No idea, I've never read the books or watched the movie. I am a big fan of GIRL GENIUS though...

If you want to talk Nova-Roma we could do it in a PM, they're not quite like the old Romans in several key respects...

As of right now, Isakitis Blues has pulled ahead of "I have no opinion, I just like voting in polls."

So, just for completeness sake, I'm tossing up some extra data about the two games that almost no one's voted for.

    Dragons Reach:

Though we will be using an even simpler system THIS book contains the broad setting we will be using for this game if it takes off, and is one I think every gamer should have in their digital library.

In specific we would be playing in a homebrew sub-setting of my own devising called the Left-Hand Islands, a series of five volcanic islands vaguely similar to Hawaii that look sort of like the tips of the fingers of a human left hand if viewed from above.

The Left-Hand Islands are an independent human nation that is on the dragon's side, and has, in fact, interbreed with them for many generations at the highest levels of their nobility, granting them minor elemental powers similar to those of the dragons they worship.

You would play one or more fledges of young adult dragons, finding mates and dodging the dragon hunters that sometimes come to the islands searching for dragons to kill to fule the blasphemous necromantic magitech of the mainland, all while gathering treasure for your hoard.

    Furs In Space:

Earth-That-Was could no longer support our numbers, we were so many.

We faced a dark choice, leave our cradle behind, or watch our mother world die from trying to feed our teeming billions. There was a great argument, some said that God would not allow the Earth to be unable to sustain us, others said that we had angered God by disobeying his command to be good stewards of the Earth he had given us and being forced to leave was our punishment, the landlord evicting his wayward tenants...

    The war was devastating.

When the fighting was over the "Green" Faction stood triumphantly, but the victory was hollow, the ecosystems of Earth-That-Was were in ruins, it would take eons uncounted for the biosphere to recover. We did what we had to do: the ruined cities were processed for resources, and those resources were loaded onto space elevators to be taken into orbit where they built The Covenant, The Daedalus, and The A-Tuin: the three great Arks-Mechanus. Almost all the survivors were loaded onto the Arks, only about a million people remaining behind on each continent to try to rebuild and heal Old-Earth. All the stored seed samples, all the breeding populations of animals, bacteria, plants, and so on that could be spared, were sent with the Arks, to leave Earth-That-Was behind forever and set out into the galaxy in search of New-Earths, where we could make better worlds, worlds where we would display proper stewardship.

Our ancestors were the crew of the Daedalus. What became of Earth-That-Was or the other two Arks-Mechanus we do not know, nor do we know the fate of the Daedalus itself. Over five thousand years into its voyage the Daedalus was wearing out and needed to stop for repair and refitting. It made port at a system now known only as Sharn's Reach, and we do not even know which star this was, for the Vorkendrian Heresy lies like a great black curtain across history which only the brightest of lights shine through. Sharn's Reach was a system full of asteroid belts and gas giants, and the Daedalus crew made a fateful decision: they were, as they more-or-less had to completely recycle-and-replace the Daedalus anyway, going to perform what the Daedalus' designers had considered a necessary and possible, but purely theoretical, process: a twinning.

Essentially, in addition to recycling and copying the Daedalus, they were going to build a secondArk-Mechanus at the same time, and make sure that sustainable supplies of everything were apportioned to each ship. Naturally, they named this ship the Icarus, after Daedalus Son, and sent it on its way.

This was our ship, and long did we voyage onward into the void. I will not speak of the Rise of the Beast-Kin, the Days of Rage, the Vorkendrian Heresy, the War of Liberation, and the Reformation or the Great Discovery which followed, for all of that is taught to children in school, but I will speak of the founding of High Tail Station.

The foundational column of High Tail Station began to be put together in Anno Animalibus 1402 when it was decided that the world of Tolkien needed its own orbital transit port. The Haghni, those bred of Lion stock, were the first to occupy our station, and this has put its stamp on its culture and nature: our Bio-habitat areas are mostly African Jungle and Savanah, and our biggest number of anthros are those from African animals. There are, of course, a few of the Ur-Stock here as well, and they too have mostly self-selected to be African biomorphic in nature, with lustrous dark skin, broad noses, full lips, wide brown eyes, tight curled dark hair, and strong teeth.

The station grew rapidly: Tolkien proved to be in an advantageous orbital Epicycle as a transshipment hub for reaching the outer belts of Blood Dragon, and High Tail Station prospered as a result. Another reason for High Tail Station's prosperity was our culture's acceptance of plural marriage, PROVIDED it did not become coercive or religiously mandated.*
*(Sanctioned, yes, mandated, no; which, though crucially important, has at times been a difficult line to draw...)

