just pointing at it.
Circle of Ice – creates a circle of frost around Vi'lea, hurting anyone caught it in (friend and foe alike). Anyone not immune takes ice damage, and might get frozen, or suffer from frostbite, or from another such “pleasant” effect. The circle lasts for a short time (usually around 10 seconds) and moves with Vi'lea, so that she remains in its center.
Manipulate Shadows – Vi'lea can manipulate shadows and do almost anything with them. Her knowledge encompasses numerous thing – from creating a simple bolt of darkness, to creating weapons and armor, to complex things such as creating a shadow bridge over a river. However, while she has the knowledge, her power is still lacking, and the more complex something is the more power it takes. Because of that Vi'lea tends to stick to simple stuff as much as possible. But if she has some way to temporarily boost her own power (such as an artifact that increases her power, or another sorceress to help her) she might be able to pull off some impressive feats... 'might' being the key word here.
Seduction (females) – Vi'lea has a lot of experience seducing single women of various ages and races. She is very good when it comes to seducing women, but she's no good when she has to deal with men (they just don't interest her).
Knowledge – Vi'lea has a lot of knowledge about various subjects. No matter what people ask her about she is likely to have heard about it. The accuracy of her knowledge, however, tends to vary greatly – from “absolutely correct” all the way to “barely resembles the truth”. Still, one never knows when a random piece of information might prove useful...

    Background:
Vi’lea is the younger sister of Fel’ira the Black Blizzard – a Dark Elf sorceress of considerable power and skill. Both sisters prefer to use ice and shadow spells. However, due to her youth and inexperience, Vi’lea lacks the skills and power of her older sister. Things are only made worse by the fact that Vi'lea would rather chase pretty girls than study spellcasting. That doesn't mean she dislikes all studies, though – Vi'lea loves hearing stories about distant lands and people, and about things that happened in the past.

For most of her life Vi'lea lived together with her sister in one of the border areas of Garroth. It is an area ruled by Duke Gavin Tarvain and his wife, Duchess Amelia Tarvain. Then Vi'lea had the “great” idea to seduce Evelina Tarvain, a sheltered and naive girl that just happened to be the Duke's youngest daughter. Her plan worked like a charm: First she took advantage of the Duchess' interest in younger girls (which includes girls that only look younger than the Duchess) and allowed the noblewoman to seduce her during a party. This allowed Vi'lea to meet Evelina, and as a bonus – to sleep with the Duchess (proving that yes, the rumors about the Duchess' skill in bed are not exaggerated). After that it did not take long for the dark elf to seduce the young human girl and she started teaching her about sex with women... then the Duchess caught them in bed.

Duchess Amelia had been visibly pissed off (though the dark elf was not sure why – whether it was because the naked Vi'lea had two of her fingers inside the equally naked Evelina's butt, or because Vi'lea had resisted the Duchess' further attempts to seduce her) and so the dark elf decided that it would be wise to leave the area for a while (be it a few months, or a few years, or even a few decades). Leaving would also make it less likely for her sister to get in trouble.

Vi'lea's thirst for knowledge is well-known (as is the fact that it is second only to her lust for pretty girls) and so it provided an easy and believable excuse for her departure. She did not take a lot of things on her journey, as too much stuff would slow her down and make her a target.

    Equipment:
Four short but sharp and easy to conceal steel daggers – two on her belt and two hidden in her boots.
A pair of thigh-high black leather boots.
A second pair of thigh-high black leather boots.
A dark blue dress that is rather tight in the chest area, emphasizing Vi'lea’s "charms".
A second dark blue dress, almost the same as the first but with cleavage that leaves about a third of her bust exposed – reserved for when she wants to seduce a pretty girl.
A black cloak with a hood, enchanted to be water-proof.
Enough rations for one more week of travel.
A small money pouch with some money inside.
Full-Heal Potion – a small vial full of dark red liquid that both smells and tastes like strawberries. Ingesting the potion fully heals one's wounds and the most common ailments. Vi'lea “bought” the potion from a witch she met during her travels.

    Notes:
    1) In the area Vi’lea comes from some elves (of all genders) have long black hair and prefer to use darkness-related spells. Because of that they have become known as Dark Elves, even if they are not really different from regular elves
    2) Yes, this is a modified version of my character form the monster girl game. She is similar, but not the same, as the Vi'lea from that game. The most important differences can be seen above, the rest may become clear during the game.

    Nicholas Chambers(played by Auraicide)
    Name: Nicholas Chambers
    Sex: Male
    Class: Mage Ripper
Race: Bunny Morph(Is that the right term for mostly human but with rabbit ears and senses?)
Looks: Boyish, blonde, lean, white haired rabbit ears.

    Skills:
Harmless: Rabbits are difficult to take seriously when they try to command respect but also don't normally appear as obvious threats and some like Nicholas use it as a skill, knowing cute can be more effective than menacing.

