Are there any details about a story's author that raise Red Flags?

I think it's safe to say that, our usernames on this site can describe the type of person we are. If nobody gets it, Warden-Yarn is an anagram of Andrew Ryan, which means I should be a pretty big fan of the Bioshock series, and I mostly write fan fiction, I think that's a pretty easy one to spot.

With that said, I think there are a lot of kinks, stories, or just people, we'd like to avoid due to something in with their name, their avatar, or just something about them being plain wrong.

    Or maybe I'm very judgemental.

But give me the benefit of the doubt, tell me, dear reader, do you just look at a story's title, think for a second, only to confirm avoidance of said story because of the author? And if so, guessing that you didn't dislike the author beforehand, is there a significant detail that you think says that, you will not enjoy the story?

I for one think that, if your username describes your whole fetish, that's probably the only thing you'll write, and while it's not inherently a bad thing to do such a thing, it just feels wrong to me to center your entire writing career here over one specific kink - which is bordering dogma.

An example probably would be someone named Hamburger Cummer, and I have spotted someone who is like this that is probably long gone so I can talk about them. If his username is anything to go by, I imagine that all of his stories revolve cumming in hamburgers, which is not a kink that I would like to read to be honest.

Does anyone else have certain red flags, or am I just a horrible person to deal with?

I took my name from a curry! It's an old nickname from my younger days and was a spur-of-the-moment thing when I first joined, there was no real thought behind it. I'm not really bothered by the user name, it's their content I'm interested in. that said, something that crosses the line, like Dog Fucker or something, would put me off.

    hmm, not sure.
My name isn't because I have an entirely boob-fetish kink, although I have to confess a fondness.
Its just a name I used for a while on webcam chat sites, - gave me a humorous opening in the chat there. I've since found it easier to keep the same identity on different smut related sites just for the sake of remembering who I am.

However if I saw someone with a name that implied a fetish I am entirely uninterested in (scat for example) I would skip their work completely.

I did wonder about that - and your avatar from Benny Hill which looks like quite a good choice!

I don't look at author's names at all. If I happened to glance at one and noticed really awful stuff, I'd probably hesitate to check out their work, but then I'm into some pretty awful stuff, so who am I to judge? :p

To really answer the question, I had a few chats with users having names that made clear reference to Nazism...
I don't know if that can be considered a kink too.

That made me feel weird, though I still replied...

In general, I'm kind of suspicious of those putting their uncommon fetish in their name because I have the feeling they just advertising themselves and are here more to mingle rather than just read or write.

I’m Dick man because I like to helicopter it before sex and pretend to be a super hero.

Regarding reading habits I do the opposite, in that I find authors that I like then read all of their stuff.

I don't really think about usernames too much unless they're offensive. But you're right, some usernames do broadcast what the person's stories are going to be about.

I chose my name for two reasons. 1) I wanted to use something that was unrelated as possible to the usernames I use in both the vanilla world and the kink world (FetLife, etc.). 2) It made sense for my first story - Blackmail: I Know the Secrets You Keep. I never intended to write anything beyond that story *laughs violently and starts crying*.

It was supposed to be ThoseAreMySecrets (not ThoseAreMySecret) but I hit the character limit. In retrospect "ThisIsMySecret" would look and sound better.

I've been using the username "catfish" or "catfish27" (on any site I don't want connected to my "real-life" identity) since before the term "catfishing" was coined. As my avatar may make clear, it's a reference to this baseball player.

  14. I've been using the name "YveltalWarrior" or some variation of it online since I was like 9 or 10. Back then, for some godforsaken reason, I was obsessed with the Pokémon, I still have about twenty figurines of Yveltal in my closet. Now, I would prefer to go by "Master Y" or some variation of it, but I find it awkward to just change my name. As for my bio, well, the only possible red flag is that I drink too much alcohol while also wasting my life away with ephemeral electronic entertainment. Since I'm essentially a walking, talking red flag, I have few danger signs when it comes to anything. If I like what I see, that's good enough.
