    Setting:

On the eve of the first punic war, Carthage lay defeated and was forced to abandon Sicily, allowing Rome to annex the entire island. One by one, Rome either vassalized or conquered each city.

One of the lasts cities to fall to Rome was Egypt's colony city of Nane. The city was created before the fall of Egypt to Persia, after which the colony was left to itself. Without any support, the city was destined to fall, just as did the Carthaginian and Greek colonies.

It did not mean, that it would do so quietly. Many forces gathered in the city, ready to defend it.
The Egyptian soldiers were ready to defend their home and ruler.
The defiant survivors of Carthaginian forces.
The Greek Hoplites, searching for glory.
The Nubian mercenaries left without any hope to return home.
Even the neighbouring Amazon tribe came to honour the alliance.

But those forces were not enough, to stop the Rome war machine – yet the war has drained the Roman forces and Roman General had to supplement with other forces.
The core force of the Roman army was Roman Legionaries.
Additionally, Roman General employed various other forces.
The fierce Gaul mercenaries from the northern part of Italy.
The Gladiators and Gladiatrixes were filled, of various origins, ready to fight on the orders of their masters.
Fearsome Nubian mercenaries eagerly accepted the Roman coin.
The Greek allies answered the call of Rome.

All participants knew, that the city would fall. The soldiers would be slaughtered and the rest would be enslaved. The Roman senator who sponsored the Roman forces, swore to capture the Egyptian governor and ride with her tied to his chariot, during his triumph in Rome. Yet he was not the only one greedy for treasures and slaves. Each soldier and commander was looking forward to getting their part in the looting.

The city was already under siege for a month and all knew that the city was done for. During the last moments before the fall, many started thinking of ways to save their skin – either through combat, bribery, escape... or betrayal.

    Players:

The player can take any role within the boundaries:
The amazon, Roman soldier, Mercenary commander, Governor of the city, Roman senator or even a slave.
There will be no skills necessary, only a basic description for the character, his/her role and some history.

The game would end with the fall of the city and a short scene for each character.

Small question, that city Nane is real or your own creation?

My own creation. As far as I know, Egyptians did not have any colonies on Sicily.

Yes, the greece have their colonies, like Syracuse. It was big city, where genius Arystoteles lived and get
conquest by Rome in two years siege. Maybe that one will be more intresting?

If we are going with that, more interesting would be a siege of Troy, with all the heroes and gods going around.

The idea is that Tjf and I try a co-op as both, GMs and players - and see how it goes in a relatively short RP.

Hey pair of GM. When we could expected begin of the game? After Tjf finish Witcher rpg or sooner?

  17. majus

    majus CHYOA Guru

    Sooner, I would think.
We are giving time for players to work up the kinks of their characters before starting.

  18. Tjf

Definitely sooner. The Witcher RP is coming close to the ending (You're well into the final 'act'), but the Nane rp will start first.

I still really don’t have any ideas what to be doing for this. I need help.

You don't need to necessarily play a prominent character here.
You could go with a simple citizen (housewife, prostitute, slave, priestess) in the city, going on with their daily lives. The same can be done with Rome's army - there are many non-combatants following the army, and freshly captured slaves.
You could go as a leader/member of a group of citizens of Nane, who want to survive the incoming sacking, so they are ready to betray the city and the governor for their own gain.
You could play as a barbarian looking for loot and slaves to gain in the siege, a tired roman soldier, looking for return with his loot to Rome.
You could play as a Roman senator, who has business in taking something/someone from Nane, political opponent/supporter of general.
You could go with a Numidian slave in Nane, planning to capture his owners the moment the city falls and exact his vengeance on the woman, before selling her to slavery.

    Did that help?
