As Vanessa enters the room, she sees that her interpretation of the situation was off - Vixen doesn't seem like she's audition at all, from the way the men look at her, she's running the show. The woman looks Vanessa up and down. "Good looking, but I've never seen you before." She says simply. "You a new hero?"
When Davey pinched her nipples Jenny let out a pleasure-filled squeak. Her lust-addled brain made his words confusing; she'd told Chastity that morning she'd been unfaithful to Harold, why then would her sister tell Davey otherwise. If she'd been thinking clearly she would have recognized that Chastity had no time to correct Davey on her misjudgement. But even if she had the thought never occurred to her why her infidelity would be an asset in getting her into the Platinum Room. Jenny didn't object to Davey's arm around her waist, and she leaned against him for support. "Yes..." she moaned lustfully and began moving towards the staff locker room with him. "we need to clear things up."
Heading in, she sees her producer, a thickset, casually dressed man in his thirties. "Hey, Cal." He gives her a hug as she approaches, a pretty common greeting from him. "It seems like we have a problem - management's cutting us down from two singles to one - and it looks spotty as to whether you're gonna get a music video or not."
Army? Shit, that doesn't sound good. Not wanting to risk opening the doors, in case there are guards on the other side too, Azura followed Daiyu's example, grabbing a glass and pressing it against the other door, then trying to hear what was being said inside the room.
"Oh?" Vanessa mumbled as her read of the situation was off. But she quickly focuses on the more important things, "Vigilante actually. I haven't made a debut about being a hero, nor am I interested. I'm just here cause I heard some things, and I'm strapped for cash." She replied, looking at the guards trying to determine if they're supers.
Davey guides the blonde inside the room. Wasting little time, he's pulled her to him, kissing her hard as his hand slips down the front of her shorts.
As she spies, Azura hears a high, clear voice speaking. "Ladies and gentlemen - thanks to Ace Corp's lovely innovation, which, as we have just established, the fine folks at the company will give me a steady supply of - I don't care if that isn't what we agreed, you should have been more careful when you jumped in bed with a gangster - we have what it takes to make our mark on history. An army of obedient, powerful monsters answering to me alone. With this army, I plan to dominate Century City's underworld - the Triad, the mob, the Europeans, Duke's gang, even city hall and the police. All will bow before me, or be crushed underfoot. There's just one question for you all to ask yourselves - are you going to help me make my dream a reality, and take your place among the kings of this city, or do I crush you too?"
She hugs him back, having grown fairly comfortable around him. Calista is immediately irate at the news. "What?! They know that a new artist needs to have multiple singles to get any momentum beyond being a one-hit wonder! And they're going to cut the video too?! It's like they're trying to kill my career before it even starts!" She growls in frustration. "Grr, what idiot decided all this?" They're going to get a piece of my mind, one way or another.
Looking at the guards, she sees no indication that they have super powers - from the guns they carry, it seems they're just hired muscle. Vixen narrows her eyes. "That's a shame - no debut means you have no fans willing to pay top dollar for you. Still, I might be willing to give you a chance. You actually have powers, I assume? We get enough cosplayers trying to fake it."
"I don't know who made the call, but I heard it from Vince - from the top." The man says apologetically.
Oh, for fuck's sake! This sounds like exactly what I feared! Dammit! Azura cursed as she kept listening, wondering if she would hear anything more of use.
"Fans, none, unless you count the thugs, and mob bosses I heat up." Vanessa mumbles, "As for powers, I have flight, super speed, strength, and endurance." She replied, "Want me to prove it?" The heiress asked, looking for something to destroy with her fingers, unless Vixen had some other way in mind.
Her expression and tone soften somewhat now that the initial frustration has passed. "Thanks for telling me. Do you know if Vince is here? I need to have words with him about this shit." No matter the answer, Calista will storm off to Vince's office or wherever the producer says Vince is.
"You seriously think I'll betray the boss? I came here out of curiosity, but I'm out." Azura hears a man speak inside the room, followed by a loud bang, and a thug. Notably, Daiyu grits her teeth at the sound. "Anyone else?" The original speaker, presumably Chen, asks. "Actually, count me out as well." A feminine voice is heard from the other side of the door. "Oh, put that gun away. We both know it'll do nothing to me, and you don't have your 'army' yet, just a handful of freaks. You're a peon, Chen, an upjumped peon, and your plan is doomed to fail at the first hurdle. As for your 'miracle product', it's not as secure as you think it is. If you don't want me telling all the fine people here where to find it, you'll not bother me any more." Azura hears footsteps coming her way.
"Actually, that might work in your favor." Vixen says. "A mob boss might be willing to pay quite a bit for a night with the vigilante who beat him up. Of course I want you to prove it." She tosses over a crowbar, which Vanessa quickly bends out of shape. "Hmm... What did you say your name was?"
"Um, excuse me..." A buxom secretary looks up as Calista storms her way to the office. "You'll need an appointm- oh." Calista barges through the doors, seeing the businessman at his desk, a cup of coffee in his hand. "Ah, Calista, was it? How can I help?" He smiles.
Bending the crow bar with ease, Vanessa leans back on her chair. Though she's unamused that all her potential customers will be mob bosses, she figured that should help Octavius find her faster. "My name..." She mumbled, "Don't have one, but those thugs have stuck to calling me Rabid Lady." The heiress shrugged, "Also, I don't want any of them trying to unmask me. If they try, I can't assure that they'll be breathing... or have functioning genitals."
Someone loyal to her who she cared about at least a little. Azura guessed as she noticed Daiyu's reaction to the man's death. Hearing that the woman was seemingly headed for the door Azura's eyes widened and her mind started working in overdrive. Shit! There's no way she'll just ignore the knocked out guards! But even if she does Chen will likely notice that his guards are not where they should be! We need to get out of here now! She looked at Daiyu and gave her a sign that they should run.
Her nostrils flare with pent-up rage, though Calista keeps her tone controlled and her arms crossed in front of her chest. Angry, but controlled. "You can start by telling me why I'm suddenly getting only one single as a debuting artist and why I'm losing the video for the first one! You know that's just asking for me to be written off as a one-hit wonder!"
"That's...not the sexiest name I've ever heard, but so be it." Vixen chuckles. "Don't worry - most prefer it if you keep the mask on. For the minority who would try to take it off, our rules are clearly explained and enforced."
