What is "extreme" violence?

I think chyoa would benefit from a more precise definition here. During my recent search for new non-con stories to read and I found story with stuff that disturbed me quite a lot (and I am aroused by violence in sex) namely detailed description of killing (by strangling\drowning\etc) after sex. Story is there since March and I think mods find it OK... (or no one reported...)

    Really, if this "
Grace finds herself backed into a corner as you close in on her. She opens her mouth to scream, but you clamp your hand around her mouth, your other hand around her neck.

Her eyes are wide, silently begging for her life, but you ignore them and squeeze her neck. You release your hand from her mouth and squeeze with your other hand. She begins gasping and choking for air, but none comes as your hands block off all her oxygen.

    *Uck* *Gak*

Her struggling weakens as her face grows redder. Her body goes limp as her strength fades, but still you squeeze, choking the last bits of life out of her.

You release her neck, and her body falls to the floor. Even in death, she is still beautiful, but you don't dwell on her corpse too much."
isn't extreme, I want to know what is?

"Extreme violence" is right in there with "Magical beings with human intelligence turning into animals" and "Adult Elf who looks underage".

The answer to the question is kind of gray as the exact definition of 'extreme violence' changes from person to person. Personally, as a rule, I tend to draw the line at gore during sex. What I mean by that is essentially no gutting, dismembering, or violent murder(like stabbing multiple times) during intercourse.

There's plenty of chapters on the site that involve those sorts of things outside of sex and there doesn't seem to be any kind of uproar over them and I've seen chapters on here that involve killing your partner(usually through choking or fantasy energy drain for like Succubi) in more "gentle" manners.

I think @merkros is absolutely right in his assessment. This does change from person to person, but I agree completely with his "improved" explanation over the site rules.
With the direct passage you provided, while the scene depicts the murder of a woman, I find there to be nothing overtly sexual about the depiction. There is a brief mention about how "...Even in death, she is still beautiful..." but even that isn't necessarily arousing.

The second rule of the site does attempt to expand on the excessive violence rule by stating:
"Violence: As a general rule, try not to use an excessive amount of brutal violence. Remember this is an erotic-themed site, not a splatter/gore/violence-themed site."

Two things strike me about this:
    1. "...excessive amount of brutal violence..." What qualifies as brutal violence as the term itself is subjective. My definition of brutal violence is most likely different than someone else on this site and again If find myself turning back to @merkros's improved definition.
    2. "As a general rule, try..." TRY being the key word in this phrase. If the story calls for the use of violence in a situation, well... that's sort of unavoidable then. But after one has written the scene out probably the best direction would be to go back over it and use your judgement on it. If a description seems a bit too "brutal" or "excessive", perhaps try rewording it or toning it down.
Writers need the freedom to tell the stories that they want to tell and this site does provide that. But there's a line that protects this site from being shut down and where that line resides is subjective. I'm not entirely certain where it is and I agree with you that a better definition would be beneficial. But short of listing out exactly what can and cannot be in a story (which I don't think is feasible given how long that list could possibly be) what better alternative do we have than these guidelines? Ultimately, as I said, it comes down to judgement and I guess quality of the work. If all else fails, and you see something that you think is "brutal" or "excessive" report it to a moderator and let them decide.

But remember we're all adults here (at least theoretically), and we all have the power to stop reading stuff that we don't like. And we should all have the right to read and write the stuff that we do.

    BRING ON THE DISAGREEMENTS!!!

Sure. There are quite a few fantasies that make me WTF but I never had any problem that someone writes whatever he wants. I truly believe in ability of humans to see the difference between fantasy and real world.

Yet I'd like to have a clearer understanding of excessive violence. Vague rules are bad rules. My understanding of the rule was basically - no detailed description of murder and\or inflicting severe injuries especially in eroticized manner and I was surprised to find that it is not exactly true.
