A Couple of Rules Questions

I'm trying to stay within the rules, but a couple of things are unclear. This is for a possible dark fantasy story I've been thinking about in the back of my mind, so there are potential conflicts with the bestiality rules.

In the section on non-human creatures in sexual situations, it says the following:

"(It is not allowed) where a non-human creature has direct or indirect physical contact with another human or non-human creature which aims at the arousal of either of them"

So for example, a character might be having sex with a drow, and the drow's chamber might be filled with spiders, even crawling all over the drow and the main character.

I assume this is not allowed? While the spiders themselves are not being fucked, the point of including them in that scene would be to add to the general ick factor in a "sexy" way, so I would err on the side of caution and not include them in the scene.

Secondly, another section of the rules against bestiality simply say:

"Plants, robots, animated objects, and human zombies aren't considered creatures"

What does this mean? If it's not a creature, does that mean it can be sexualized? A sex doll would be considered an inanimate object or a robot, depending on it's sophistication.

Mostly this is relevant to me when it comes to undead. Say I have an undead that passes the Harkness test (intelligent, speaks, was an adult before it died): would that be fine, or would it be considered necrophilia? Is necrophilia even disallowed?

obligatory not in a position of power in any way shape or form so take what I say with grain of salt on the rules

IMO keep the spiders solely to non-erotic aims. I would say you can use them to create an atmosphere of fear but don't use them to create an erotic factor. Adding to the ick factor is fine but avoid adding to it in a sexy way is my advice.

    Insight on rule two:

If the thing in question possesses the ability to, or capacity for, thought, even if said thought is bestial, then it must pass the Harkness test.
Does the robot possess substantial artificial intelligence (at or above the level of generative AI)? Then I would consider it subject to Harkness test: unless it has clear human or greater intelligence, can communicate its will, and is of a level of understanding of sexual situations to be able to give informed consent, then it would not pass the Harkness test.
Animated objects classically are fine, but what if they have intelligence? Then they're once more subject to the Harkness test
Do the plants possess intelligence level on the level that Communicate with Plants would provide? See above
Human zombies aren't considered in violation of rule 2 because they're, well, human. Rule 3 still applies.

So if Direwolves are in a chapter, can I have a naked woman watching them fight as long as I don't make the Direwolves erotic?

  4. OccasionalReader

My opinion is that it depends on why the woman is naked, and why she's watching them fight

She's the Luna Direwolf who can assume form. The Luna's purpose is to breed with the Alpha so he just keeps her naked. She's just watching one of her sons in Direwolf form beat up three of her other kids as punishment for failing their father.

Based on that description, said individuals may fall into Harkness test territory; didn't realize we were in werewolf territory - apologies, I'm mostly familiar with this dire wolf.

Do the wolves in question have human intelligence (or greater)?
Do the wolves in question have the ability to communicate in such a way so as to understand, and be understood by, all individuals in question?
Are the wolves in question have adult levels of maturity?

If question 3 is "no" but questions 1 and 2 are "yes" then you need to ask yourself instead if the content breaks site rule 1.

A lot of people claim that 18 is arbitrary but I'm actually of the opinion that 18 is NOT arbitrary. Legally, yes, it's arbitrary, but there's an important developmental threshold that is reached at 18 in humans.

To elaborate the above, there are five levels of maturity in an individual:
    • physical maturity (occurs in humans at roughly age 15, which is why this was the historic standard for adulthood)
    • emotional maturity (occurs in humans at roughly age 15) - this means that the individual in question has adult levels of emotion and empathy
    • mental maturity (occurs in humans at roughly age 18) - this means that the individual in question has full adult logical capacity
    • physiological maturity (occurs in humans at roughly age 20) - this means that the individual in question has an adult metabolic and hormonal system, and can process drugs in a fully adult way (which makes 21 as the drinking age stupid, it should be 20 if we go by maturity, or 18 if all we're worried about is preventing the arrestment of mental development)
    • psychological maturity (occurs in humans at roughly age 24) - this is most noticeable in one's judgement ability, and is marked by the full and complete development of the prefrontal cortex
To look at an example from how I rule ttrpgs, we'll look at what I've written on elves:

The answer to all three questions is yes.

My Direwolves are more like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. They are born as wolves and gain the ability to assume a human form when they reach a high enough level, making them technically the reverse of a werewolf.

In that case they do not violate site rule 2 in any way shape or form, no matter how you use them (as long as such is still consistent with your previous answers). Rules as written you can even have them fuck, as the Harkness Test (which is the standard for rule 2 on non-human creatures) places no restrictions on number of any certain number of limbs: quadrupeds are not automatically out rules as written.

The reason I keep specifying rules as written is that I, personally, would get turned off at such, even though i'm a bit of a furry. I need that anthropomorphism lmao. There is an exception that's my hear me out though. Hear me out: Cthulu

Wow, I never even intended to have them have sex outside their human forms because I thought that would turn too many people off.

It likely would turn too many people off, myself included.

Then again, so many people fucked Halsin in his bear form in BG3

However, rules as written, you technically can

Do the same rules apply to violence. Like if a character is killed while another character is naked and watching?

  12. OccasionalReader

    OccasionalReader Experienced

Eh, I personally would avoid it. That's way too close to snuff for my taste.

The naked character, the Luna Direwolf, actually isn't focused on much in the scene. It's just a way to show the Alpha Direwolf is bad.

