As they waited for the group to approach, they noticed that indeed, it was the group lead by Hinshi. They were bringing building materials. "Welcome." The kunoichi greeted them, as she approached Kiyoshi. "We brought enough materials for houses... and one facility." Kiyoshi thought about it for a moment. They could either build small prison, where they could hold prisoners - probably will need to find someone to guard the facility. Or they could build training building - with gold they could develop their skills there.
Kiyoshi did not need to think about it. While a prison would be useful eventually, right now they didn't really need it – their slaves were more useful out of prison and there was no telling how long it would be before they captured anyone worth keeping there. A training facility would be a lot more useful, as it would allow them to improve their skills, and that was something they needed. Plus, the training facility did not need to be guarded, unlike the prison.
As the builders started constructing the training platform, the rest went to building houses. Four small houses from wood - all made for the four kunoichis. Also, one bigger house for the Zan family. Kiyoshi thought, that they would need to eventually build a prison - to hold prisoners and a pit - to break prisoners into willing slaves/citizens and kunoichis/ninjas. But for those buildings, they would also need some people to man them... Before she left, Hinshi left 500 coins of gold - enough to train one of their own, to upgrade her skill... if they choose to. The day went by and Kiyoshi started feeling tired.
After a brief consultation the four kunoichi decided that Sho would be the first one to use the new training facility; Kome, having fully recovered, would check the nearby villages for any jobs available; and Osa would stay in the village and keep an eye on things. Kome stretched as she finally recovered from her wounds. She stretched her legs, then made her way to the Shoda village. Spoiler: Encounter 1 Spoiler: Awarness 32 - success As she walked through the forest, she stopped as she noticed something. Several empty tents - a small camp. But, as she looked closer, she noticed that no one was in that small camp - it was empty.
Realizing that the camp was completely empty Kome immediately took a look around, searching for any sign of danger. Maybe the camp was abandoned for a good reason, or maybe it was put there as bait for the careless. Either way she decided to avoid it and continue on her way – unless she spotted any danger...
As she looked around, Kome realised, that she was in a hunter's camp. There were some supplies and tools for hunted animals in the tents. A fireplace was warm - it looked like the people from the camp party went hunting and would probably return later...
Oh, wait, it's a hunter's camp... not what I thought... still, no need to make enemies by stealing from the hunters – they might be of help to us later... Leaving the camp behind Kome continued on her way.
As Kome arrived at the Shoda she started looking around for the assignments. She did found a few... Bandit hunt - Lady Mako Mitsugu wants the local bandits gone. She will pay 50 gold coins for each bandit taken care of. Message delivery - Lady Mako Mitsugu wants a message delivered to her liege. She wants a kunoichi to deliver it. Payment 100 gold coins. Find a missing person - A wife of a peasant went missing. He is willing to pay to have her found. Payment 10 gold coins. Find proof of infidelity - local smith wants proof of the infidelity of his wife found. Payment 30 gold coins. Take care of the competitive seller - A local trader wants his competition to be removed. Payment 80 gold coins.
Hmm, let's see... Kome examined the assignments and considered each one. The bandits are best left for a team, too risky for a single person. The message delivery seems suspiciously easy, yet well-paid. I bet there will be “complications” along the way, so also best done by a team. The “competitive seller” thing seems like a spat between merchants, and potentially dangerous – merchants tend to have guards, and this one is likely no exception, if the reward is any indication. The infidelity thing... hard to tell if there is any actual infidelity, or if the guy is just looking for an excuse to get rid of his wife. That leaves the missing wife. It pays the least, probably because the client is just a peasant, but hopefully it will also be the easiest. Having chosen a task she went to speak with the client and learn more.
Having decided on her task, Kome made her way to the peasant's house. The house was on the border of the village. A man with a bushy beard was working on the fields, along with a young man and woman - probably his children.
“Excuse me!” Kome called as she approached the bearded man. She woukld check if he was the one who posted the job and if yes, ask him for the details.
The man turned to look at Kome, and stopped what he was doing. "Yes, stranger." The man looked her over. "Are you perhaps here, about the job?" A light entered his eyes.
“That is correct.” Kome confirmed. “You are the client, I take it? What can you tell me about the job?”
The man nodded. "My wife.... Two days ago, she went to forest to gather some herbs... That was the last time I saw her." He explained.
