"You're welcome. It's the least I can do." Felicia smiles as they enter, taking note of how packed the theatre already was, she nods at Samir's comment. Once they find their seats, "This must be a good movie if it's popular enough to have filled seats this late into the night." The red-head adds.

(I mean... they're still more advanced than modern times with those duel disks and whatnot.)

 

[I'm pretty sure Mayhem still fires since Dinomischus doesn't negate the summon.]

The smile never leaves Yoko's white mask, despite the loss of her fellow kitsune. "You didn't use this on Dakki, did you? Very clever. Have some more burns for your trouble." The Thing in the Crater proceeds to hurl another chunk of half-melted magma and rock at Julia, followed by Uni-Zombie shuffling towards her, preparing to take a swipe at the woman. "You act as though the undead aren't natural. Ignorance truly is bliss..."

Er, no, no I don't. Helpless? Wait, what? Why? I thought she was like me. Adam thinks to the anthropomorphised card, perhaps having failed to grasp some implications.. Alright, alright, I'll be careful. "Oui, c'est moi." The young man stands as she approaches, tentatively leaning in to kiss her cheeks in the French style, looking to other people in the restaurant like just some friends catching up after a long time, or maybe a nervous first date. "Please, please, sit - anything you want is on me. I wanted to thank you for meeting me, Merneith - though I'm guessing that's not the name you go under." He says as he sits back down. "I, uh, pardon, I'm not 100% sure where to start."

 

Samir checks his watch. "It isn't that late. Only eight thirty." He shrugs. "I'm still used to Luxor, though. We tend to do more at night during the summer in order to stay out of the worst of the heat." The blond boy makes conversation from next to Felicia as pre-film ads are projected onto the screen. "Do you know much about this kind of movie? I haven't seen a Japanese one before."

 

(It doesn't negate the summon, it just banishes a face up card on the field.)
"Of course, you already know of my connection to the nekroz and if I used Valkyrus that would endanger the connection. It's a strength in itself to be able to use a variety of cards than just your favorites."

She still chooses to take the attack from the molten rock monster, groaning in pain at more of her life force being drained, but as the zombie etches closer the ground shakes yet again.


A more insectiod creature rising as it circiled around uni zombie seeming to bury it back into the ground.

"Paleozoic Canadia puts it into face down defense position. What's more-I activate a trap card-

From the same ruptured earth that the insect fossil had emerged the crystallized eye creature had started to use it's tentacles to shamble out into the surface properly."

"When a trap card is activated, the Paleozoic's will return from the graveyard. Of course, that also means when any trap is activated." She smirked a bit, obviously referring to Yoko's continuous trap, making her aware of the risk of using it freely. However as she spoke, the tentacled fossil began to emit an even stronger bluish glow of power.

"The secrets of history are being unearthed. Even in their fossilized state, while Paleozics are fragile, they are beyond the power of monster effects."

 

"That's true. And that sounds rough. Living near the desert sure has its problems, huh?" Felicia replies, thanking the fact that she lived in the city. "This movie? No, sorry, can't say I know much about it. But from the photo, it seems like an animated film. Which is why I was surprised." She said, looking around, wondering how many people brought their kids here.

 

A pale man with orange hair wearing ostentatious, black-and-purple robes appears, standing next to the woman. "I mean it, Adam." He disappears just as suddenly.

Merneith(?) doesn't seem to have noticed the man.

Returning the greeting, she sits across from the young man. "It isn't, but I won't give another name." The woman replies brusquely, contrasting her sweet appearance. "You're the one who wanted to meet, Adam." Merneith glares at him. "How about this: why did we share a dream?"

 

"Fair enough, I suppose." Adam narrows his eyes as he sees the man. "I don't know for sure, but I think we're linked in some way. I knew you - or at least my predecessor in Ancient Egypt knew your yours. I was a priest of Horus, while you were, well, a pharaoh. I know this sounds insane - I thought the same way when some random girl started calling me a 'sorcerer' and herself a 'priestess', but I've seen enough stuff in the past few days to know that there's something to it - not to mention us communicating telepathically." He softens his voice and applies his charm, not trying to seduce or manipulate just yet, more just trying to get her to think positively of him. "I know it's a lot to ask to trust the word of a complete stranger, but I'm just trying to figure out what the hell is going, to make sure I don't get on the wrong end of something I don't understand. Me, and more importantly, the people I care about."

 

"Yes, flexibility is always desirable..." Yoko remarks, giggling, as Julia's LP falls to 6000.

"A ghost will reveal far more about history than a fossil ever could." The kistune smirks. "We can talk." She sets a card face down, ending her turn.

"Yet another fossil inside of the depths." She openly announced what she was setting to Yoko. It was part of playing mind games with the fox. Kitsune were tricksters by nature...which led to them being the best people to overthink it. There's no way Julia would say that unless she didn't actually play a fossil or had a plan to counter an attempt to get rid of it.

