The Witcher - Stories from The Path RP

Gunther is pacing back and forth in anger at the head of the convoy, but he comes to his senses as his daughter in law approaches, Mirellia clearly having some sort of calming effect on him. "Sorry to disturb you, my dear. The bastard Alderman is saying he has no supplies to give us, that his labourers are all out sick, that he can't let my men take the stuff from the warehouse for safety concerns. In reality, the stupid prick clearly just wants a bribe."

"That is concerning." Mirellia replied as Gunther informed her of the situation. "But, I am sure the Feldonna name still carries weight. So perhaps you could threaten him?" She gave an answer befitting a noble born woman, since Mirellia only had little experience in merchant matters.

On horseback, the two women make good time, avoiding any confrontations with bandits or monsters as they go from town to town. Gynnie proves to have been worth the trouble, guiding the pair away from several dangers, such as a monster nest and a hidden bog that threatened to drown them. After many days of travel, Danielle sees Novigrad in the distance, where her husband awaits.

The free city is one of the greatest in the region, a haven of trade and culture, though the Church of the Eternal Fire has its headquarters here as well, a religion which has had its share of prejudice against magic users in the past. Heading along the road towards the city, both horses stop in their tracks as a young man, maybe in his twenties, bursts out onto the road in front of them, running for his life.

Behind the young man follows a warrior in full plate armour, chasing after him. "Come back here, you murdering bastard!"

The young man moves behind Danielle's horse, panting. "H-Help me!" The armoured man stops in front of the two women. "Stay out of this, ladies." He raises his sword and begins to approach the young man.
Danielle could gather this look serious, but was left looking in confusion. The boy didn’t look that dangerous, but they clearly had their reasons to be out for him. “Murder is a serious crime. I trust you have evidence?”

The redhead nods. "I am. Abigail is my name. Please, take her inside and lay her down on the table." Abigail walks into her hut, a sparsely decorated wooden structure that is filled with the scent of incense. "That arrow - scoia'tael?"
'Ard, and this is Estelle and the witcher is Kyra,' Ard dismounted and hitched his horse to a tree outside, helping Estelle off her horse and doing the same. Offering his support to bring her inside, Ard helped lay her down on the table in the hut.

Ard nodded, 'Yeá, they planned to kidnap her to get at her father.'

The man easily parries one strike and dodges the next, but the spit catches him right in one of his eyes, forcing him to blink, and in a split second of vulnerability, Varrin manages to kick his leg out from under him, sending the assassin sprawling onto his back.
Varrin pressed the attack without even a moment of delay, kicking at the hand holding the dagger, trying to disarm him, then followed with an attack with his own daggers, one aimed to stab the man in the foot, the other aimed at his heart.

The soup itself isn't particularly great, but after such a long ride and strenuous combat, it hits the spot. The woman thinks. "We wouldn't be able to pay a lot, but maybe if we pooled together some cash with the gameskeeper? " She nods. "Yeah, we'd be willing to hire you, as long as you're not too expensive. We could afford maybe...300 crowns?"
Trista shake her head. 100 crowns per person isn't too much, and they have no idea what kind creature they will face.
"It is too small, because we don't know what kind risk we will face. 600 crowns." She said mercifull, if only because they are three to paid.

Gunther grumbles. "If I could, I'd have him dragged out and put into the stocks, but the little shit is protected. He's practically sold the whole village to a business partner of mine, a powerful noble, in return for carte blanche to do whatever he wants here. If I touch him, it could cause problems with my partner, which will cost me more in the long run than a bribe." Gunther tilts his head. "I don't suppose you'd be willing to negotiate, would you?"

Mirellia's eyes widened in shock as she learned the details, "That is unfortunate." She sighed, but as Gunther said his proposal. The sexy milf stared at him for a moment, "Me? I do not know much about deals, and such. But, I suppose it will be worth a try, seeing how we'll be in danger if supplies aren't restocked." She replied in a concerned, yet strict tone. "Very well, I will see what I can do." Mirellia nods, waiting to be lead to the Alderman's place.

Danielle could gather this look serious, but was left looking in confusion. The boy didn’t look that dangerous, but they clearly had their reasons to be out for him. “Murder is a serious crime. I trust you have evidence?”
"Evidence? Who do you think you are? The fucking heirophant?" The man in armour gives Danielle an angry look, but his expression quickly softens, and he looks regretful for his outburst. "I apologise, miss. The woman who was murdered was a friend of mine, so I got emotional. It's reasonable of you to want evidence." He looks to the young man with disdain. "My friend was murdered with magical fire. The boy here is a magician who uses fire in his act, and was the only magic user permitted to enter my friend's home. It's obvious that he's the culprit." The suspect blanches. "N-No, I'd never harm someone! I'm not strong enough to cast flames like that, and besides, a sorcerer could have broken in!" Danielle feels that the young man has magical energy, but her senses aren't sharp enough to tell if he's being honest about being to weak to use combat magic.

