A whisper was heard in a void. A pleading calls full of hope… and faith. And it was heard. A number of lesser spirits was drawn to the call. It was their chance, to lead the mortals and gain their faith and to ascend into becoming lesser gods. The various spirits initially clashed, fighting against each other… but soon, they reached a consensus. They would cooperate, in leading this tribe – thus they became a pantheon. Through cooperation, they would lead the nation and spread their faith. They would conquer/build/develop/assimilate/appease/befriend/burn all their opponents. The first thing, was to reach out to those they would lead. A first consensus must be reached. Who would the young pretenders lead? The short-lived humans? Decadent Elves? Sadistic Dark Elves? Arrogant winged Sky folk? Bloodsucking Vampires? Or someone else? - - - In this game, the players take on the roles of grater spirits or minor/fallen gods/goddesses. They will choose the cores of their beliefs, their domains, etc. As they are met by one crisis after the other, the young gods decide on the shape of the nation they sponsor, as they not only cooperate, but struggle for a superior position in the nation as the head god/goddess. In times, they perform miracles, send avatars, grand boons, sire children, curse and bless subjects. Thoughts/comments/suggestions are welcome.
Just to make sure: Do the players all lead one tribe together, or does each player lead a separate tribe? I assume it is the former. If it is one tribe, how much influence does each would-be god(des) have?
All players would influence the same tribe. Yes you are right. At start, they would not have much influence... But it would grow with their success and actions.... Or would be shrinked due to failures, enemy actions or fellow gods actions. At first the influence over tribe would be treated as suggestions. With time, the players would crate devoted cults which would follow their orders without question... The influence over mortals would depend for example - on the devotion of ruler, role of priesthood, general situation, previous actions, etc. Basically, it would be a very fluent game~
I think humans or elves would be the obvious choice. Demons also make a decent option. Conceptually, it's not dissimilar to things I had thought of before. I think a interesting dynamic would be what the races's pantheon of gods or spirits are to them, are effectively viewed as demonic or hostile entities of other pantheons or possibly just neutral figures depending on the cultural interpretation. If I can think of a thing to do, I might try seeing if I can stick with this one, though between life and trying to work up the energy to make sure my own thing doesn't die this time, I can't be one hundred percent.
It's a cool idea, but I don't think I'll be involved. i can't seem to keep up with RP for the life of me as long as my life remains the chaotic mess that it is.