She had Canadia set up in the graveyard and two of the fossil creatures waiting to be used. Yoko would need strong trap removal...but then sending them to the graveyard would only make it an issue.

Still Julia placed one of the other cards, she held.


"I play this regular trap card."

Julia directly announced it so casually, in a way that Yoko knew the professor was intentionally trying to play mind games with her.

"Dinomischius, destroy the lava beast!" The prehistoric creature lurched it's infinitely tentacles out down into the crater ignoring the hate until it heard the cries of the beast inside.

Julia intentionally destroyed it despite knowing it's effect. Either she was taking a gamble that Yoko, didn't have any pyro monsters in hand with only two cards or....she was planning something to strike it intentionally.

 

"It isn't that bad once you get used to it. I was tempted to start wearing a coat after Monday. It feels so cold up here." Samir chuckles. "I think it said 'G' on the poster, but I'm not sure what that actually means." There aren't that many children in the audience, likely due to it being a Thursday night. There's plenty of teens and adults here without kids along, demonstrating that the movie isn't necessarily just for younger attendees. Trailers begin to roll, advertising a slew of upcoming movies before the one the couple came to see actually begins.

 

"I see. I guess moving to a different country will do that." Felicia hums, "I think 'G' means general audience?" She replied, unsure since she's never bothered to watched too much movies. "Still, I don't see any kids, so this must be interesting enough to catch the attention of adults." She comments as she saw who else was with them in the theatre. But as the movie began to roll, she keeps quiet, slowly munching on her popcorn as they watched.

"Hold on. You've already met someone else who has done this?" The woman asks, suspicious. She raises a hand to her forehead, as if attempting to ward off a headache.

She doesn't have a headache, but Adam has no clue what other reason she would have to make the gesture. Maybe frustration?

 

"And we can lie." Yoko's mask grins. "Finally, some fun!" She cackles before one of the fossil creature's tentacles takes the opportunity to slap her arm, lowering her LP to 7800. The Thing dies, falling into the magma pooling in the crater, but another monster rises from sea of red. "I summon Fox Fire in Defense Position."

Spoiler: Fox Fire

An adorable red fox bearing a small, candle-like flame climbs from the crater, escaping before the hole in the earth is filled with solid igneous rock. "The flame spreads and spreads..."

 

"As in someone who has dreams of Ancient Egypt? Yeah." Adam nods. "She seems to know more than I do, but I'm still not sure I can trust her - I suppose I can empathise with you, in fact."

 

The Crater monster was a bit of a higher level, so even with uni zombie on the field, she might be harder pressed to complete a strong synchro without being forced to discard another card with her hand waning. Of course, she still risk being able to get a sycnrho out, but she didn't have enough set up to punish too severely even through defenses. But more importantly...looking at the field, she knew she'd have to get zombie world off the field first. If she could just hold out for a couple more turns, she might be able to do it...

Mentally, she began to internally try to focus, on contacting Valkyrus or Unicore. Even in Yoko's world, they were still closer to the spirit realm. While they agreed for no outside interference for the outcome of the duel, she still tried to reach them mentally.

I don't know if you're already aware, but I'm dueling Yoko earlier than expected. I'm in a position to win here. But the question is how to create wording after I beat her that she can't find a loophole in.

[It's been...ten years since I've seen Spirited Away, so I'm not going to try retelling it.]

"You're probably right." As the movie proper begins, Felicia can already safely call it the most beautiful and vibrant piece of animated media she's ever seen. "It looks amazing." Samir whispers, keeping quiet to avoid disturbing anyone else. The protagonist, a schoolgirl thrust into this new, incredible world of spirits and demons, easily wins the redhead's sympathy.

Adam sees the metal eye on Merneith's forehead glow with brilliant, golden light for a fraction of a second. The world goes black.

Adam stirs. He feels the bumpy motions of a car, realizing he must be sitting within one. His hands are cuffed behind his back, and his legs are also bound together. The Frenchman's head seems to be inside a black bag. The fabric scratches his face.

 

(Yeah, no need to go that far, I mean, we could have skipped to the end of the movie once they sat down.)

As the credits roll, Felicia hums, "Wow, that was great." She said in an elated tone, "You really can't expect what can come out of animated films." The red-head adds, still smiling as they stand up. "Mmh, I guess we should head back to the dorm now, it's getting a bit late." Felicia looks at the time, recalling how they still had classes tomorrow.

 

Before he blacks out, Adam hears a voice from the deepest recesses of his mind, calling him an idiot.

Adam focuses, trying to get his bearings. He doesn't move at first, letting the subtle bumps travelling up the upholstery slide him to and fro as though he were still unconscious. Feigning sleep, he tries to determine if he's in the front or back, and if someone's sitting next to him.
