(Meant to keep this as a writing resource for myself while doing the RP, but I can't find anywhere to put it, so I'm just dropping it here.) Costumed Heroes and Villains: Heroes: Spoiler: Mistress Fate Spoiler: Mistress Fate One of the first and most powerful of the new breed of heroes, Mistress Fate has powerful telekinetic abilities, and according to rumours, the power to control time in short bursts. Fate's generally heroic in her actions, though her motivations are hard to parse. Spoiler: Infinity Blessed with the powers of flight and superhuman strength, Infinity is Century City's shining beacon of truth and justice. A straight arrow, Infinity has a black and white view of crime, and a no-kill rule. He's currently the leader of a five-person superhero team. Spoiler: The Gray Branded a public menace by the city, and wanted for murder, The Gray is a notorious vigilante who fights the city's criminal element with lethal force. He hasn't shown any signs of being superpowered, but is well trained and equipped with an arsenal of military gear. Spoiler: Celesta An alien recently arrived on Earth, Celesta is gifted with the powers of flight and superhuman speed. Though intelligence, Celesta has a reputation for being slightly naive and unused to the ways of human kind. She's particularly gentle with her foes, and has never been reported to have killed. Spoiler: The Centurion Spoiler: The Centurion Unlike most heroes, The Centurion's identity isn't kept a secret - it's a matter of public record. The Centurion is a test pilot employed by Arch Corp, one of the most powerful corporations in the world, to dish out justice on the streets of Century City, in a dubiously legal arrangement mostly possible due to Arch Corp's immense wealth. There have been rumours that The Centurion also does the dirty work of his employer, but these rumours are only spoken in private, lest the speaker get sued for defamation. Villains: Spoiler: The Terror A violent sadist, The Terror is a villain with the power to give a person hallucinations of their most potent fears. Spoiler: The Spectre A notorious thief who became completely invisible to human sight, at least when unclothed, The Spectre is a highly skilled but mostly harmless villain who refrains from taking lives in her heists. Spoiler: Dr Strasse A disgraced professor turned to crime, Strasse has made a career out of creating hi-tech weapons and equipment for his fellow villains, but this isn't his real business, just how he funds it. In reality, Strasse uses his ill-gotten gains to acquire 'test subjects', upon whom he experiments, trying to warp their minds and bodies to his will. Spoiler: Toxin A former bio-weapon researcher, Toxin now uses her skills to create poisons with which she holds Century City for ransom. Spoiler: Hammer Equipped with a super-resilient body and a mechanical arm, Hammer leads a group of bank robbers - his gang having committed several brazen heists, and overwhelming the police. The Big Four (Criminal Kingpins): Spoiler: Salvatore "Sal" Palermo Don of what was once the most powerful crime family in Century City, Sal Palermo is a man increasingly out of place in the modern world - on old fashioned racketeer in an age of villains who can fly. The Palermo family isn't what it used to be, since the former don was killed in the crossfire of a superpowered battle, but they still control Little Italy like a medieval fief, with a small army of mobsters, and a wide range of criminal businesses. Spoiler: Constantin Lupei Constantin, a Romanian immigrant, leads the Blunted Sickle, a federation of the various Eastern European gangs in Century City. Though he's generally a respected boss for his impartiality between the gangs under his command, and his willingness to get his hands dirty, rumours abound about his 'eccentricities', such as a tendency to be foppish, and the fact that no one seems to ever recall seeing him outside during the daytime. Spoiler: Huang Daiyu Leader of the Blue Lotus triad, Daiyu is emblematic of her organisation - incredibly private and secretive, with an emphasis on quiet profits and a reliance on silent partners rather than rapid, violent expansion. Spoiler: Dylan Duke Leader of a new and fast-growing crime organisation in Century City, Duke has proven the most willing of the four bosses to make deals with the emerging super-villain population. Whether this will prove a boon, or his downfall, is not yet known. Prominent Citizens: Spoiler: Mayor Kizuhara A prominent local businesswoman who rose to become mayor, Kizuhara Aoi has proven to be an authoritative and respected leader, balancing the interests of the various powerful interests in the city, while trying to deal with the growing superpower crisis. Still, depending on who you ask, she may not be as incorruptible as she seems. Spoiler: Police Chief Dawson From a long line of police officers, Dawson is a somewhat popular, but divisive head of the police. Though tough on crime in interviews, many citizens whisper that the chief targets mainly low-level criminals, and the supers, while taking bribes from the Big Four to turn a blind eye to their operations. Spoiler: DA Diana Cerrone Acting on a personal vendetta, the new District Attorney is an incorruptible firebrand, on a crusade against organised crime and corruption in Century City, disregarding the fact that those are dangerous things to be in a town this dirty. Spoiler: Simon Arch The CEO and owner of Arch Corp, Simon Arch is wealthy beyond measure, and without a doubt one of the most influential people in the city. Simon's company funds The Centurion, a power armored superhero, though for what aim, it's hard to tell. Spoiler: The Alighieri ??? For centuries, rumours have abounded in Century City about a person named The Alighieri, the shadowy figure who controls all aspects of the city from behind closed doors. His identity, age, gender - all of it is a mystery, and this has caused most inhabitants of the city to dismiss the Alighieri as a conspiracy theory. After all, they'd have to be hundred's of years old, which is impossible - right?
