"A burner will be faster." Centurion responds, giving her a number to call. (You can edit your post, copy and paste my original post, click the button to the left of the save icon and choose quote. Don't worry about it, though - Replying is more important for the GM than the player.) Spoiler: Combat Roll D100: Sonata: 30 Thugs: 33 Damage: 3 Sonata HP: 97 As Sonata moves in for the attack, the thug spins around, dodging and swinging his bat at the hero's skull. As Sonata quickly gets out of the way, he feels one of the men slam into him as he tries and fails to line up an attack, causing a dull ache. "Hnnrghh... Yeah?" The sorceress answers groggily.
Some people wave back, but it's an awkward moment, since clearly she's gone far enough from the crime scene that people don't know who she is. "Yeah, it is. We got a call on the team line about some sort of sponsorship deal. But not for the team - specifically for you. I haven't had time to read the specifics, but I'll leave the message for you at HQ." Jenny's beloved says excitedly. "Oh, uh... I'm not sure I can, honey. Infinity's really been working me hard."
"Alright, that works." Vanessa nods, typing down the number. "Once they send me the coordinates, I'll send it to you. Meanwhile, I need to speak to my employer, so if you'll excuse me." With that, she turns around to leave, and makes sure Centurion isn't following her before speeding back to her parked car, where her civilian clothes were.
[Thanks! One more question since I'm not totally sure how the system works yet. Is there a specific way I need to invoke Nico's Kali martial arts Talent or is that already being applied? Sorry for being a bother.] "Grr," Sonata growls under his breath. I hate being outnumbered this badly. He lunges for the same man as before, feeling challenged by his evasion, feinting to the left to draw his eye before attempting to stab into his other side.
"Good thinking. If they mean well, then they can introduce themselves like civilised people instead of hiding." Esmerelda nods sternly. "Well, I suppose we could send it to the police, or the owners of that chemical plant. That would probably be the traditional method of handling this situation. If we wanted to figure it out ourselves, hmm... I'm not quite sure." Sapphira takes the opportunity to pipe up, flipping onto her back so that the couch no longer muffles her voice. "One of my exes could maybe help. She's got her own lab, and one of her phd's is in tox...toxi...costomy?" Esmerelda shakes her head. "Toxicology. It's a suffix the humans use to denote the study of something." The blonde merely blinks in response, before saying "Whatever, the point is that she should have the gear to identify the stuff in the vial."
Spoiler: Stealth Roll D100: 92 His vision shared with the creature, Squidlock slinks his way out of the alley and across the street. Dodging the sister's cat, he slivers up a wall and inside an open window. As the woman goes back to her exercises, body moving rhythmically as she listens to music through earbuds, Squidlock is free to explore. Spoiler: Luck Roll D10: 6 Any hope that he'd find Linda Lee here is quickly squashed - the house is clearly empty besides the occupant he's already seen. Still, Squidlock sees that his time hasn't been entirely wasted. The sisters are obviously close, despite their very different lifestyles - next to photos of the sister and an average looking man who's probably her husband are framed photos of the two sisters together, smiling happily at the camera. A trophy case stands proudly against one of the walls, pictures next to each gleaming cup displaying Squidlock's target at various competitions - Muay That, Jiu Jitsu, etc.
(No bother at all. No need to do anything, I just forgot to apply your traits) Spoiler: Combat Roll D100: 40+30 Remaining thugs: 1 Repositioning himself, Sonata slashes through the guy who dodged, before two of his friends try and attack simultaneously, only to meet the same fate. The remaining thug blanches, and turns to run, his boss's threats not enough to keep him in a hopeless fight.
Eyes on the sky, Vanessa can't see Centurion pursuing, nor does she see anyone on the street following her, as she makes it to the car.
Making sure she wasn't being watched, Vanessa hurriedly changes her outfit. Mostly removing her leotard, and combat boots in exchange for her dress, and high heels. "Haah." She lets out a relieved sigh as she gets in her car, and starts it. Now, where are we supposed to meet. She thinks to herself, removing the collar around her neck, and attaching it back to her fur coat.
Sonata doesn't pursue the fleeing combatant. This one is more important. He walks, still guarded, to the original purse snatcher. Sonata checks if the man is conscious by prodding a karambit against the side of the thief's neck, streaks of crimson staining the jade surface. "I was told you're important -- the child of your gang's boss. Tell me their name and where they are. I don't care for keeping muggers around, so answer fast."
Properly clad, it isn't long before Vanessa sees the burner phone light up. Fitzgerald Docks - Bay 15D. 15 Mins.
"I'm, ugh, her brother, not her kid. And I'm not in the gang." The purse snatcher turns, hood falling from his face, and Sonata sees that the boy has feminine, androgynous features like his own. "And I don't snitch." He sighs.
My docks!? Vanessa growls, sending Centurion the address. She drives off soon after, Lawrence, please be safe. She thinks to herself, hoping the help she got won't be stabbing her in the back.
Sonata is surprised by the thief's appearance, expecting someone who looked more like the thugs, but he recovers quickly. "Then why are you stealing handbags? Honestly, I don't really care about the purse. I'm more interested in taking down your sister's cronies than you. Give her up, and you keep your life, your freedom, and whatever the bag contains."
Jenny frowned at the news of her husband's indisposed status. "Well I suppose we're all doing our parts. I guess I'll head over to headquarters and have a look at that deal. Thanks honey, I love you." Psychana closed the line and set off in the direction of their team's HQ.
Arriving at the docks, Vanessa quickly catches sight of Hammer's thugs, blushing as she recognises some of them from her ordeal earlier. They wave guns at her and gesture for her to get out of the car. "Your employee - where is she?"
"I have to make a living somehow." The boy grunts. "And what, you'll go kill my sister like you killed her men." He gestures to the bodies.
Vanessa slowly gets out of the car, raising her hands as she does. "I gave her some time off, since she apparently can't even do her job." She replied, giving the thugs a glare as she made an excuse. "Lawrence, where is he?" She asked, looking around for any signs of Hammer, or her butler.
Heading to HQ, Jenny finds a message waiting for her, as expected, though her husband's not there. A male voice introduces himself as the CFO of Fitzgerald Industries, one of the city's large companies, and invites her to call him back to discuss a partnership. At the same time, Jenny feels her phone going off - Duke's number.
The thugs take their time 'patting her down', before ushering Vanessa up the gangplank of a nearby ship. "He's inside." One of the thugs answers. "And he'll only stay that way as long as your friend keeps her distance." She's escorted to the cargo bay of the ship, where Vanessa fails to see Hammer or Lawrence. She does see Vince, however, the man bound, gagged and bruised, looking up at Vanessa, eyes wide.
