Be at peace, Muma the Brave. Is the horn multi use? If so it does free up a lot of mana use. The Blood vial is a very close second, to power Cherchiel up some more. Would the Cloak hid Yulia from the Tower Below and cancel the mark? Also how bad is it that "The Tower Below wants you"? Cause that seems bad... We need all the power we can get. The bow doesn't seem as useful for this party so that we could get an item, but we don't really need another weapon right now. As for the tome... How bad are these curses and debuffs. Also do we know what school of magic it is? Could we trade the bow for knowledge on the book? More firepower is what we need, could we choose what spell we get if we trade? I'm tempted by the book, unless it would be too debilitating for Yulia. As long as it's not something like half strength/magic, lose and arm, or must suck every dick in sight, then I say we learn what's in the book. We were scared of the Boar mask for a while as well. Also, either potions or an offensive spell from Alide's service. More variety of spells or a spell for Cherchiel would be the best. A support spell for Cherchiel could work as well if it's a duplicate. Once this is all taken care of then off to the caves. Check and see if Dahlia is still around, probably should have picked up the strap before defeating the Beast, but that's hardly a loss if she's gone.
Wait...Dreg is the thing in the dark? Did I just completely miss that? Nice to get you on the team Goma, since you are an alchemist...anything you can do with the things we have? We do have some alchemy items after all. These curses sound devastating, on the other hand, Dahlia seems to imply very strongly that our current approach is not going to cut it. On the flip side, we just got an extremely valuable support spell. Combining Energize and the horn with Boarchiel and then cast undermine on an enemy should be quite amazing. Perhaps we can find a middle ground and get another spell from Dahlia? That would provide us with another fetish, but since we now have a party with us, I do believe this would be less of an issue. In that case I would once again go for Support. I believe the Dagger would be best suited for Goma, as well as the horn. She doesn't strike me as particularly powerful, so we should give her a support role. Well, if we follow the queens original outline, our next target should be Lumberer. I do believe this makes the most sense as well as it allows us to finally rest freely on this floor. Altough I believe we have to have another round of housekeeping before we can tackle that one. To summarise: alchemy with Goma(potentially) give dagger and horn to Goma Get support spell from Dahlia trade evil book for offensive spell
First and foremost, what does Goma want to contribute to the team? Does she want to fight, support, or scout? What kind of alchemy can she do? Knowing this we can outfit her to her strengths. I don't think it came up before; Queen, where do the different exit paths lead? If you want to help more this would be the biggest boon right now. That was a strange interaction with Dahlia.. Can we trust her now? Could she explain our mark in more detail? Don't trade the evil book! So from my understanding, learning the spell is instant-ish. If combat seems dire then I propose we learn what's in the book as a last ditch effort. Since you roll for encounters, I'm proposing if the roll would spell game over for Yulia, then she would use the book and gamble for a plus 1 or more however the curse could just make it worse. We need some rest first, but then it's Lumberer hunting time! Yulia seems distracted by that mark, you may need to look into that.
Newest Post: Took long enough for Yulia to actually get the one fetish she definitely had in "secret" all along
Ha, excellent, we got this spell pretty much for free! It is certainly tempting to give this spell to someone else. I don't think Yulia really needs to upfrade her heal That said, I would rather give this one to Goma then Cherchiel. Of course that is if she even has any mana to work with. Is there any chance for us to know if anyone works with the same basepool of 100% Mana? As for the alchemy, I waver between explodey ball or strong time juice. If the other voices choose one of them i'm fine with either. So, I suppose we will keep the Demonic Book then? Very well, in that case I second wariders proposal of using it as a trump card. Next up, Yulia needs to rest to get her Mana back up, altough please don't rest in the cave as I don't want us to run into Dreg just yet. If Lumberer shows up, thats not that big of a deal as we want to run into him anyways, Of course, Cherchiel should still be on guard, so she can warn Yulia.
Also I just realized I never addressed Gambio... Warrider suggested as much a while back and by now I kind of assumed everyone had figured that out XD Sorry about the lackluster reveal.
I'm just more sensitive to Dreg seeing as I tried to defend him, only for him to turn into an even greater douchebag... Good that we got a fetish that we already had... Bad that we solidified a fetish just before two heavily female floors. If stereotypes are two be believed; Dark elves will be masochistic and evil, closer to the tower Below. Fairies will be mischievous and evil, though Muma was not so maybe they're more neutral. I like the fairy path at the moment. Goma getting heal doesn't sound bad as long as she has the mana, otherwise Cherchiel. Can Goma identify the unknown liquid we still have, I don't remember what it was but thought we already asked this before? I second the explody ball for more offense. Resting away from Dreg sounds like a plan then Lumberer hunting time, though maybe we should get a dagger or something from the blacksmith for Goma first. Goma was pretty vague on Will Fight, so long range support would probably be better for now.