Many triads and other stable group relationships from elsewhere in the system came here and joined the early Haghni workers in setting up the early communities, so, while of course, the preponderance of families today are more typical single father and mother nuclear units nearly everyone will know one or more so-called 'polycules' with either one woman and multiple men or one man and multiple women or multiples of both women and men all mixed together. This latter arrangement is especially common among the Haghni who still make up about 10% of the population, the highest percentage of any Anthro breed by far, who are quite comfortable on our station living communally as a 'Pryde' with typically one to three males and between seven and twenty-four females plus associated offspring.

Like the lions that are the basis of the anthro side, the males defend the home, which basically involves all the, cooking, cleaning, sewing, accounting, home appliance repair, and making sure all maintenance orders are put in on time and with all i's dotted and t's crossed: as well as being trained in multiple martial arts and weapons techniques. Their wives, by contrast, "do the hunting": they work the jobs, they shop for groceries, they go to PTA meetings, make sure the kids do their homework, take out the trash, and organize any parties that the men may be expected to put on. (Oh, the women also do any cooking that involves actual deliberate open flames, like barbecue or pit roasting. This seems to be a holdover from an area called only 'South Africa' on Earth-That-Was...) This 'Pryde System' is one of the central tenets of so-called "Cat-Holicism" one of the main religions of our station, which is the distant descendant of 'Christianity' from Earth-That-Was. The Cat-Holics are an offshoot of the "54-й Реформационный новый свет Про-Твиннинг Синода фундаменталистского универсального унитарного мормонского обета / Завета" and no, they don't know what any of that means either, much was lost during the Vorkendrian Heresy, including the ability to understand the High Holy Tongue of the Christain sects.

Our station is very religiously diverse. Like all worlds and independent stations of the Stellar Federation, we have Freedom of Religion, but we take it far more seriously than most, with even publicly declaring your religious affiliation while seeking or holding public office being grounds for disqualification/impeachment. The standard answer expected of all public officials when asked their religious affiliation while on duty is "I am of all faiths, in my fashion," in neutral tones and further probing being met with a stonewall of repeating the original phrase or saying "I shall say no more on this," once in neutral tones, then treating further questions on that topic as if the questioner had not spoken. Similarly, it is grounds to strike down any law or ordinance if it can be proven that the primary source of that law or ordinance is religious in nature, such as laws that one cannot sell alcohol on Sundays*, or prohibitions on marriages between different breeds of anthro.
*(As opposed to the station's brief flirtation with simply prohibiting the sale of alcohol outright, in Anno 1425 -1429 which everyone agreed was an unmitigated disaster to the point that when the law was repealed not only did they repeal it but all persons arrested for possession and consumption of alcohol during those four years (as opposed to mass production and/or distribution, which were considered more serious,) were summarily pardoned by the Station Governor at the time, Kieara Nuala's-Daughter.)

The Government of the station occupies a strange middle ground between independence from and subservience to that of the planet of Tolkien which it was built to service. Our highest official is the 'Station Governor' who acts much like a planetary President, but who technically is under the authority of the President of Tolkien in certain respects, but NOT in other respects that the planetside District Governors are... As an example, High Tail Station does not print its own currency, exactly, but we have a branch of the Planetary reserve bank with the full printing equipment, and the Station Governor must sign off on that equipment being used to make a run of currency issued from the station branch of the Planetary reserve. We also have independent 'border security' and passports, separate from those of Tolkien, you can come to High Tail Station even if the President of Tolkien has placed you on a Non-Visitation list for whatever reason and so forth, while if you are blacklisted from High Tail Station getting to Tolkien is going to be difficult, and leaving again harder still. We also have our own political parties and slightly different electoral systems than the planet we service, with stricter standards for campaign finance, truthful political advertisements, and a single chamber legislature: the Station Senate. Moreover, we have many more political parties than on the planet below, where most areas are Bicameral with two parties representing the 'left' and 'right' our Senate has a three-dimensional spectrum of parties representing everything from "Squid Communism" to "Monster Raving Loonyism"* and back around to simple "Democracy".
*(Their Motto of "Vote for insanity: you know it makes sense!" gets them a surprising number of supporters...)

This is one of those Late Night Updates, as of now, since we have some further information on each of the games, I'm going to be trying to stick to the posted update schedule for this thread as well until its time to start the game, just to see if I CAN stick to it. See you all around noon or so hopefully.

