Wha-? Oh damn, idiot! Jack jumped up, as Alexandra made her presence known, he looked at her a bit shocked, as his hands went to cover his erection. He didn't manage to, his rock hard cock refusing to be hidden completely from Alexandra's view. His effort to conceal his privates, left his toned chest, arms and legs completely exposed. He dove down to grab his t-shirt, giving him some modesty, 'A-Alexandra... uh, so sorry. One thing happened and then another and then we heard noises from the neighbours... they were going at it like... I don't know... Bonobos? It just... kind of happened.' He looked over to Laya with a shy smile, showing her that he didn't regret a second of it... just that they were caught in the act.
She looks over her shoulder from the kitchen, bending over as she inspects the water damage. "What? I was just kidding. You're adults. You don't have to apologise."
The awkwardness of the situation still hung in the air, despite her reassurances. Laya got back into fastening her clothes on, trying to think of proper words, then taking a glance to the kitchen. The water was mostly cleaned up now, though the wet towel was still the floor, heavy with all that it had soaked up. "Uh..sure. Anyway...those two were going absolutely crazy and it knocked over that shitty broken lamp and the sink was overflowing...Jack caught it just in time and one thing lead to another...but it was insane. Did you ever see Final Destination?" It was the closest comparison that the doctor could think of, a bit too flustered to use a typical professional kind of manner. "..I think I understand them a lot better now though...I don't think anyone is really allowed to have a choice in just ignoring it...or at least it's a bad idea to do it. Just kind of wish they explained it better. There's a difference between "People need to do what this says" and "It will make rube goldberg death traps, if you don't do what it says."
Jack nodded, 'Uh, yeah, I'll just go get dressed...' He grabbed his stuff and found a spot that was out of sight before getting dressed. His cheeks still beet-red, he returned to the kitchen, 'D-Did you have a good time with your... boyfriend?'
Jack chuckled, 'Oh, complicated, huh? I won't pry then.' The teacher could feel that his spirts were lifted a bit at that particular bit of news. He sat down nearby and sighed, 'I think we really need someone to guide us... maybe I should seek out Adel after all? Though, she might be a bit pissed I didn't trust her the first time around... ha, how could I?' He retrieved the card her had been given and looked at it.
Jack had finally gotten a look at the card...and strange wouldn't put into words. Namely, because there was absolutely nothing exciting or unique about it. A plain looking card that didn't suddenly shoot flames or anything of the sort. Just a bar name, address and number. But the name.... Rumors Apparently the twins had a sense of humor. Laya had looked over Jack's shoulder to take a look at the card, while wondering what to say to Alexandra. "You had fun, at least..." Unsure of what to contribute to the conversation of her lovelife, she focused on the card. "Maybe a little mad...but, it seems like if they're supposed to help, they're going to have to. If their boss person really knows half of what they act like he does, he probably wants to go...or wants us to change our minds and try avoiding them....I'm not sure, if we CAN do anything that they won't already know about, before we do it."
Alexandra nods. "I don't particularly like the idea of going straight to our enemy, but we can't hide away in here for the rest of our lives, and I'd really like to be able to go to work tomorrow without worrying that I'll be murdered." She grabs a leather jacket and throws it on over her sweater, and puts on some sneakers. "I'm ready to head off when you guys are."
Jack went back to the couch and grabbed his jacket, 'Let's head into the lion's den, then. Can't be worse than getting surprised by another of "final destination" chains.' He chuckled nervously.
She chuckles with him. Once they're all out of the apartment, she closes and locks the door behind them. "If they show up here, a locked door won't stop them, but maybe it'll keep a burglar out." She goes down to the garage. "Am I driving, again?"
"That might be better. I still feel like I could crash after going so long being everywhere at once." With the mutual agreement that it would probably be necessary, they head out. The drive only takes about twenty minutes at most after punching the address into the phone's gps. Nothing fantastical occurring along the whole drive that leads them to the place. Parking Laya's car in the lot across the street from it, they got a proper look at the place. From the outside it was a fairly small looking and simple place. Not old or run down. Simple and rustic, but also kept well maintained. Sitting in the car and waiting for confirmation if they were really going to risk going in, Laya started biting at her thumb again. "So, we're really doing this, huh?"
"If you want, you can stay in the car. There's no shame in it. Maybe you could call the police if you hear something happen."
Jack sighed, 'I don't see much better options at this point, Laya.' He put his hand on her shoulder, which he hoped was reassuring, 'C'mon, we'll be fine. We just gotta have each other's backs.' He opened the door and stepped onto the pavement.
Laya debated for a minute. "Hmm...I could...but maybe..." Outside of the front of the car the light began to distort as she made another version of herself...sort of. This one looked, mostly like her...though the gaze seemed more tired and out of focus than usual. Other than that, she managed to make it move after a few tries, walking around to open up the driver's side door for Alexandra and then doing the same on the passenger's side for Jack. The three made their way to the front door. The sound of some smooth jazz kind of music being played. Maybe not the kind of taste someone would expect assassin's to have. Other than the sounds playing, the murmur of chatter was light and when they pushed open the door to enter, it was to a surprisingly respectable looking establishment. Not heavily sophisticated, but definitely a decent looking place. Alexandra felt a huge influx of emotions from the combination of alcohol probably making people moere sensitive to them that basically drowned out her ability to hone in on anyone specific. A few customers were in the far end corners, mostly minding their own business, while the counter was apparently abandoned, nobody currently tending. It was replaced by a paper note propped up in the dead center of it neatly folded. Be back in fifteen. Don't get cute and touch anything behind the bar. I'll know. Logan. For fuck's sake. Don't test me.
Since Jack felt no danger either, he joined Alexandra at the bar, sitting down on a barstool next to his former teacher.
Waiting for something to happen, and with no one to serve drinks, she decides to make small talk with Jack. "So, how have things been since you graduated? Did you apply to get into that college you were thinking of?" She sighs. "I'm guessing not, since you never asked me to write a letter of recommendation." She gives him a chiding look. "You have so much potential, Jack. It's painful to watch you waste it."
'My mom doesn't make enough in her job to send two kids to college at the same time and my sister came first, so... bad luck?' Jack chuckled, 'I'm doing part time jobs for now... maybe I'll go to college once my sister has graduated, or maybe I'll find a job I really like. Things are up in the air at the moment... the whole strange powers thing not to mention.
