Summary: The Drained Maiden is an exploration starship, staffed with an all-female crew. The purpose of their mission is to explore and study unknown regions. Unknown to the crew they are also part of the experiment. All systems of the ship, are controlled by AI - a number of programs. The programs have the following directives: 1. All of the directives are to be kept secret. 2. Safe return of the ship to Homebase is of top importance unless it clashes with the first directive. 3. The study of alien flora, fauna and aliens are to be conducted unless it clashes with the first or second directive. 4. Various social experiments are to be conducted on the crew unless it clashes with the first or second directive. 5. The crew's needs and safety are to be kept unless it clashes with the first, second or third directive. Appendix: If a lifeform or artefact is found, that is deemed to be of great importance to Humankind, the priority is to be put on returning to base with said object/lifeform. The crew is deemed expandable. Author notes: This is somewhat inspired by Alien movie and Genesis Alpha One game. In this game, the players, will not be the crew of the starship, but instead, they will be programs, whose purpose will be to experiment on the crew. F.e. by adding to crew's (or single crew member) food stimulants or locking two women in the room then raising the temperature, to show on radar only worlds that would interest AI, to ensure that alien plant/creature interacts with the crewmember - while keeping other crewmembers in the dark, etc. The players would interact between themselves, setting the targets and the methods the said targets are to be achieved. When the consensus is reached, the plan is implemented. Lack of consensus will result in a lack of action. GM then will describe the effects of said actions on the crew. So, anyone interested?
Like I said before, I don't usually go for sci-fi settings, but might be fun. Are characters aliens or all humans? So this is similar to the space pirates one with voting to agree on action...might need some adjustment so people end up properly doing things, so more actual interaction would be good rather than just like "A2" or "B3" and I get that's how some story games work on the mainsite. The system just doesn't really work as well for a forum group game I think. Kind of hope we're still doing the cyberpunk thing long enough to get to the parts I wanted to do.
@Auraicide Yes, the cyberpunk will continue. The aliens - yes, acceptable. But they would need to be humanoid and female. You are thinking about the Quest system (I don't consider it bad - it's just hard to keep it going)? Well, I considered it, but wanted it to be more interactive. Players would discuss with each other and set targets. An idea: Let's say... each player's program would be responsible for the vital system, and ignoring it for too long, might result in the said program just blackmailing the rest with shutting down f.e. air, or disabling engine's core. So, some bartering would come into being. Just an idea, for now. Or we could go with Cylon or Geth consensus. @moonblack Great! Well, since there are people who are interested, we can discuss the details. The origins of the ship - would it be better to be a republic with all beings equal or would it be preferable to be Empire with non-humans (Or non-dominant species - f.e. Asari being dominant, with Humans being simple workers) being lesser species, some even slaves. Of course, the players can submit some pics for the crew members - just to set the mood.
Playing as an evil AI? "You move like an insect. You think like an insect. You ARE an insect. Take care not to fall too far out of my favor... patience is not characteristic of a goddess." Errr, yeah, I'm in.
Well, how about an Empire pretending to be a democratic republic, where everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others?
Something like an oligarchy? Or corporation? For ai looks? Go with whatever you like. There are no limits.
