I updated the basic moves on the first page to reflect some of the changes we've been discussing in here.
There are scenes where "and you don't get caught/in trouble" would make sense, like the "public sex" scenes in the movie theater, say this one: http://chyoa.com/story/slut-world/thread/on-a-10-choose-3-for-you-and-luna It might not make sense to have to choose "and you don't get into trouble" in every case. And you could always roll a miss. I wonder if "and you don't oopsie it somehow" makes more sense as an option for the 7-9 cases, which Apocalypse World style rules treat as "success with a trade-off or complication".
You can always get in trouble. You call out another girls name, her boyfriend walks in, ninjas attack, she asks you to meet her parents ... whatever. But there could be an "oopsie" list instead. So the option would read as: / You don't have to pick one of the following: - You get in trouble - She passes out - She loses -1 Desire - You have to promise her something - You're exhausted - The girls make a move ... What else could you include for costs or complications?
Some of those things look like good ideas for rolling 7-9 when trying to tell a NPC to do something, not just for stalking rolls, or end up rolling a miss.
Good thinking re Tell her to... on 7-9 as alternatives for having to turn her on. Particularly -1 Desire and You Have To Promise Something, but maybe also The Girls Make a Move (Take You Somewhere, Do Something Non-Sexual First) I think the 7-9 rolls for She Begs You For... could use some applied creativity for the complication. This might be "She Begs You For One Thing... or She Begs You For Two Things, plus Take One Complication", like the original premise.
I had this wild idea for a 3rd SW story: It's set in an alternative, larger Earth, and it's under a "mystical steampunk" era. If I were to create a PC with magical abilities, would that count the same as a "Super Power" character move? The main focus would be to allow for the one thing I have yet been able to write out in my other 2 SW stories, and that is "going on an adventure, or something, or someone attacks" on miss/time passes rolls. It would, of course, draw out the gap between sex scenes, but if anyone has read my own created stories on the site, then you could guess that I enjoy building up plots that build-up to sex scenes, so it gives the erotica more meaning. That could be another way to go about writing out the result of a 7-9 roll for when a NPC begs for something; like the person begs for 2 things, but in return, your PC have to promise him/her something--like not telling a certain person or group of people (i.e. her parents, or his/her significant other).
Or promise to *tell*, which could set up complications for the PC. "I'd love to, but I have to tell Mom I'll be out late with you." "I'd love to, but Dad has to come pick me up by eleven." "OMG, yes!"...calls on phone..."Hey Lisa, I'm with Chuck. Chuck, tell Lisa what we're gonna do!"
Yeah, that's great! So for a lot of the basic moves (stalk her, tell her, force her, get out of trouble), 7-9 could be "success with a complication", that all draw from the same list of complications. The "sex moves" (fuck her, she sucks your cock, cum in her face) could all have the option "you don't have to pick a complication", with the assumption that otherwise you do. The complications are basically the girls making a move. So on a miss, the girls should be making a strong move, something that really causes problems for your PC and forces him to act. I may rewrite the basic moves page sometime soon to refect all that.
Brian, my hospitalized truck driver, is having a string of bad luck with his dice, but I haven't given up on him yet. Maybe he and Jodee and Trisha #3 will be luckier, or maybe he'll pull out of one of the other mishaps.
It might work nicely, when using the Desire variant rules set. Of course, we won't know how it really works until the new version is ready, & the stories have been transferred to the new server.
Seeing anything you like in the new Chyoa, or are the interactive features you wanted still in the future? (Mostly I see changes in view/navigation, and a modification of linking).
And @SwampThing , I have to thank you again for your Powered By The Apocalypse rule adaptation. It works really well as a story driver. I'm tempted to set up my own story root this year if I can come up with some good settings or premises (Monsterhearts, even, to take a published PBTA game, or even a cut-down AW itself).
The modification of linking to older threads is a little better. Getting the formatting tool to pop up takes a bit of work, though, but at least I don't have to worry about putting those silly codes in. Speaking of SwampThing, I wonder if he's on holiday himself.
Just popping in to say that as a fan of AW and writing smut, I love Slut World. Also, as an inveterate rules tinkerer, I may set up my own variant.
I'm wondering if I can take one or two of the stories I have on Slut World, and do a sort of "Chyoa 2.0 Reboot" in writing out my own stories. I'll still roll a 2d6 dice, with modifications, when a scene permits, but I like to be able to continue writing my stories at my own pace. Besides, I'd like to take the "Eric Antonelle" stories I have, and do a sort of reboot, with a few alterations to fit the new version of Chyoa. In other words, it'll actually begin where he first meets the dancers that I've featured.
Dear @SwampThing : I'm still enjoying writing for your story, especially the "Variant Rules: Female PC" with Mary Forbes and Gloria Bates's adventures. Thanks for giving me inspiration for starting my Lusty Magical Academy story with an adaptation of your Powered By The Apocalypse rules. Any good words for us after more than 2 years in Slut World?
