What motivates you to write these stories, on CHYOA or elsewhere?

Thinking about writing a few stories and I'm curious what motivates you guys to do so, on CHYOA specifically or on another platform. Just popped into my head so thought I'd ask!

Initially, I was so stressed out from doomscrolling that I figured it would be a way to relieve some stress - and be a creative outlet. Several successful science fiction authors trained themselves to write by churning out pornographic novels. 5700+ chapters later, I think it's just habit.

I have kinky ideas, and if I don't write them down they just keep ricocheting around in my brain.

Couldn't find anything I wanted to read, so I said "Fuck it, I'll write 'em myself."

I become miserable when I don't have some kind of Project to work on in my spare time for a long time. A couple of weeks of holiday here and there is fine, but beyond that I need something to occupy myself. Writing fiction (erotic or otherwise) fills that void.

Also, I just enjoy doing it. :p

In other people's erotica and porn, I have to follow how they've imagined the story unfolding. When I write my own, I get to make the characters do exactly what I want to see. Until my characters become actual living people, they do precisely what I want, when I want it, how I want it, and as often as I want it.

... and someday, if they become actual living people, I just hope they'll act everything out for me at my house. :)

    Ditto.

Most stories of mine, both erotic and non-erotic, came from daydreams that I have throughout the day or when I want to tell myself a story to get to sleep. Afterwards, however, most of my stories have stopped becoming primarily fan-fiction than it has been self-indulging. Though since they're still a form of entertainment, I thought that mayhaps some people would like to put themselves in "my" place and my daydreams.

I also have this problem that because this content is ricocheting around, I cant see past it until I write it down. eg if the contents of chapter 3 are bouncing around, I need to write it before I can find out what happens in chapter 4. I need to find out what happens next!

I find writing very cathartic and de-stressing and I'm interested in erotica, but I chose Chyoa as the place to publish as it is such a user friendly site. And, to date, I've not come across any trolls or serious negativity, considering this is the internet, the authors and readers here are amazingly nice.
When I first posted a story here and people actually read it, my god, the feeling was intoxicating. I'd rush home from work everyday so I could get to my keyboard and write. I still get a great feeling every time I see a like on my stories. I hope you do write a story, there's no feeling quite like it.

When I first started out writing, the motivation was just to do something during the pandemic. I really liked a story on CHYOA and decided to write a branch of my own based on an idea I just had. Since my idea was inspired by a story here, I started writing it here; but now that I've tried other erotica sites, I have to say that CHYOA's incredibly author friendly — quicker approval time for publication, less restrictions on posting links and images, and feedback comes from registered users so you can build a rapport with them.

It's now been a year and a half since I started and the motivation now is just to improve my storytelling and writing. Since I get insightful feedback from my readers, whether positive or negative, I haven't lost motivation to keep writing. It's become a very fulfilling side-hustle now after I opened a Patreon, and that's another source of motivation to have a regular schedule of writing as well.

I mean, this ^ for sure, but it's also a way to customize your kinks or fantasies rather than hoping some random other erotic writer or online porn will do it for you.

I stumbled upon CHYOA after looking for ways to write my own "Choose your path" stories when I got bored and discovered some of the online erotic games that sort of have the same concept (Lesson of Passion, Female Agent, etc.). Literotica was my first dip in the erotica world years ago and I always had a desire to write for that site but over the years I've seen a growing amount of toxicity in the comment section of their stories. No shade meant for Literotica, but when I compared it to CHYOA, I found this group more friendly and accepting. At the very least, readers seem to just move on if a story is not their thing.

Also, since I've yet to create any "Game" style stories, I also like the idea of being able to write a story in pieces and not fret over writing a complete story all at once and then have it flop. Plus, the Likes, Bookmarks, and Favorites are encouragement to keep writing.
