Thank you for keeping this site afloat Friedman, however you do it. The only thing I'd be concerned about with the 'community approach' is: That sort of thing can be a burden to the community, which can stagnate growth. I know other sites are able to stay afloat off of ads when they reach a large enough rotating population of users that somehow actually utilize the advertisers, that the advertisers actually pay out. This site is so slick and well run that I'd like to see it reach that point... not stagnate. Definitely not that. Well that is one concern. The other is that I make shit paychecks so I'd dislike pony-ing up my share (I'd still have some to spare for donation as this site has become important to me).
Hi, I don't know if this is a bug: when I like a chapter, the like counter goes up and stays up, but when I unlike a chapter, the counter goes up and then gets back to the previous number. Is there a reason?
The "unlike" function has been disabled. You can provide criticism as comment or pm to give the author a clue, why you dislike that chapter
A user with a slash ("/") in his name liked one of my chapters. When i clicked on his name, to check if he has published any stories himself, i only got an error page. Obviously, because of the slash in his name. So just to make sure i'm not reporting an old long fixed issue, i proceeded to create a test account: "d/herz ", and it is still possible to create a user name with a / character. I can only assume that this can not possibly be intended to be allowed ;-) The obvious fix would be to disallow the slash and other similar characters in the user names at the registration page.
WHen I type on the forum or in message a strange thing happens. AT each start of line the second letter is capitalized. THe autocorrect of my phone also doesn't take the first letter into account and proposes corrections as if it isn't part of the word. CUrrently I'm using the SwiftKey app as autocorrect on an Android phone and using Firefox. IT only does it on Chyoa and doesn't happen in chapters (thankfully). THe faulty letters of this post have been left uncorrected on purpose to show what happens. NOthing serious but still somewhat irritating.
That would drive me crazy, but thankfully my Android phone using chrome browser doesn't seem to have the problem...
Was working on a new story on my RicoLouis2 and went to add a linked page back to the introduction but when I start typing Introduction doesn't appear. Its nothing drastic that i can't work around but wanted to share encase the problem is on more then just mine.
When I use the Collapse All button on a Story Map, if there are more than four threads, they get truncated. How to reproduce the bug: Go to Slut World. Notice that there are 6 threads off the Introduction page, one of them Not Published. Click on View Story Map. Click on Collapse All at top. Click on + next to Introduction. Notice that there are only 4 threads listed.
I suspect that with Slut World, that is due to the Story Map being scroll-loaded 1000 chapters at a time. Since Slut World is really big, the threads that did not load are not visible because if you did not actually scroll to the bottom, the page did not know to load the rest of the threads (including the 5th or 6th chapter from Slut World's introduction). The incremental loading is a little tedious for me since my working chapters are much closer to the end of the Story Map than the beginning, and I have to scroll, load, scroll, load before I can search in page for my chapters. -Z.
Last few days I log into the forums and go to a thread ready to post and it tells me to login. Even though my name is on top and I am able to type it want's me to login once more.
Git it again today. I wonder if I make a long passphrase instead if this would cause issues? I know this isn't the type of site that really needs it, but a two password authentication would be nice.