"I see. I've also had trouble with them, from time to time." Abigail moves to a shelf, opening a jar and pouring some powder onto her hand. Moving up to Estelle, the herbalist blows the powder in the young woman's face. Estelle coughs, before looking up dreamily. "W-Woah..." She seems as though in a daze. Abigail begins collecting her tools. "Just something to dull the pain. I find it works better than liqour." The redhead explains.

Varrin pressed the attack without even a moment of delay, kicking at the hand holding the dagger, trying to disarm him, then followed with an attack with his own daggers, one aimed to stab the man in the foot, the other aimed at his heart.
The man jerks his hand back, dodging the kick, but is unable to dodge the blade which lodges itself in his foot. He does manage to grip Varrin's other wrist, however, stopping the dagger headed for his heart in its tracks. "B-Bastard!" The assassin picks himself up slowly on his impaled foot, grappling with Varrin and gripping the other wrist tightly.

Before he can do anything, however, Madeline tears the dagger from the throat of the dead man, and plunges it into the torso of the one still alive, who gives a cry of pain and lets go of Varrin's wrists.

The woman stares the witcher down for a few moments. "Fine. 600 then, but only if you kill the thing. I'm not paying for a job half done."

Ard leaned against the wall of the hut and watched Abigail work, giving her some space, 'Tell me if you need a hand.'

Danielle remained quiet, trying to listen to both points and weigh them. “It’s important you bring the killer to justice, and it’s also important to be sure that you are pursuing the right lead.”

Danielle, began to slowly reach for her bag, no sudden moves to the horsemen as she began to pull out a flower head. “The evidence is circumstantial at best...however, I do know a little something about magic myself. I can read fortunes and divine the past and future every now and then. If you’ll allow me, I think I might be of some help here.”

Danielle neglected to mention that it wasn’t as if trying to get actual visions wasn’t perfectly reliable even when they worked, but waited to see if the man would stop her as she placed her fingers on one of the flower petals, ready to pull, taking a look at the young man. “If it’s alright with you, I’ll need your name, your starsign and your palm for best results.”

"Thank you, my dear." Gunther smiles.

Heading into the small market town, Mirellia sees a number of muscular tattooed men outside the alderman's place. She's no expert, but they seem more like common thugs than town guards. Inside, she finds a well decorated office, with a man sitting behind an ornate desk. The man, in his early thirties, perhaps, with a reasonably handsome face and a bushy beard, looks up at her in surprise, though clearly it's a pleasant surprise, judging by his expression. "Well, hello there. You're with the Feldonnas, I assume?"

Varrin seized the chance, slashing at the man's throat with his dagger and at the same time punching the man in the gut hard with the other hand.

Vizima marshes, Temeria
Verena narrowly dodges out of the way as the bloedzuiger charges at her, claws swinging in an attempt to claw her apart, and maw snapping in an attempt to leech the blood from her body.

The creature, which had been ravaging the small fishing communities in the swamps outside Temeria's capital, draining its victims dry, bolts forwards once more, claws aiming at Verena's arms in wide slashes, while it moves its mouth forwards to get at the witcher's neck.

Spotting the group of thugs, Mirellia makes sure the stiletto hidden inside the sleeve of her dress was ready to be drawn, just in case something happens. And as she entered, she had no trouble believing that the Alderman was corrupt. "Yes, I am." She replied as she closes the door behind her, "So, I'll assume the reason you refuse to sell supplies to us is because of your "backers?" The sexy milf said as her glare intensifies. "You do know that if push comes to shove, your life won't be worth anything to your employers."

Verena dodges The Beasts Attacks to tire it out. She dealt with its kind before but The Appearance of The Creature still disgusts her. As The Creature becomes more aggressive and bolts forward, The Witcher slides under it to avoid its attack and slice its vulnerable Chest open with her Raised Sword.

Trista nod to her.
"So we have a deal." She said and turn back to her companions.
"It look like we have work to do tomorow. What do say Gustav, are you in? And what do you think dwarf?" She asked and drink another gulp of vodka.

Ard leaned against the wall of the hut and watched Abigail work, giving her some space, 'Tell me if you need a hand.'
Abigail nods, taking out forceps and a small blade. "Put a hand on her chest and hold her down, please. With what I gave her, her mind won't feel any pain, but she might still buck and spasm a bit." Estelle looks up dreamily, having totally forgotten where she is, and why.