Is perfect punctuality really necessisary? Surely just knowing that you're going to be updating 2-3 times today rather than continuous is still an acceptable timing.
I have. I prefer the scaley ones, but that's mostly because the fur seems like it would be hard to clean post-coitus due to dragons' tendencies to...erm...."make large deposits"

    VERY Early Morning Post:

OK, it's time to talk system a bit.

Since it seems pretty clear right now that Isakaitis Blues is going to win, here's the data on that one.

In this system each character has only five stats to keep track of:

    Body: representing all things physical.
Mind: representing 'book-learning', logic, maths, engineering, science, and all such mental pursuits.
and Soul: representing a force of will, charisma, social skills, and almost all magical abilities.

Then the two secondary stats: Health Points and Mana Points.

All of the primary stats are rated on a scale of 0 to 16, where 1 is a human infant, 4 a typical human adult, 10 an Olympian or similar specimen of prodigious talent, 12 maximum human potentials, and 16 the upper limits of what I'll allow in the game.

Everyone's three base stats start at 3, then they get 9 more points to distribute among them. (Note that characters from any of the established trans-dimensional empires cannot have any stat above 10, as they would have been missed.)

Non-human characters may deduct up to two points from one stat to allow them to spend more points elsewhere, but be aware that any character with a 'Mind' stat of less than three is not considered able to give informed consent and therefore cannot participate in sexual situations.

The other two stats are both rated the same for starting characters: 0 to 10 out of 10, expressed as a fraction. I'll explain more about what you can DO with those later.

Sorry for bailing on everyone yesterday, I'd stayed up all night the night before to get to a doctor's appointment that I thought was at 09:30 but turned out to be at 10:45, so I could have made it without staying up. This, in turn, meant I was exhausted and slept until less than an hour ago* after the appointment.
    *(As of starting this post.)

Alright, taking the William Teal Example that BladeGod has so helpfully provided:

William is in a bad way.

With only 2 out of 10 HP left he is badly injured, suffering a -4 to all is stats, and with only a single MP left, so he cannot self-heal. (3 MP) Worse, as he only has Four-body, at this level of damage William is incapable of performing sexually, (Must have all stats of two or greater, except mind, which requires three,) so the most obvious way of regaining mana is closed to him. Willaim will probably spend several days at least recovering from this situation; if he survives at all. Furthermore, as one of William's stats is at zero, due to wound penalties, he is currently unconscious, and ergo can do nothing but hope that he doesn't die of exposure or being attacked by scavengers before he heals enough hitpoints to get his wound penalties down by one. (Two DAYS.) Better hope you have friends to help you, William.

Now that we've covered most of how HP works, (If you've been paying attention,) It's time to talk Mana.

As already mentioned, if you have 3 MP you can self-heal, but mana can be used for more than that: in fact, it can do almost anything with enough of it. Using mana requires training, and, other than self-healing, almost everyone's abilities are idiosyncratic, basically, every character starts off with one special ability they can do for a given amount of mana and then, over time, can learn more, or improve their native gift in some way. Initial powers will be negotiated during character creation.

As has been hinted at, sex is the best way to regain mana: consensual sex restores 1 MP to both individuals, but must be a new KIND of consensual sex in some significant* way if you have had sex with that individual already that day/night. Conversely, Non-consensual sex, aka Rape, costs both individuals an MP, and worse, causes the Rapist to be unable to gain mana from consenting sex with that individual for the next lunar month. (Though that scenario is unlikely in any case.) The inverse is not true to the victim, should they have consenting sex with the rapist before the end of that lunar month they will gain mana as normal, thought the Rapist will not. Also note that prostitution, as long as the prostitute freely chooses to act as one, does not count as rape, so the victim of a rape & kidnapping attack can choose to have sex with the Rapist for the purpose of gaining mana that would allow them to escape. The regaining of mana occurs when either partner orgasms for the first time in a given encounter, the loss in case of rape when the rape begins. Note that this DOES mean that a rape victim can acquiesce in the middle of the rape and regain the mana point they lost at the beginning if they or the rapist cums. Also, note that either partner can rescind their agreement at any time and the other has one post to cease their sexual activities or it becomes rape. Consent is KEY in this world.
    *(Oral, Anal, Vaginal, Digital.)

Some items, such as blasters, give people access to other abilities than their native one, but these will be explained when the item is gained.

    Morning post.
