Like many users on Chyoa I did not like nor bookmark chapters before; it was not until I started to write that I realize I was a bad reader. To like, to favorite a story, or following an author is easy to understand. Still, I am unsure how Bookmark a chapter works, and I also see some behavior of people bookmarking my chapters that I don't understand. What does the action of bookmark a chapter do exactly? If I bookmark a chapter, will I receive a notification when another chapter is added, continuing the bookmarked one? Only directly on that chapter or any chapter down the tree from that one? I also have seen people bookmarking chapters that are not the last one in my story. For example, people reading and liking my chapters and bookmarking the last one they read without reaching the last chapter, which I don't understand. Does that mean they will have a notification when I add a chapter down the story tree, or could they use the bookmark somehow to return to the chapters they stopped reading?
Yes. (Given the respective notification setting is ticked.) Only if a chapter is added to the bookmarked chapter. If you read a book, you would put your bookmark between the pages you've just finished, so you know where you have to continue when you pick up the book next time. Readers might just use bookmarks the same way. (So they will probably delete the bookmark once they continue reading.) (Another use case I can imagine is to remember some specific chapter because it contains something you want to come back to once again.)
It is embarrassing but until reading your answer I didn't know there was a list on the page where I can see what chapters I have previously bookmarked. Now I understand the people who bookmark chapters in the middle of the story, they can continue later from that list.
