Hohoho! I knew puppet was a wise choice! Goma seems to have a knack for it as well. (Especially since she already mastered the spell!) Well, we did end up with a couple new fetishes(which I had a sneaking suspicion would happen) but the intel is worth it. So far the potential seems pretty limitless, but we obviously have to test it out in actual combat. Feels ages sice we last visited Alide. I'm tempted to use puppet on her, but that seems to obvious an exploit as to not have repercussions. For our free thing I would request an offensive spell. We certainly struggled a bit with Yulia's low variety of offensive attack spells, so finally getting something else should be beneficial In addition we should ask her if she knows anything about the silver ring or if she wants to exchange it for something more useful Same goes for the demonic dress. oh and I guess we can also offer up the shard of illustone, just to see if we get something for it. We need to know our options, so that's all for now.
Let's trade first, we may get something useful and change what we want. But i agree an offensive spell is probably the best, we need some fire! If we get something good for Cherchiel to wear then we may want to go and get her real gear back. But we have a door here that could be explored first, at least see what it is.
Huh, well that ring sounds way more useful than we thought. No way we trade in something that halves mana use. Yulia needs to wear this. I'm not sure if the stone is worth trading or not. Offensive spell for sure and Yulia should probably learn it. As for direction, i guess we need Cherchiel's stuff back... But right now the Tower Below wants is to become Lust. It may be better to wait on attacking and explore more while we have this "boon". We just need to be careful about what we take next floor.
Uh, interesting! We certainly can't trade that ring, that is way too valuable. I say we give it to Yulia, but we should keep in mind that we can switch it to any other party member, except Cherchiel if needed. Ha, that dress sounds pretty dangerous. It might be worth it to temporarily equip it if we know we are heading into a difficult fight, but right now it better stays in our inventory And finally the Illustone, hm...it's effect is extremly situational, but if we ever run into something like the Old Mind again it would be a life safer, I say we keep it. So yeah, no trades as far as I'm concerned. I'm still for getting an offensive spell for Yulia. We are wasting our free heal, but eh I rather get some more firepower Incidentally, on the subject of the free heal/mana refill, the text is pretty clear but I still want to ask. If we wanted to heal one of Yulia's companions, would that be possible? Once we are done here, I suggest we go back and confront Levatainn to get Cherchiel's equipment back
Shame we can’t trade in the dress, but it could be useful in *extremely dire* situations. I also agree we should hang onto the Illustone, I’d rather hang onto it on the off-chance we need it again. I don’t think I want to go after Levateinn yet though. I’m curious about the Demon of Gifts and would like to know more about them before we make any big moves. Considering Levateinn was scheming against Liloth, maybe we could use them against each other? And it hasn’t come up yet, but there should be a floor monster wandering around. Alide, do you know anything about it?
Newest Post: I swear I rolled and it just turned out like this. Complete coincidence! Also you will of course be given time to use items before the fight... Such as assigning the new spellbook or having Yulia put on the ring, or any other things you want to do before the fight commences properly. Also also... Mommy, sorry, Mommy, sorry, Mommy...
Well, at least we aren't going into this fight blind like we could have. Let's not worry about the spellbook for now, I don't think it's worth using against an opponent with high magical resistance. Goma should stay back and use the horn on everyone, and be ready to cast Puppet on allies in case they get charmed or controlled by Harvester somehow. Yulia should energize everyone, now that we have the divine aura to restore mana, and throw knives from the back line to help cover Isalia and Cherchiel. Our two heavy hitters will charge in with the benefit of their buffs, although I don't know whether to give the boar mask to Cherchiel or Isalia. Since Alide mentioned she's vulnerable to physical attacks, let's just try to beat her down as quickly as possible while remaining on guard for whatever magic she can use against us.
Seems easy to me. I agree with everything Emmie said, but have Yulia get some pokes in with the rapier once buffing is done. Definitely wear the ring before combat starts.
Ha! This will be a bit of an issue. Our main physical damage dealer is heavily nerfed right now and if magic won't work against Harvester we are pretty much crippled. Since we have unlimited prep time we certainly should take advantage of it Yulia learn the spell and put on the ring I was contemplating having her put on the dress, but I don't think it would make much of a difference here. Goma sound the horn Isalia, it's your turn with the boar mask Yulia, I need you to cast energize on everyone, including yourself I'd say it's worth to cast undermine on Harvester, it probably won't work but eh. I believe we have to use some of our items to make it trough this one, so I suggest to have Goma blast Harvester with the Grenade launcher in addition with the knives. Using Puppet on our own allies in case they get mind controlled sounds like a good idea. Isalia will be our weakest link this time, so Goma should put her focus on her. That said, we don't know if we are dealing with offensive spells or more of the delabilitating sort Since we have next to no magic resistance we will probably take major damage here, as such I want Yulia and Goma to also use heals as needed. Yulia can use a mana portion in case mana becomes an issue. After all that, yeah nothing else to do but rush Harvester down in a physical assault
If I had a nickel for every time Yulia's conversations with Alide were interrupted by the arrival of a wandering floor monster, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.
