Domino City Duel Academy

Cell 1 looks identical to Adam's own cell, excepting the occupant. A brown-skinned young man with long, white hair sits on his cot, staring down at the tile floor. He wears a black t-shirt and shorts with gold-colored trim.

Damn, I was hoping to find someone who could fight, not this...pipsqueak. Still, Adam slides the keycard in front of the door to open it. "Hey, get up. We're doing a jail break." Not waiting for his answer, he heads to Cell 3.

 

"Do you truly think I'm so eager to leave you? You know me better than that, Julia." Yoko teases the professor as she saunters next to Destiny. "You and your friends are more ruthless than I expected." Hovering her hand above the unconscious girl's head, the mage begins her work.

Felicia: 39+10(Double Spirits)-20(Trickster)=29 fail

Felicia is unable to recognize Yoko's spell, but Julia knows it as an advanced tracing spell meant to guide the user to the source of another active work of magic.
Dinah, for her part, backs up against the far wall and remains quiet. Michio half-watches the proceedings, paying more attention to the hallway than the magic.

 

Felicia remains silent as she takes a few steps back since she's still an amateur when it came to magic.

 

“No, I was just wondering if you wanted a spanking.” Julia didn’t hesitate to responding to Yoko’s flirtations even if she knew she was probably aiming to manipulate her.


As Yoko did her magic, Julia remained quiet but offered simple commentary partly as reassurances to the group and her general need to talk. “She’s tracing magic sources currently. Reasonable enough..”

 

"Thank you." The other prisoner follows Adam. "So you are the new one..." He says as they find Cell 3 empty. The doors labeled Warden and Evidence remain unexplored.

 

"Merde..." Adam sighs, before moving to the evidence room and opening the door.

 

A minute passes. "Found the origin." Yoko announces. "The caster is under the earth. West. I can guide us there." She ends the tracing spell, still speaking to the room. "I can end the sleeping hex, but it will alert the caster to my presence. We are better off leaving her as she is." The mage gives the others a chance to voice their opinions, nevertheless.
"I don't like leaving her vulnerable." Michio pipes up from the doorway. "If we can't take her, then someone's staying here to guard her." She glances at Dinah. "Someone other than her. Got any more friends, Julia?"

 

"Under the earth?" Felicia repeats, "Like... in hell?" She mumbles, unsure how to interpret what she just heard. After all, spirits are real, who knows if hell is just another form of the shadow realm. Then as Yoko gives their choices, "She isn't in any danger while under the sleeping spell, right?" The red-head asks, thinking that if the caster was alerted, they might do something drastic to Adam. "For now, I guess we can leave her sleeping."

 

Julia thought about it. Who did she know for this situation. Yumi seemed too preoccupied for now, and Sayne(It's been so long I have trouble with names.) probably was inexperienced in fighting if it in situations like this if it came down to it.

"Angelica? She's the only person who really comes to mind with at least some proper experience with this." Angelica's bond was pretty newly forged, but would be growing steadily. The probability of her being at risk was low, but she probably had better odds than anyone else she could think of.

Using another key collected from the good Lieutenant, Adam is able to find and collect his things, including his deck, phone, and anything else he was carrying when he went out. The other prisoner takes a few items from another box, as well as a bronze staff.

"Merde, I was hoping they'd have a gun here." Adam mumbles to himself as he retrieves his belongings. Fishing out Quintet Magician, he gives the card a grin. Miss me? Looking back at the other prisoner, he looks at the staff in surprise. "I don't suppose...forgive me if this sounds stupid...that you can do magic with that? I'm Adam, by the way - in case we don't have an opportunity to talk later." He holds out a hand.

 

[The name is Sayen. You were close!]

"Hell!" Yoko laughs, a barking, gleeful one. "No, she's in this world." Turning serious again, she addresses Felicia's concern. "It's safer for her to sleep than for us to wake her."
"No. I don't trust her." Michio shoots down Julia's suggestion. "Fuck it! I'll stay. I'll hate it, but I'll stay. We don't have time to sit on our asses and wait for help." She clenches her fists. "Fuck up the asshole for me."

 

"There wasn't much she could do if Michio wasn't approving of it. At least Michio was pretty physical capable and if Julia's theory was right would be rather difficult to influence by magic. All in all, she still didn't expect them to come back here anytime soon where there would be much to worry about.

"Was already planning too. I can't let anyone hurt a hear on Adam's pretty little head." It was hard to tell how serious she was being about it, but Julia definitely already had that on the todo list.

 

"Yes." The other man replies simply. "Seth." He shakes Adam's hand with a surprisingly strong grip for his size. "Is your Item not here?"

 

"Item? Like... Like Merneith's Eye?" Adam raises an eyebrow.

 

"But underground, what are they in some sort of nuclear shelter?" Felicia mumbles, nodding as Michio volunteers to stay behind, "Don't worry, I'll handle em." She grins, looking at professor Meri, and Yoko, "Alright, so how are we going to where they are?" She asked, eager to get things started.

 

“A bunker of some kind?” She couldn’t think of any place like that that she knew of. “It’s going to obviously be secure and we’re not sure what we’re dealing with.”

Julia thought of it for a moment. “I know he planned on speaking to a woman who supposedly is some reincarnation of an Egyptian Pharaoh. All things considered, not the most difficult thing to swallow. But..” she glanced to the sleeping girl. “If we want to make an assumption that it’s the same caster…she invoked some kind of ancient Egyptian magic of some kind?”

Julia was mostly just making conjecture but thought of it. “If we are going by the rules of Egyptian magic, often a common ritual is to destroy images and text to erase a deity or a person’s existence. Supposedly if you’re being haunted, you just find their name in a tomb and scratch that out to deny their connection to the world…”

It seemed flimsy, but instinctively looking at one of her cards between her fingers, she thought on it a little. “There might be something to that. Destroying a card someone’s spiritually bonded with seems to cause at least some damage to their connection. If such a reincarnation exists capable of invoking power, many religions and cultures widely seem to adhere to the rule something must be serving as its link and thread to interact with the world. What that is though….”

She tried to put it together but couldn’t quite think of it. “But it would make a strange amount of sense. The Egyptian religion believes in “Ka.” Essentially the idea of a designated personal spirit to a person and one that can survive even the death of the person’s physical form in the state of an image or idol. Almost like…”

She eyed Valkryus’s card that she still held. “I’m just guessing. But it worked against the Makayashi, so it’s not necessarily impossible to believe it could work here, assuming we know what we're looking for."

She wasn't too sure how it all fit together yet, but shook her head.

"In any case, Egyptian portrayals of magic tends to be more as an invisible force, typically inflicting the mind and soul. I'm not quite sure of a plan here, but I think we have some idea of what they can do here. Before we leave, I better get my best deck out of my room. The nekroz one that I'm not allowed to use normally. If it's anything like dealing with the last situation similar, we'll need our best stuff. I can share a bit while we have some time of my confiscated ones, but not much time to fine tune." Julia wasn't going to take chances here. "But we should move quickly, Yoko knows the way."

 

"It will be a long walk but still within the city." Yoko looks to Julia. "Do you have transportation faster than your feet?" Notably, the mage doesn't comment on the professor's speculation, despite likely having more familiarity with various systems of magic than Julia would.

 

"Yes." Seth gives him a quizzical look.

He holds the Millennium Rod. Capable of overpowering minds and turning them to the wielder's purposes. Like the Eye, it is intimately tied to the Shadow Games and incredibly potent in the right hands. Those with a Millennium Item are immune to the effects of other Items. If you can convince him that you hold one, he may not attempt to take your mind. I suggest the Key. It is easiest to conceal.
