I think the reason is the css-formatting; if the width is too small, some elements goes behind others or sth. like that.

Found another mobile glitch. You can't remove a bookmark from a story on mobile. No matter how much you click on the icon, it stays green.

Anyone else getting weird rendering behavior? When the page finishes loading for me, it suddenly becomes noticeably blurrier. It's perfectly sharp as it loads and then its last action during loading is to become blurry. Happens in reverse too; when I click on a button to do something, for a second before the new page starts coming on, the old page snaps into sharper focus. I have no idea what could cause this.

Added information: the page also becomes less blurry when the bookmarks drop down is open, and returns to bring blurry when it is closed.

This is, again, all on mobile.

Random suggestion: in my opinion a really good way to see how much your story is followed is to count the number of people that bookmarked it.
It's a better indicator than the number of total views, imo. Could be visible to the story owner only or rendered public.

One suggestion: Turning this thread into a sticky.

Another suggestion: Separating the actual Celebrity stories from stories about TV/Anime/Games/etc.

Actually, I'd be for that suggestion Selias, primarily about "Separating the actual Celebrity stories from stories about TV/Anime/Games/etc."

We need an inactive area and a warning tag for inactive stories. There are 2 issues. First there are a lot of stories that only got one thread or a couple initial threads and then were never touched again, but there is no clear indication of this (I and occasional got in this area). In fact, if you go to some categories, the entire first page of browsing is all inactive, which gives a horrible impression and make it hard to find things you want to add to where the thread won't languish. These inactive shouldn't be deleted, but they should be out in storage unless and until there is actual work on them; they should certainly not come up at the top of browsing lists, hiding stories people are actively working on. The other problem is inactive editors. There are some long, good stories that just trickled out, and people that stopped coming. There is nothing wrong with that, but people should be warned before they try to add. A sticker on the story to the effect of "this editor isn't around much, add at your own risk" would be helpful for avoiding these situations.

Also it would be nice if story summary bars showed the last edited date, not the creation date. It makes active stories look old and abandoned stores look active by sheer virtue of when they were made. At the very least show both. I know I have received comments to the effect of "I thought this was dead since the date is so old, glad I looked at it". There should be no doubt about what is and is not active from the browse view.

There should be always a way to add (quality) threads. There are some suggestions about that (approval in absence of the story owner)

Unless and until we get that having a warning about absent editor is necessary. Nothing will cause people to leave and never come back faster than working on a thread (or multiple threads, since you can currently keep going before approval) and having it 'ignored' by an editor who hasn't been on the site for years.

Another suggestion is adding a link to chyoa.com on chyoo.com. I'm not sure how long Chyoa has been around, but I only found it at the end of August.

We have no control of Chyoo.com. No one does. The reason this was done at a separate address is that the old admin vanished years ago and the site was trundling along on prayers till Friedman made this new one. No one has any ability to modify anything whatsoever about the old site.

We still haven't heard any word from literotica (The host) about taking over from the old Chyoo.

To be honest I think that finding a solution to the missing editor "issue" is way better than telling users to avoid certain stories.
Yeah, there's plenty of that. In this case a way to tell users that story is still in its early stages would be useful. We should talk about how to calculate the threshold (because if u think about it a story can have a lot of threads but still be "1-2 threads deep".

I would like the trusted writers idea to be brought back.

For those of y'all who don't know (most of y'all should, but I'll say it anyways), trusted writers had their threads automatically approved (no need for input from the editor) and could group approve threads. This would be a good way to keep certain stories flowing without direct input from the editor except in extreme situations.

In order to keep folks from abusing the system, the editor should have the option to make so they are the only ones to approve trusted writers, or they can make it so people are auto-promoted after a certain number of editor approved threads.

Isn't there already a section for Anime/Games/TV, aka the Fanfiction section?