Newest Post: The Fight with Harvester I had a hell of a time writing this post. First I got interrupted in the morning and stopped mid battle calculations to go somewhere, then fell asleep cause I wasn't feeling well after the thing I had to do, so slept for a bit, woke up went back to writing, finished the battle calculation stuff and started writing the post, only to be interrupted again and have to go somewhere else and then I finally get back, finish most of the post, am fixing the inventory/status screen with the new stuff that changed and... hit the back button lose all my progress since that first initial interruption and have to rewrite the battle calculations, the status screen changes and the entirety of the actual post again.
(Sorry for all the trouble Lehe, but the chapter was great and well worth the wait.) Phew, that could've gone poorly without the benefit of throwing literally everything we had at it. I'm glad we knew about her magic resistance, especially since she also had that magic bounce effect. We should keep that ability in mind in future encounters, if we know we're up against high level magic users. Everyone did good work, this was a well-earned win. Miss Alide, could you tell us what these new items do? Depending on their effect, those gauntlets might be well suited to Cherchiel. I'm also a bit curious as to what she actually had planned for the party if she managed to win. Her end goal wasn't as clear as with, say, Sower or Lumberer, and we might deal with similar enemies in the future.
Yeah, I never write things directly in the editor. Too much stuff that can screw you over. Do it in word or something and copy it once it's done. Hah, so far the "If title sounds bad, outcome good" hasn't failed yet. But i'm sure the inevitable curveball will come. That was quite the scary fight. All this and it still basically came down to a 50% chance. Luckily Yulia had a good roll And yeah, I shudder to think what would have happened without that intel from Alide. I wonder if there is a support spell for enemy information or something like that? Would be immensly useful. I would like some confirmation for the silver knives, since from the look of it we only used a single on for a massive -10 damage. I mean, I'm not complaining but against Li we used a whooping seven for the same -10 Also, the text still says we have a grenade for the launcher, I take it that's a mistake? Also Also, this is the first time I noticed but the items say we still have a sack of alchemy ingredients. I don't think that's the case right? I almost feel bad for Harvester, if it wasn't for the vials needed for that super bonus we probably could have come to an arrangement. Might as well ask Alide what these items do and if she offers anything good for them. So looks like another Alide episode.
God damn it! I literally removed the extra grenade on the first iteration... I guess I forgot on the second and... Huh... You know I don't remember when those alchemical ingredients were acquired, but probably not. I'll check and fix that and as for the throwing knives... To a degree I'm kind of winging it... I figured earlier I'd base it on amount used, but I kind of changed my mind and they just give a flat effect similar to normal weapons now, the amount used instead being entirely based on the situation. IE more were used on Li because they were being used mostly to keep Li at bay while descending the stairs, but here only one was needed to score the killing blow. I'll admit it's arguably not very fair since it means I somewhat arbitrarily decide how many of a resource is used... but I'm not entirely sure how to do it otherwise, without getting you guys to literally give an exact number of how many knives you want to use in a fight.
Yeah, I get the issue When it comes to ressources, things are tricky because obvious we want to use exactly as many resources as needed to defeat the enemy and of course it would suck to use a bunch of items and still lose. Since we can only give our input at the start of the fight, it might indeed be best to leave the exact amount of any given item used up to Yulia.
Yeah that was my thought. I think keeping the static 10 to demons and anything else weak to silver is kind of my attempt to balance the potential of losing a lot of them in combat. They will give much less against non-weak to silver enemies... Probably only about 2-3
That balances pretty well imo. Li was much further away and was flying around, so we needed to spend seven knives to get the -10 bonus. But Harvester was much closer, weak to physical attacks, and stuck in close combat with Cherchiel, so we could get the -10 with just one knife.
Great job team! We got lucky running into Harvester while still in Alide's room, let's see what loot we have gained. Afterwards, if we get back to direction choices, I still think it is best to explore the arch demon of gifts section of this floor while we still have the "guest" status.
