What the fuck?!? Sana froze for a moment, then tried to take a good look at the figure, to know what she was dealing with. She also prepared to dodge, in case the best(?) attacked her next.
It took her a moment to realise what she was looking at - a giant bear! Graaa! It gave a loud roar again, making Sana shake with primal fear in face of this giant predator. It stood up and started sniffing the air...
Oh, crap, oh crap, OH, CRAP!!! Was all that passed through Sana's mind. Fortunately the bear did not attack right away, giving her a few moments to gather her bearings and try to come up with a plan. I need to lure it away from here so that Kome has time to recover. Maybe I could lead it to the camp of the soldiers? Then I just need to lose it and get back here without anyone following me... no pressure, right, Sana? Talking to herself, even if only in her own mind, was probably not a good sign... At least all the adrenaline from the danger should make up for my tiredness... I hope... Sana came up with a desperate plan as she watched the bear and waited to see what it would do next...
Sana's body shivered. If only she had more tattoos! More control over them! She took a step back as the beast gave another roar. It turned to Kome and was about to move at her, when Sana threw a branch at the bear, bringing its attention at her. Graaaa! The beast gave another roar and advanced on Sana. She turned on her heel and started running. Spoiler: Sana's plan 73 - fail As Sana ran, she realised that she could not outrun the beast Spoiler: Bear's attack 78 - fail Spoiler: Sana's counter 12 - success The bear swept it's paw at Sana, but she at the last moment rolled on the ground. She lashed her leg in a kick, hitting the creature in it's head with her heel. The beast shook it's head for a moment, stunned.
Oh, fuck, oh, fuck, OH, FUCK!!! Sana screamed mentally as she realized the bear was too fast for her. Desperate she rolled on the ground... and got lucky, stunning the beast with a well-placed kick. Seeing that she attacked desperately, attempting to take advantage of the bear and kick its head a few more times.
Seeing her chance, Sana went to attack. Spoiler: Sana's attack 52 +10 (bear stunned) - success The kunoichi moves around the mighty bear, hitting it was a flurry of kicks and punches, all the while dodging bear's paw swipes. Spoiler: Bear's attack 55 - 10 (bear stunned) - fail As it tried to strike her head, Sana dodged. Her tattoo suddenly went materialised, detaching from her body and hitting the bear's face, moving straight into its eyes. The bear roared in furry! It scratched it's face, concentrated on removing the petals from it's face.
Lucky!~ Siezing her chance Sana took advantage of the bear's temporary blindness and pressed the attack, hoping to do enough damage to make the beast retreat – more than that was too optimistic, in her opinion. Then again, even just surviving the encounter unhurt would be a victory.
Encouraged by her success, Sana pressed her attack. Spoiler: Sana's attack 43 +20 (bear blinded) -10 (enraged) - success Using her skill, to keep the dumb beast blind, she moved around it and continue attacking it. Finally, under her constant attacks, the predator run off into the forest. Sana's legs gave out under her, as she realised that she managed to drive away the mighty beast...
That was... too close... For a few moments Sana remained on her knees and panted. With the battle over the adrenaline left her and exhaustion came back. I am never doing that again! She decided as she slowly got up and headed to where she had last seen Kome. It was clearly time for them to go home and let the others work.
Sana walked back to the place of her first encounter with the bear. She found Kome laying unconscious on the ground, her hair covering her face. She was breathing weakly - it was obvious that the sudden hit from the beat left her wounded. She was good to transport, but it looked like it would take her some time to recover.
Sana moved the hair to the side and looked at Kome's beautiful face. “Come on, Kome, time to go home.” She spoke softly to the unconscious woman even though she could not hear her. Carefully she picked up the wounded kunoichi and headed back to the village. It was time for them to get some much-needed rest.
As Sana arrived at the valley, she was meet by Sho, who quickly rushed up to her. "What happened?" She asked as she checked Kome. "Are you followed?"
“I... I don't know, but I hope not.” Sana answered honestly. “We encountered a huge bear in the forest, bigger than either of us. We got surprised from behind and Kome was knocked unconscious. I managed to lead the bear away from Kome and then fight it off somehow – don't ask me how, I can't believe it myself.” She explained what had happened. “Anyway, I am exhausted, so I will get some rest. Take care of Kome, please!” And with that Sana left Sho to care for Kome and went to get some much-needed sleep. (I think I will switch to Kiyoshi next, as she is the only one who has not gone on a mission so far.)
Kiyoshi tasted the air as she got up. It smelled and tasted fresh. She slid back her mask and stretched. Kome was in a coma - they would need to find some herbs or buy medicine for her. Sana was sleeping of her night - she looked exhausted. Samui and Sho were patrolling the valley and looking over the slaves - the slaves will be used to gather the berries later today... They still needed to build shelter and recruit villagers, to even start the village...
Alright, let's see if I can find some healing herbs – both to help Kome and to have some on hand, in case anyone else gets wounded. Kiyoshi decided as she too headed for the forest, alert for any sign of danger – after hearing what had happened to Sana and Kome she had no desire to encounter the bear, or any other forest beast. Well, maybe if it was a regular rabbit, or a deer – something easy to kill... but definitely not a giant bear, especially since she was on her own.
Motivated, and full of vigour, Kiyoshi made her way to the forest, ready to hunt... Spoiler: random encounter 6 Kiyoshi spent the entire day walking around the forest... only to find nothing. She returned to the camp tired and dejected after a long day...
Are you kidding me? Talk about a waste of time... Kiyoshi sighed, annoyed. At least she had avoided getting in any trouble. But the complete failure to find anything of value still annoyed her. “Sorry, everyone, I found nothing.” Kiyoshi sighed again as she returned to the village. “I'll get some rest, then watch the prisoners so that Sana can rest. Hope you two have better luck.” She told Sho and Osa dejectedly, then looked for a place to rest. (Not the worst possible result. Back to Sho next time.)

Sho needed a little time to catch her breath and recover, a happy smile on her face. After she did she got up and got dressed, then thought about what to do next. So far we have not had much luck with the forest. Maybe I should go explore the hills instead. The question is, should I go alone, or bring someone along. I could take Osa along again – we worked well as a team... but Kome is still unconscious, and both Sana and Kiyoshi are tired. I should leave Osa to watch the slaves while the others rest. I guess I will be going alone... Sho decided and headed for the hills.
Sho made her way up the hill - or rather, a mountain. It was too big to be considered a hill. It was also covered with trees. Spoiler: Random encounter 7 Spoiler: Awarness 23 - success She paused as she heard a noise. She kneeled and waited as the noise intensified. Slowly, they came into a view. Leading was an older looking man - behind him followed three women. A family, Sho realised. tired... their eyes, without hope. All of them were carrying bags, their clothes were tattered... Refugees - Sho realised.