Newest Post: Little tired today... Probably could have had them run into Lumberer this post, but didn't want to write a long one, so running into Lumberer and the fight will all happen thursday probably, so... I guess... post your strategies for fighting Lumberer now
Very well, it is time to finally deal with Lumberer I suggest we move the battleground over to Deer Pond. I doubt any of you want to battle on Muma's resting place. As we already established, Lumberer is a big hulking brute. Primitive, but not so primitive that he wouldn't use weapons to fight. I believe we should fight fire with fire here. Cherchiel equips her Boar mask and get an energize, Goma sounds her hunting horn. Then, we hit Lumberer with an undermine. Boarchiel will hit Lumberer fast and hard, then Yulia will launch a surprise attack from behind. Goma will provide support from the distance via heal spells if needed. Ideally, I would have you hide behind some trees as cover. My biggest worry here is that Lumberer might ignore Cherchiel and go for Yulia or Goma. I believe Yulia will be able to defend herself and worst case she has her halo, but Goma is definitely an issue As such, I suggest giving the grenade to Goma. Should Lumberer attack her, she can chuck it at him. Our last ditch effort would be the Demonic Spellbook. Obviously that should only be used if things are truly dire. We do have one mana potion left in case Yulia needs a refill.
I second everything Gambio says. Yulia, remember you have the Halo so if the fight goes poorly try and get your companions to safety. But I have full confidence that this will be a stomp (or at least a success on 2-20 ). Now for some pep talk just before battle... *Metaphorically sits on Boarchiel's shoulder* Listen here simple one. That giant oaf in front of you, the one with the tree, he wants your woman. He wants to take Yulia and defile her, then when he's done he wants to eat her. Do you want that? Of course not! So what are you gonna do? (Waits for response). Damn right! Beat him in strength! Rip him to shreds! Show him who the real beast is! You are strong! You... are... Boarchiel!
Newest Post: Lumberer Fight (This was almost a loss... The combined stat stuff brought Lumberer's difficulty down to 6 from 40... then Yulia rolled... a 2... Luckily I realized I had forgotten the grenade which actually dropped Lumberer's difficulty down to 1 which meant Yulia still managed to win despite her abysmal roll)
Haa...this is very nerve wracking XD But good to know the buff stack strategy works. Good job, you guys. I doubt we get any use of that club. Well I'm sure Cherchiel could wield it, but I our perfectly crafted spear should definitely be stronger. Perhaps we can exchange it to something more useful by Alide, altough I think she is already gone for this floor. The Hide outfit might be more worthwile. I'd say we put this one on Goma, provided she can even wear it. Beyond, now that Lumberer is gone we are once again free to rest. So take a break, you earned it. Oh, and I certainly did not forget that unmastered heal spell on Goma. So let's do the old cast/rest trick to get this one to mastered. I doubt we will get any reward for killing Lumberer from either the elves or the goblins. But might as well check. Next up, we have to consider our options. Are we confronting Dreg or moving on? The reward from the beast was without a doubt pretty massive, and I imagine we get something similiar from Dreg. However, with both the beast and Lumberer gone Dreg shouldn't have any leverage over the goblins anyway, so perhaps we can get him to leave without a fight? At the very least we should choose talk before murder.
This is why we can't trust dice rolls. He was a 40 rating! If you don't mind, what was Ash or someone else? It would help us gage the fights. Also if it was smell should Yulia have been affected or did it just smell real bad XD. Good Job team! Especially you Boarchiel, very nice! Rest, recover, and I agree that Goma should master heal if possible. So far things from floor bosses have been good for us, so Cherchiel should at least try out the club to see if it has special properties. Maybe it's still hits as hard as a normal tree. Same for the thick hide outfit, though that one I'm sure is resistance to piercing and slashing. Unfortunately our enemies of late have been more inclined to brute strength. Alide would be great if she's still here. We should have already asked her if it's ok to fight Dreg again. I believe we got the vauge "he's never been defeated" response before. Otherwise going to the queen seems like the next step, maybe get more information. Then we confront Dreg... I'd rather be rid of him. If I'm reading Lumberer's reaction to Goma correctly... Dregs petty action from before killed a few goblins >_> However we should at least talk with him first, if we can learn what his strength is from someone that would be nice. Actually, the blacksmith may have learned something on his climb? Go stop by and ask him, maybe have him check the club as well, though it's not metal XD
All difficulties start at 20, but in the case of Lumberer he started at 20 then also got special bonuses that increased his difficulty, specifically, his thick skin, stench and his weapon. I stupidly got rid of my notes once he was dead, but I'm pretty sure Ash was around 45-55 difficulty with the main factors increasing his difficulty being his true form and the ice storm as well as having a basic Incubus aura and his weapon. As for why his stench affected Yulia... It really was just an amazingly bad smell, the kind that makes ones head swim and makes it hard to focus
I want Paper Mario's tattle ability! But no seriously, I think an item/spell/partner that would allow us to see an enemies difficulty would be a pretty great addition
I mean while their difficulty is a constant in a sense, the final difficulty is very determinate on various factors, so I don't know how useful it would actually be...
We might need to keep an eye on that boar mask. Sure if all it takes is Yulia to satisfy Cherchiel after a fight, that's no big deal, but we can't disregard the risk that it might get worse with time. I don't advocate not using it, but we have to pay special attention to Cherchiel's post battle state. ...Dreg could be bluffing. We never saw him do anything on his own. Even when he took revenge on the goblins he made use of Lumberer. Or he is actually a superboss and we should do our best to stay away from him. Personally, I'm leaning towards the former. We already had a transforming superboss from hell in the form of Ash. Two of these things would just be overkill. We are at full strength and still have the halo. Yulia will be fine no matter what, and of course we have our final trump card, the demonic spellbook. ... I'd say we kill that son of a bitch However, I want to hear wariders toughts and the matter first before I share my strategy for the fight.
