If I had to guess... Since not all countries have the same legal age of consent that rule isn't specific enough and should specify 18 which is seemingly the legal age CHYOA uses.

 

This feels like it. The rules of CHYOA are specific and strict on the age 18.

Keep in mind there are some other rules about age, so if you change the line here but feature writing or depict characters with distinctly under 18 characteristics you may still be in violation.

Legal age for consent and age for buying pornography materials are two things.

18 is in most countries legal age for buying alcohol, cigarettes and erotic material, but for individual sexual intercourse is lower, mainly on the end of elementary school 9.grade.

Its very similarly close on both side of the the atlantic ocean.

 

The site itself still has it's own regulations on age guidelines. I don't think it's so much by country, so much as it's specifically outlined in the site's own rules it has to follow.

It's guidelines for writers, not rules for characters.

For the sake of argument, yes, you could make all of the characters in your story legal age for the reader if no erotic context occurs throughout your story and, while unusual for chyoa, there is no rule saying there must be erotic context as the site defines it in your story. I think most readers/reviewers, however, will reasonably assume item 1 of the OP is included with the intention of pre-qualifying the story's characters for erotic context.

18 is the minimum threshold to get you above that bar everywhere, so that's the rule for the site. Expanding even more, Patreon explicitly bars sexual depictions of minors. If Patreon finds CHYOA in violation, they'll lock their account and cut off a major source of the site's funding.

And expanding even further, between here and Discord, this is at least the 3rd time Yurisenpai has raised the 18+ issue and gotten an explanation. We're well past innocent confusion about the rule.

But this age is only for direct sexual intercourse and buying videos and magazines, other types of public nudity or participating events as nudist or naturist, is legal in any ages.

I found this place where something adjacent to the thing I want to do is legal, and therefore you should allow me to do it here.

 

Their story is in moderation and they were hoping to coerce or convince some of the forumites to unknowingly call out the mods by not fully explaining what's going on. There's plenty of room for discussion on the rules, which has happened in the past. Hell, I've even been on the side of bumping things down to 16 in past discussions...but the lack of full disclosure needles at me a little. There's no reason not to explain the full breadth of the situation.

Ultimately, the difference between 16 and 18 is slight enough that it's an odd hill to die on (Hence why I didn't die on that hill) and the site's rules are pretty clear cut that characters have to be at least 18 to do lewd stuff.

For the first story in this collection, there isn't any mentioning about age, only description of main character.
But i think mods never heards "don't judge a book by its cover".

 

Some general facts
for any types of stories, novels, light novels, comics, newspapers, manga, and doujinshi, these last two are mainly in japan, you need to know the language you use for you writing and proper grammar, or have editor that can check that text after you and smash it over your head for any mitsake or others thing before it can be published.

But when you came here or other erotic websites, only important rules are
1. No Underage Sex (minimum age is 18)
2. No Bestiality - (animal sex?)
3. No Excessive Violence

Other thing that are strictly required in normal books, are here only recommended and violated on daily basis, because you don't need to know how to write when end of every stories in erotic genre end as fucking sex orgy.

Yes, some countries have different rules with ages, but even websites still have tangible places they operate out of and servers and have to follow those rules of those places.

There’s really nothing else to tell you. It’s already been pointed out repeatedly how easily corrected this would be.

 

So how you want corrected problems that are important in normal stories for everyone, but literaly fucked in ass on erotic sites ?