Subterfuge: Having the ability to take down a target, means nothing if you can't get to it. Through cunning and stealth, only the most paranoid targets see Nicholas for what he is actually capable of.

Dagger precision: Thrown or used in hand, Nicholas is more than willing to twist the knife and know how to get the chance to. Despite having excellent practice with them, bigger and heavier weapons, feel clunky and slow.

Ambidextrous: With neither hand weak and both equally capable, Nicholas makes use of them in daily actions and in combat.

    Abilities:

Mage Killer Prayer: By making contact with....some kind of force that remains only a secret to the Chamber's family, Nicholas can severely reduce the impact of magic attacks when the prayer is invoked. However, whatever being allows the defense against magical forces, also has a twisted sense of humor. It also severely reduces the ability of receiving healing magic and magical power boosts while invoked. Buffing abilities still work prior to it. It can be called off before the full hour ends, but asking some being for a favor and having a change of heart can have consequences....

Magi-death blow: Only the truly dedicated are actually capable of outright slicing through magical defenses. With focus, these people are capable of just know exactly where to hit and tear through a mage's attempts at defending themselves.

Mental ward: Knowing what he's up against, Nicholas's mind is a lot harder to influence by magical means than a normal person's, though it is still not unbreakable.

Dispel: The one proper spell he can actually use enables him to dispel magic from casters and items. Even with his animal reflexes, Nicholas is not however, able to dispel something as fast as a lighting bolt or a magical spell that is too fast to properly react to.

Background: Only the most xenophobic or paranoid of humans and elves would fear the bunny people. This does not mean they would be wrong. Bunnies are among the more tolerated types of beast people and the human looking one's aren't exactly feared. Nobles like them as servants since they look cute and are exotic to show off to other nobility.

Bunny families like the Chamber's are happy to serve. It let's them be close while they work to their dream. Putting all the human noble houses against each other. The main method of operation is to get humans into thinking it was all their idea when they start a feud with another or make a plan to set an ambush. The Chamber's are content to not take credit, but still know to be ready for the day that it gets exposed to them and train to use the weaknesses of their targets against them.

Serving a powerful and influential wizard family for their area, Nicholas grew up with the matriarch's daughter, Ariel who he had a strained friendship with. She was less spoiled and entitled then the rest, but not by much. When they became adults, she started to order him to do more things than just make her bed while he was in her room. Not that he is too broken up about it.

He wasn't broken up about his siblings finally have their moment to strike either. A house burnt down by a warlord convinced the mages were out to get to him, forged documents that ended with their bankruptcy, then the most influential members coming down with a bad case of stabbed throat, and the house was in shambles. He was fine with it. It was the bunny way.

The other five of his siblings, either decided to have a quiet life or find new employment and keep the pattern going. Nicholas, found a conflict. He wasn't willing to give up the skills he learned to deal with mages, but he didn't want to dedicate his whole life to something he never decided for himself either. He ruled that he would just see where the wind would end up taking him.

Equipment: Two steel daggers, green leather cloak, basic lockpicking tools, leather gloves, clothes, leather boots, rope.

    Thritch(Played by GenericEditor168)
    Name: Thritch
    Sex: Male
    Class: Hexblade
    Race: Rosen
    Looks:
    Skills and spells:
Swordfighting: Thritch has been trained to use a sword as more than a sharp thing to hit people with. This includes stances, parries, feints, and actually attacking.
Agility: Rosen are naturally flexible, and Thritch has practiced until the natural flexibility has become a skill with fast and nimble movement.
Charm: Living as a Rosen is often tricky, as a lot of people distrust the race from their appearance and prior behaviour. Most ratmen learn to run away fast, or else stay clear of humans. Thritch learned to talk his way out of problems instead.
Blade of Black Blood: Coats the caster's blade in a black liquid, which is a paralytic poison.
Shield of Words: The caster must speak three words of protection clearly and loudly to cast this spell. Then, any time in the next twelve hours that the caster is physically attacked, the words spoken will appear around him and protect him, before being used up. Note that certain words are more powerful, and that only enough words to prevent the harm will appear.

    Background:
Thritch was born in the hills of western Skeea, part of a small Rosen community, and raised to be a scout, like his father and grandfather before him. However, a roving Serpentine mage saw that he possessed a knack for magic, and bought him off the village.
He had been raised as a scout for too long to ever learn true mastery of magic, but he could combine his magical training with his training in swordfighting and agile movement, which he did, becoming a Hexblade.

    Equipment:
A leather glove with an attached bracer - normally worn on the sword arm.
Pair of leather boots, reinforced with bronze, enchanted to weigh nothing at all.
    Two pairs of trousers.
    Red cloak.
Sword and dagger, the sword is steel with a leather-wrapped redwood handle, the dagger is just bronze with a leather wrapping for a grip.
Tailblade (just for show, he has no idea how to use it).
    Water flask.
    Spellbook (notepad-sized).

