Hello, I recently took up writing on this site and noticed a discrepancy in the number of chapters I've published (five) and the number displayed on my homepage (ten). My story is currently set to "Moderated" but there aren't any submitted chapters to review from other contributors. Just curious what this is about, if its a mistake or if I'm missing something.
Welcome to the site The "Chapters" stat on your user profile should only show your own chapters, no matter if they are added to your story or other people's stories. There are some issues with counting chapters from time to time like stories with a negative number of chapters. It could also be a caching issue, though I'm not sure about it. Friedman should be able to fix the number if you want to.
It doesn't particularly bother me, though if it can be fixed I'd appreciate that. I just didn't want the possibility of someone having bothered to add a chapter and me leaving them out to dry. Thank you both for your responses and kind welcome!
The page Review Chapters shows all pending chapters to be reviewed. Besides, you should receive a Notification if someone adds a chapter to your stories, though this depends on the setting of the option "Story: Someone... Adds a chapter to my stories" in the Notification settings.
Let me also bid you welcome and offer my condolences that your first experience with the site involved a malfunction. Additionally, let me state that the advice you have received from both 'gene.sis' and 'mindtheMILF' is spot on and you would do well to head it, especially the part about always providing a link to the page and/or story under discussion in one's initial post, as this allows better feedback. As an example in this case, at the moment there is no way for us to easily check if the issue is for all visiting users, or only on your end, which would help us better determine how to solve it. However, let me end on an uptick: you are doing well for such a new author, and while your writing is not to my personal taste, I'm sure you will soon find an audience of loyal readers! PS: I checked your profile the hard way and it's an issue for me as well, with the added datum that it seems to be holding steady at +5 "phantom" chapters rather than being a simple doubling...