Personally, I'd add three of them:

    - Movies\TV series inspired
    - Anime\Comics inspired
    - Videogames inspired

    1. It has already been written on the forums here, that if a story's author is inactive an author may ask a moderator/Friedman to make them editor until/if the original returns.
      • I do believe that it would be great if in "Author's Hangout" or general, a post with a more official seeming title is created and sticky it.
        • Awesome it would be if a moderator would mention ideally how much time should elapse before contacting a moderator for this.
        • Also, authors may 'reply' with a link to their first "pending" post and whatever else they wish to comment on.
    2. I feel that discriminating against beginning stories with low post depth is bad. Someone may 'choose' to perceive it as a negative but that is their choice; And defining what is 'low' thread depth leads to speculation that lacks precision or accuracy.
    3. The Story Summary already does show when the story has been updated last. {Second detail line, on the right}
    4. In addition, in the story map every post/thread that has been added, since chyoa.com went live, shows when that post was submitted or updated with the date on the far right.
    5. If you have the story bookmarked and have already viewed the thread before it was updated, the post is highlighted blue.
I believe that is what "Story Feedback" thread on the forums is for. Post a subthread for a particular story if it fails to exist, or use the existing one if it does. Of course, the Story's author only gets notified of new feedback if they post at least once in that particular subthread.
    • I think it would be great if a story's author and editors are notified by default if their post gets feedback via the forum's "Story Feedback" thread regardless of whether a subthread for their story already exists, or whether they have posted in the subthread.
I wish I could edit/delete comments after they are already posted/saved. Sine qua non, that would eliminate most of the double, triple, or quad consecutive comments in a post. lulz

I believe allowing the public to comment on pending posts, is a wonderstruk idea.
    • Since a story may undergo radical changes, the author and contributor are able to more accurately comprehend what their audience wants.
    • This is ideal versus the alternative of the author/contributor finding out 'after' they are already done with the post and less likely to rewrite it.
    • Allowing individual comments to remain public also allows others to see what has already been mentioned and avoid repeating themselves if they choose to want that.
    • At the same seeing other member's comments allows a reader to gain greater clarity and focus in communicating what in particular 'they' choose to want.
I believe that censoring and keeping information secret rarely benefits anyone. Even if the means seem to fail to put the public at a disadvantage.

The exact opposite can also be said. Slighting or being treated unfairly fails to be applied to anyone, by allowing the public to rate and comment while a post is "pending".

The story's author still maintains cardinal authority to approve/disapprove regardless of how many ratings/comments may be made on a post.

    Hello all,

I may have missed it, but I don’t think it has been discussed (and if it has been, I add +1 to the request ;) ) :
"Not approved threads" are not showing in the story map. I understand it is because they are not approved. But the thing is that I get a lot of notifications on stories I have bookmarked, and can’t find the new thread in them. In very big stories, it is really tedious to scroll through all the map to find that there is nothing new to see in it, and trying again all the options to find the new one is a "no no".
Is it possible to show "not approved thread" in the map, with a different color that indicates they are not approved?
Or, maybe make the notification system sends notification only after the thread as been approved?

And I agree with a previous suggestion: a "Mark all as read" button is a must have. There is a lot of stories I've already read on chyoo and I don't really feel like going through all of them just so there is nothing green anymore :/

you will only get a notification, if the thread was approved.

as a workaround, you can go to the storymap and open all threads in new tabs (pressing STRG and clicking on the link should wor on most browsers); after that you can close the whole window

If so, then it doesn't work as intended. I get notifications for the stories "Trust", and if I remember "Knocked up notion", with no new or updated thread in the story map.
Same with another story, but can't remember which one, I've kicked it off my bookmarks because it was becoming boring to check for nothing.
I think I get that on others stories too, but didn't trace them.
Maybe it comes from my browser, I don't know. (FI I use Safari (last version), on a Mac)

Yes, I can do that, or just click the thread then backspace. But it is a corvee, we loose the fun of interactive stories :/

I fully understand these are not big issues, but well, we're in the suggestion thread, so that's my 2 cents.

After "testing" a while, I'm not sure, if a like/dislike system would be that good.
Now I try to rate every post I read
1 Crap, can't imagine, anyone likes this
2 Don't liked it, but well, maybe others do
3 Solid post (it's good, but there could be some improvement)
4 Good (story or language is really nice)
5 Excellent (story and language are perfect)

    With like/dislike I would give a
Dislike instead of 1- and 2-star-rating
    and a
Like instead of a 5-star-rating and maybe some 4-star-ratings

With a like/dislike system, at least a 3 would become neutral. And neutral means no feedback.
And I think, that 3 is a much more usefull feedback than nothing. (I really think there is nothing bad with a 3)

I hope, I don't upset anyone with my straightforward point of view.