If Vi'lea hailing from Garroth is a problem I can edit her background to make her hail from Aldorth instead.

I would like to say that I'm still interested in playing this, and ask is a ratman would fit into the world.

@moonblack looks good! There isn't really any problem with being from Garroth. There are still enclaves of elves that live in that kingdom even if the rest of the realm is mostly human and overall Vi’lea looks like a great addition!

@GenericEditor168 When you say ratman, do you mean a Human-like entity with rat ears and a rat tail, or something more akin to Skaven from the Warhammer Fantasy universe or somewhere in between. Either would be fine, but keep in mind that others may find the latter less appealing outside of Skeea.

More along the lines of Skaven.

I cave. I really want to get in on this. If I'm allowed, I'll edit this later with a character sheet. But two questions. Does a character need to be a pure class build or are hybrids fine? Like Magiknight? If so, then would they follow dnd rules of only knowing so many spells at once? I do remember that rule, even if I'm not fully brilliant at this sort of thing.

  7. merkros

    merkros CHYOA Guru

    That's fine then.

There's not really a reason you cannot create a Magicknight or a stealthy ninja-wizard, but it would stand to reason that one who spreads their expertise out across multiple professions would have less specialization in either. However, since there are no set rules I'm not going to stand over you and dictate that you can only have this many spells or skills or abilities.

What technology level does the world have? Is there gunpowder?

Allright. Current character is a ratman Hexblade, so a swordsman with two basic spells and some other useful skills. Would that work?

Of course! Seems good to me. I just feel compelled to mention that a Ratman might not be the most universally accepted race in a medieval fantasy society where rats are generally regarded in a not great light. I know it's just a stigma. Rats are generally pretty clean when they're not in the sewer. However, even today that stigma remains.

Here's my current character concept. Tell me if something should change. It might be a little much for one character but I think it's within reason.

A mage hunter in a party where both the other PCs are mages might not be the best idea... depends on his backstory.

As long as Nicolas' abilities do not interfere with her own Vi'lea won't care. He doesn't seem to have any Area-of-Effect skills or spells, so it should be fine... probably.

I think it's Lagomorph, but Lagomorph-Bunnymorph. As long as we know what you're talking about. It's fine.

I might at some point ask what force is behind this power because it sounds like delicious plot potential. However, it probably won't be anytime soon. I prefer to spring plots that involve characters' backstories when it's least expected and the start of the game isn't that time.

The only question I have of this ability is whether it's a power that only affects Nicholas, or if it's more of an area of effect power that helps the whole part. Either way is fine, but I do have to know.

    Anyway, It looks good!

    1. I should really learn how people use reply and cut messages to only a couple of lines they want to refer to.

    2. Nicholas is more of intended for single target destruction with some rogue ability. Maybe he can develop widespread abilities or improve pre-existing skills(Stronger effects or losing weaknesses, don't know) to further screw over the target enemy, but I think that would really be more up to the gm if characters can develop skills later on and what ones.

    3. I know I'm the one who brought it up but now I wonder. First, if the gods and pantheon are specifically to DnD in which case I can wiki and look for something that fits, or if they can be improvised. In either case, I have to wonder what kind of being would bunny people worship?

And latest thought, that I'm editing in so I don't post twice, is now I'm debating using a male character. You can do a lot more with a female character in lewd things than you can with a guy where it's just basically "I stick it in this hole." Just the way I see it.

But I already have the character basically done. Is gender set in stone? Like your only what you start as the entire game?

There's probably going to be two ways one can improve abilities. Either something plot-like will happen such as "You encounter the Forbidden Book of Knowledge and it sears the knowledge of a magic spell into your mind". Or after a time that I deem you guys have done enough to "Level up" (for lack of a better word). You'll get the ability to acquire or improve one of your abilities.

There's a lot of deities to choose from. I'd be fine with you picking one of the standard D&D deities or making one of your own up.

I can neither confirm nor deny the possibility that gender switching, body changing, transformation, and other sorts of physical fuckery may happen. Although if it does happen, there'll probably be the option to switch back if you so choose. It really depends on the circumstances. With that said, Based on how slowly these PbP games tend to move. You'll probably want to pick a gender you'll be happy to play for a while.

Also, keep in mind that there is the possibility of female characters becoming pregnant. So buying condoms or some sort of magic contraception potion might be a good idea for female characters to use some of that phat loots on.
"Pulling out" may reduce the chances, but doesn't guarantee anything

Note to self: Get some sort of contraception for Vi'lea, just in case.

Something I'm curious about: The map shows that in Aldorth there are two areas with red borders. What does that mean? Does it have something to do with the civil war?

Speaking of the map, what did you use to make it?

Yep. The red-dotted region is land that the orcs have undisputed control of.

Hexographer. Although there is a pro version of Hexographer that I have weighed the idea of getting and a Hexographer 2(Worldographer) which I need to check out at some point. I've found that the free version of Hexographer has most of what I need for D&D maps.
