The idea is, you click on a link attached to each chapter that says something like "View Story Path to Here" and it gives you a page that has every chapter stacked on top of it, so you can read the whole thing by just scrolling down without having to click each link for each new chapter. Fiction Branches, another cyoa site, already has this feature and it's pretty darn useful.
That won't work with linked chapters. Currently, it also wouldn't work for game mode stories as well as CHYOA doesn't track the whole history of recent chapters. I don't see much advantage of it for readers as they would have to navigate to the chapter and could read the story at the same time. For writers, it could be useful as one could search/see the whole storyline towards the chapter they want to add to.
This would be helpful for the HUGE stories that have a specific tag someone wants but doesn't want to go floundering around to find. I do this often looking for the gay choices then work back from there. Again, yeah, it wouldn't work with Game Mode.
There are plenty of linear stories on the site with one long path offering only a single choice. This would save readers dozens of clicks, so definitely useful. It wouldn't be helpful for games for sure, but I'm more than happy with that. Just having it work with other kinds would be enough.
It would make it difficult to provide ways of giving feedback in form of Likes and Comments. Though not having them could indeed save readers a lot of clicks.
Well, first of all, I'm stating my own opinion and as I probably do more writing than reading, it may be somewhat on the author side. I might also write things about difficulties of implementation. The site should be easy to use while having useful and interesting features, no matter if they are more interesting for writers or readers. Unfortunately, the forum (and the suggestion forum) are rather frequented by writers. That said, it would be good to have more readers on here. Back to the topic... - Feedback in form of Comments can help the writers to improve their writing (storytelling, grammar, typos, kinks) which can make the current and future chapters and stories better, thus improving the readers' experience. - Feedback in form of Likes (and encouraging comments) are a great motivation for writers and may encourage them to continue their stories which can reduce the number of abandoned stories and dead ends in stories, thus improving the readers' experience as well. - If the suggested feature is used on a deep, linear story, chances are high that there will be a lot of text which won't be read in one session. Imagine a story with a depth of 50 chapters with 1,000 words per chapter (fewer words per chapter doesn't make much sense for linear stories) would need about three hours of reading. That would make a really long page where you can scroll a lot and if you lose your current position, you might have problems to find it. If you stop reading to continue the next day, you might have problems to find the right position as well. Doesn't add to the readers' experience. - As I said earlier, this would be rather useful for authors to have an easy way to keyword-search the current storyline. That would make it rather a feature for authors. Suggestions with more Votes (Likes on the first post) are more likely to get implemented. So if you find the suggestion useful, you could do that.
