"Yes, mistress." Dinah nods. "You never know..." Yoko half-jokes as the quartet circumvent the garage. "...I could probably convince one to duel if I want." They continue into the base, moving a bit faster to outpace their potential pursuers. The next few rooms they pass are fairly uninteresting. A janitor's supply room here. A dry goods storage room there. But, soon enough, the rescue party are confronted with a small, dingy security office. Spoiler: Security Office Despite the shabby furnishings, the lone guard stationed here is attentive and alert, probably due to the fight near the entrance. She has a sidearm on her hip and an unobstructed view of the hallway. Spoiler: Office Guard
As they reach the security office, Felicia ponders, “Now should be a great chance for you to use your teleport magic.” She looks to Dinah, “She’s attentive, but that’s exactly why you can catch her by surprise if you pop up behind her.”
"Mmh." The veteran uses the remains of the bedsheet to tie up the younger soldier, Graham. Once finished, he returns to the ground as Adam instructs. The pistol whip knocks him unconscious with a thwack and a grunt. Seth nods curtly, kneeling to dig through the veteran's locker near the bunk's entrance. A couple seconds later, he pulls an assault rifle and a trio of full magazines from the container. "I have not used these before." He announces impassively. Spoiler: Perception Roll 9 = 9 strong fail His eardrums still recovering from the gunshot, Adam can't tell if the older soldier's prediction of imminent reinforcements is true.
@Arachna "Yes, mistress. Shall I simply scare her, or do you want her made still?" Dinah clasps her hands in front of her, preparing to cast. "If you want to save the effort, Julia has a...firearm?" Yoko hesitates with the word.
"It's mostly a bluff. Not one I'm trained to use, and the noise would definitely alert the others. It's best to deal with them quietly."
"Try and knock her out for now." Felicia said, waiting for Dinah to jump so they can move on. She keeps her ears open, just to gauge how far away the other soldiers were.
With a short incantation, Dinah vanishes, reappearing behind the guard. The former cultist pulls back her arm to knock the other woman out with a blow to the head, but the purple-haired guard hears the rustling fabric, spinning her office chair around. The guard, now face-to-face with Dinah, throws a left jab at the servant's stomach, connecting, while her right hand reaches across her body for the gun holstered at her hip. This could end badly without someone helping. [Dinah got a rough roll, and the guard's pretty good at this.]
Julia does her best to keep away from getting close. She could always recover people later if she had time to build back more of her energy, but she wasn't really built for fistfights. Felicia was supposed to be capable with these things, and she'd have a better chance intercepting than she would.
As Dinah's surprise attack failed, Felicia rushes in, sprinting as fast as she can. She hopes to catch the guard in a sleeper hold, with her left arm. While her right hand goes to stop the guard from drawing her gun. She hopes she's bought enough time for Dinah to recover by then... or get lucky and choke out the guard.
Spoiler: Combat Roll Felicia 52+10(Hand-to-Hand)+10(Dinah)+10(Surprise)= 82 good Guard 66+20(Boxer)-10(Outnumbered)= 76 good Felicia slightly favored. Charging into the small office, Felicia reaches over the desk to wrap her arm around the guard's neck, but the distance prevents her from getting a solid hold in. The student's reach proves sufficient to pin the purple-haired fighter's right wrist behind her back in a sort of hammerlock and away from her firearm. The woman is able to wrench the student's arm off her neck, but Dinah manages to capitalize on the opening with a couple punches to the security girl's midsection. The guard grunts at the blows. Perhaps most importantly, the redhead's hold on the woman's wrist prevents her from drawing her gun. The guard uses her left arm to block a third strike from the ex-cultist aimed for her head. Her right arm still held by Felicia, she shows no signs of surrender.
The guard's seemed well trained combat wise despite their apparent lack of strong organization. Most likely, they had seen in action in third world countries against villages, but she doubted that most of this group had ever really dealt with conflicts against professionally trained soldiers. Though her side was far from anything like that, they still had some advantages. Julia wanted to speculate a bit, but the pressing matter of the situation told her she likely had to make some kind of move. She wasn't too sure what the hell she was doing, but she, just a little cautiously in case this ended as badly as she thought it was going to go, set the gun's safety on, but Julia didn't plan on firing it. She'd have to try taking a blind spot and while she had no real training, simply bashing the butt of the weapon against someone's head was likely to do serious damage even if she was no professional fighter.
Thankfully having the upper hand, Felicia knew her combat training would be no match against a trained soldier. So she wasn't exactly looking to play fair, letting Dinah attack, the red-head instead attempts to pin, or at least constrict both of the soldiers hand. Waiting for a chance until the guard focuses on defense, Felicia then attempts to draw their opponent's gun, and presses the barrel against her back. "Don't move." She said in a stern tone, deactivating the safety, and cocking the hammer like she saw in movies. However, once the guard does stop resisting, Felicia pistol whips her on the back of the head, hoping to knock her unconscious...
"Let's hope you're a fast learner. Here, let's trade - it'll be hard to carry your staff with a rifle." He hands over the pistol and reaches for the assault rifle, shouting just a little due to his partial deafness.
Spoiler: Combat Roll Felicia 49+10(Hand-to-Hand)+10(Dinah)+10(Julia)= 79 good Guard 67+20(Boxer)-10(Outnumbered)= 77 good Felicia favored. Julia struggles to find an opening with Felicia, Dinah, and the desk in the way, but the mere threat of the firearm attracts the guard's attention. Allowing another jab from Dinah to land on her abdomen, the violet-eyed woman shoots her hand up to catch Julia's arm, giving Felicia the opening she was waiting for. Working the guard's pistol out of it's holster, the fiery student tries her gambit. Spoiler: Intimidation Roll 74+10(Tyrant's Gaze)+10(winning combat)= 94 strong success The soldier freezes as Felicia presses the plastic polymer and cold metal into her spine. Julia and the redhead try their pistol whips at the same time. The paired blows to the front and back of the cranium are more than enough to make the guard crumple to the floor. Dinah, still unsteady from the brief fistfight, backs up to lean against the far corner of the office. Yoko saunters in behind Julia, keeping watch on the hallway.
"Haah. That was... messy." Felicia sighed, activating the safety on the pistol in her hand once more. "We should tie her up too." She said, looking at the unconscious guards belt to see if she carried any restraints. If she had a radio on her, Felicia takes that too, just so they can have an idea where their enemies might be coming from... or going to.
Seth swaps firearms with the student. Even now, exhausted to the verge of collapse, the darker skinned man tightly grips the Rod. He opens his mouth to say something, but an angry shout comes from the walkway outside the makeshift bunk. "That you, Graham? Get the hell out here!"
"Stay there." Adam whispers to Seth and then shouts in mock pain, before tip toe-ing over to the doorway, taking cover beside it. Using Seth as a distraction, he intends to put his gun up against the next man's head, like he did with the last two.
Julia was a little surprised to see the woman breathing, but somewhat relieved, as much as she could be under the circumstances. She hadn't totally expected this to go as well as it did, but there wasn't time to relax just yet. "We won't stay this lucky for long if we get caught fighting all of them. I can't imagine this being an especially large group, but I'd rather not want to test what their numbers are. Restrain her then we better keep moving."
[Sorry for the delay. Dogs are being especially needy today.] Felicia spots a pair of handcuffs on the belt at the guard's waist. She also finds a clear earpiece in the violet-eyed soldier's ear. The thin, white cord connected to it is tucked behind the woman's ear and runs down the back of her blouse. Dinah pants in the corner, still catching her breath. Yoko continues her vigil of the corridor.
