The hovercar moved into the air and started flying up, joining the rest of the cars in the traffic. As they flew by, Jacob's eyes looked at the advertisements that they were passing by, the people on the ground... his eyes fell on the gathering of people making their way through the streets- with banners and signs... "Are you alright senator?" His driver asked as she continued flying.
Symania nodded as she started entering the information on her pad. "Whom should we approach about licences? Asari, Inheritor states or former Dictatoriat states?" She asked. "We could gain some contacts through that contract... but there might also be drawbacks..."
The tiniest hint of a smirk graces Tylani's features at the sarcastic reply, and it felt only fitting to respond in kind. "I see you are still as sharp as a plasma knife." Pausing for a brief moment, the Asari's gaze could not help but shift to her depressingly empty glass, before she continued. "I will admit, I find myself rather disappointed with our recent performance. I would have preferred to not do this, but I have little choice now sadly. Everyone needs to meet at Headquarters as soon as possible, and it is imperative that a united front is created there today. All this division is only making the League look weak." Letting the words sink in with her fellow senator, Tylani took the opportunity to refill her glass and then just as rapidly down it's contents again. "Furthermore, given our aligning interests, it is only natural that the JL will come crawling to us begging for votes. We can extract far more meaningful concessions from them together." The Asari grew silent again to let Ciara process it all. "Call up whomever of our fellow senators you can and spread the word. I will be doing the same until I arrive at Headquarters in 30 minutes. The League simply cannot go on as it currently is if we are to have any hope of gaining a majority."
Ciara frowned. "The league is weak, fractured and barely holding up... as is the entire senate." She paused. "And so are we. Do you truly want to go around our glorious leader and call the other members of VEL? That might provoke even greater division in our party..." Ciara said, making Tylani pause, as she was reminded about the division in their own party. She had clashed with the chairwoman more than once... and that usually left the party weaker than it should. The downsides of democracy. On the other hand, on the upside, she had a skilled fellow senator, like Ciara. Tylani might need to... placate the chairwoman, before making any action, or try to convince her... Or she could go all out, potentially ripping the VAL party apart for this one cause...
The driver looked down at the crowd and frowned. "This is a march of Sons of Uric." She answered. Jacob frowned as he heard that. Sons of Uric, named after Trevor Uric - Snactum Mesa's Commodore, who died in battle against Asari Republics. He lost the entire fleet under his command and failed to achieve much, but by some, he was considered to be a patriot who died defending the state. Sons of Uric were known to be nationalists with xenophobic tendencies... Lately, with more trouble in Sanctum Mesa, the movement started gaining popularity... "Oh-oh." His head turned to look at the driver who was frowning.
"Oh, great, patriots." Jacob rolls his eyes sarcastically, before turning his attention to the driver. Noting that she probably wouldn't get worked up over nothing, he goes from his charming regular self to his stoic action demeanor - his military career was short, but he went through enough action to react without panic. "Tell me, what do you see?" He gives a clear instruction.
Stifling a sigh and running a pair of fingers along the bridge of her nose, Tylani nodded along. "I am well aware, Ciara. I will make one final attempt to convince our illustrious chairwoman to step down, because she obviously has no idea how to run a kiosk, let alone a political party. If she continues to refuse after that then I will move forward with a vote of no confidence. If that causes her or her supports to leave, then so be it. The League must become united, so we can finally focus on actually improving the deplorable state of our Republic."
The pilot pointed at the section of the city. "There is another march taking place there." As Jacob looked out, her could see humans, elves and Asari taking part in the march. "They seem to be walking into each other's directions." As he looked at the other march, Jacob realised what it was - the march was for the anniversary of 'Liberation of Shaki camp' the elve's resistance action that resulted in victory over Dictatoriat's forces and liberation of thousands of slaves. It was somewhat a touchy subject - because hundreds of Soldiers from Sanctum Mesa serving the Dictatoriat lost their lives... were massacerd by rebels in frenzy.
Ciara nodded her head. "I will start setting up the meetings... will you be going to meet the chairwoman first, or will you speak before the rest of the party?"
"Damn it, this is going to turn into a riot if things keep going like this. Take us down, in between the two marches."
"I agree- wait what?" The woman's head snapped to look at Jacob, her face screwed with disbelief. "Sir! This is highly dangerous! I will not be able to protect you from this entire crowd!" She stated her voice tense, trying to convince him.
"Given my arrival at Headquarters is imminent, I'll talk with her in private. No need to give her the opportunity to rally her supporters. Until we meet again, Ciara." And with their goodbyes exchanged Tylani cut the connection. Afterwards she could already feel the need for another shot of alcohol, and decided to indulge while she still could. Once she could feel the wonderful warmth spread out from her stomach, the Asari senator pressed down the button opening up the aircraft's intercom. "How long until our arrival, Kaylessa?" She promptly asked her pilot, while also preparing additional messages to be sent to the remaining uninformed League senators.
There was a silence, before she heard Kaylessa speaking through the speakers. "We should arrive in about 10 minutes, senator." The pilot answered smoothly.
" Well lets see Asari i dont like that like the state of Sanctum mesa i too would depend on the Asari for money and lets not speak of the possibility of rising Asari businesses which would make Asari weapons very common here . Dictatoriat states i can already see myself being slandered that i want slavery back and that i am Dictatoriat puppet or some other bullshit and dont think see them having that better weapons they would not have that high of a economy yet so i guess its Inheritor states if you dont have anything to add to this "Says Blake now resting in his seat
"Thank you, Kaylessa." More need not be said, and with her question answered the Asari turned her full attention to the list of messages she was preparing to send out. It was a simple request for a party-wide meeting in a few hours to discuss recent issues, as she feared letting too much slip would allow the chairwoman's supporters to alert her of Tylani's intentions. With a flick of her thumb the dispatches were sent along to every senator she had contact information available for, and leaned back into the soft leather behind her. Now she just needed to finally arrive and they could have a.....heartfelt face-to-face discussion regarding the League's future. Tylani could not help but let a pleased smile creep onto her lips.
Symania nodded. "Very well." She started typing something on the datapad. "Our contractors might push us against Asari, to get their way." She paused. "Do you have any preference about the nature of equipment? Should it be smallarms like pistol or rifle? Or maybe something like body armour? Or maybe" She asked. Blake looked to the side, considering the question - just in time to see the target of their destination - the factory he owned. The building dated back to the time of the raise of Dictatoriat... and its aesthetics mirrored it.
The ship hummed lightly, but there was barely any shaking as the compensators did their work - a solid piece of Asari technology. Tylani opened her eyes, just in time to see the landing pad the ship was about to land. Before the shuttle touched the landing pad, the communicator came to life. One look was enough to make the senator wince - the chairwoman was calling her.
'Of course she would do this now, of all times.' Tylani thought angrily. She could not help but frown for a few brief moments before bracing herself and accepting the call. "My, what a coincidence." She began the moment the holographic projector sprung to life, not allowing the chairwoman to get the first word in. "Here I have just landed at Headquarters and you call me up. Is there anything I can do for you today, Miss Chairwoman?" The Asari's tone was sweet, but held none of the expected warmth.
"Looking as beautiful as always "Says Blake in joking manner before addressing Symania " From my days of selling weapons if a customer had to chose between a better weapon that would help him make more damage and kill his enemy or body armour something that would keep him alive the result would be always the same he will buy the better weapon because in a conflict safety is luxury and killing your enemy is a must "So it should be smallarms that we chose "Says Blake
