Sexual Orientation Poll

Pretty self-explanatory but just a little poll to see what the spread of sexual orientation is on the site that people identify as.

 

Unfortunately, you will not get accurate results due to the current political climate.

 

I'm pretty sure I would be bisexual if I were a woman.

 

I'm pretty sure I'd be a lesbian if I were a woman: assuming nothing else changed.

 

Though, I'd be like a five on the Kinsey scale because I'd totally get myself super buff and seduce some of the better-mannered Olympians just to get pregnant...

 

I don't really know what politics would really cause any problems with this.

 

Then you are either blind or willfully ignoring what is happening in the world around you.

 

You think people are going to lie on this message board because of world politics? That seems a bit conspiracy theorist.

 

So does Donald Trump becoming president because the Russian intelligence service co-opted part of the Russian mafia, but that happened.

 

I think there is a wide gulf between Russian interference in the 2016 election and people under a pseudonym anonymously declaring their sexual orientation on porn message board.

 

Yeah, I don't get it.

This is a poll on a sex website. Don't think any particular political climate is affecting the results, no more than it would in years past (and where it would isn't the US)

 

I voted not based on political preferences. (scratching head) why is it political?

 

Now that Trump is president some extreme right wing influences have put in an effort to "make America great again" by being as intolerant as posrible. Other countries like currently Russia have strict homophobic laws.

 

So the only thing I can think of that would fit the Nemo’s assertion would be right winged bots coming in and voting exclusively heterosexual in order to skewer the polls results. I.e. my reason for labeling this a conspiracy theory.

 

At time of posting, there are no votes in the gay category. But there are men on men sex stories on CHYOA. I wonder if they are written by bi-men, women, or gay men that haven't answered the poll yet.

 

1.) If intolerance and hatred based on orientation were going to be a problem here, it would have already happened.

2.) There's no inherent fear because in addition to our use of usernames, the results don't even display who voted which way, not even to me.

3.) Even if they did, the fact is we have authors writing in men-on-men scenes and authors upvoting, favoriting, and bookmarking them, all of which does carry a username. Everyone who would be not-outed by voting has likely already been outed.

I take offense to this on behalf of all conspiracy theorists. Unlike this theory, conspiracy theories are rooted in some larger gain. Election manipulation, media shifts, covert and clandestine operations, etc. This? The only discernible gain is using the results to obliterate certain categories. Besides being stupid for CHYOA as a business practice, it also accomplishes nothing in the long run because it's all going to spread across the other categories; the efforts to police tags would follow, but then they simply stop tagging, and then the fight is for outright censorship which would bury CHYOA once and for all. The gain here is ridiculous, and would never happen anyway simply due to the disastrous endgame. This doesn't even qualify as a conspiracy theory. This is paranoia for its own sake.

Forum population is fairly low compared to the main site, and that's before we consider users who still haven't made the jump to CHYOA due to their extended hiatuses from CHYOO and the lack of activity their stories generate. It's the actual reason this poll will not be accurate, and the most likely reason most of our men-on-men scene authors and readers have not voted.

Well, actually, it would be more interesting to have the options sorted by gender

 

I realize that based on the timing, this post sounded like I was saying no one picked gay because they were afraid. That's my fault.

I was actually trying to start a discussion about what people have learnt or could learn from the pole. For me I started to question how many of the men-on-men stories were written by gay men.