I mean at this point my interpretation isn't enough and we need an actual mod or admin to give their interpretation on rule 3 lmao; I'm uncertain on rule 3 myself

I've just checked the rules. I think I'm be in the clear.
    • Delta isn't killed during a sexual situation.
    • Delta doesn't die while being the object of sexual desire.
    • Nobody's genitals get cut.
    • The death is just a non-gory neck snap.
    • The death scene shows that Alpha is a monster for mercilessly killing his own son like that so it's not glorified.
    • The character is supposed to be killed off so I didn't use anymore violence then necessary to tell the story.

Depending on how it is written, this situation might qualify as being arousing to the mentioned characters.

    Basically, yes.
There are restrictions to that if the robot/object has human features (so it still has to meet the requirements in Rule 1,) or if the robot is indistinguishable from an animal.

    That's fine.

It is fine as long as they either pass all or none of the criteria of the Harkness test.

    That's not really the requirement.
It is more about the ability to be able to use a structured language to form thoughts and ideas.
It is not necessary that it can be heard or understood by other characters.
(Though it needs to be shown in the writing. Just stating it doesn't work.)

    That's fine.

I feel like these examples aren't really helpful as they seem to divide cases into two categories with both being generally fine.
And those that wouldn't be fine in one category wouldn't be in the other category as well.

Because it seems like this could be a potential general thread that remains here, (With it being pinned)
I have a bit of a question about the rules myself

It's with number one (hold your fire before you flay me alive .)

Underage content is prohibited on CHYOA.

It is not allowed to write about underage characters in an erotic context.

    • A character is considered to be an underage character if at least one of the following points is true at any moment of the scene:
      • the character is younger than 18
      • the character is physically described as underage (e.g. a body height which is very unusual for an 18-year-old)
      • the character is mentally described as underage (e.g. childish naivety)
      • there are references implying that the character is underage (e.g. the character is described as a High School junior)
    • EErotic context: Erotic situations include but are not limited to any situation
      • where a character is naked or partly naked (females: less than a bikini; males: less than swimming briefs)
      • where a character is aroused
      • where a character masturbates
      • where a character has sex with another character
      • which is written in a way that is meant to arouse the reader
    • If a character describes events that happened when they were younger than 18, it is not allowed to depict events in an erotic context. (It is still allowed to offer information about the character in a reporting, non-arousing manner.)
    • FanFictions which canonically feature underage characters must include the note "All characters in this story are at least 18 years old." at the beginning or end of the Introduction chapter or in the Synopsis. (Non-English stories must include a synonymous note in the language of the story.)
      • Transformations for the sake of transformation are not allowed if the transformed character would be considered to be an underage character before, during, or after the transformation.
      • Robots with humanoid features must meet the requirements of underage characters
    • It is not allowed to use images which depict an underage character in an erotic context.
    • It is not allowed to use images which depict an underage person in a context that could be embarrassing for the depicted person, whether alone or in the context of the story
Images include cover images and embedded/hotlinked images, whether they are photographed, drawn, painted, or computer-generated.
Persons in images are considered underage when they were younger than 18 at the time of taking the picture
Figures in images are considered underage when they look too young to be 18 years old
Okay first, I want to say I do healthily and full-heartedly respect a lot of the rules. This one especially.
    That being said,
    With the statement

"It is not allowed to write about underage characters in an erotic context."

    I Have to ask?
    What if it's in a non-erotic context?
What if a writer wants to try a challenge? Use the setting of a story that implies (In my case written ownership) And try to tell a non-erotic story. Don't write sex. Don't write erotic situations, But use the idea that started this. However, fetishistic It may sound And play it completely and wholeheartedly unsexual.

Like the story I'm trying to tell is a simple teen, (Percy) just trying to save their best friend( annabeth's )who they have a crush on..(But won't admit it to himself)
Along with that, he drags along his best friends adopted older sister. (Thalia) To help him because he needs it. She could find her own little brother.

At most I would like our hero to get a kiss on the cheek. (Maybe lips) but nothing else. That's not that sexual. Heck, I wanted to come across more as lovey-dovey stupid dorks.

I honest to God thought it was stupid seeing the potential that written ownership isn't used to its full potential in the least sexual manner.Because everybody already wrote about the sexual matter.

    (Read the above)
Soo If I write My storyline in such a matter And actively point out to others not to which A story of their own onto mind to avoid any violations of the rules. (I wanted to write with artificial restrictions and I don't want others caught in the crossfire)

Would the website be willing to host it.

Because let me be clear, I don't want to write about underage characters in sexual situations. But if they are a non-sexual situations(With Canon typical violence) I see that personally as no harm or foul

Am I wrong on my interpretation of the rules?

(Also, quite frankly, I like the messaging system here. Then chyoa proper.)

You quoted the relevant rule not once, but twice, so why you're still confused? Yes, you're allowed to write about underage characters in non-erotic contexts.

That said, if you're planning to write a whole storyline featuring underage characters in a non-erotic context... why are you on CHYOA in the first place? This is an erotic story site. Are there not more appropriate places to publish this story?

  19. Panty smasher

Yes, this is an erotic story site... But what is its title? And what is the main mechanics?
    CHYOA

    Choose Your Own Adventure.
And the ability to not just make a storyline but allow others to expand it.

That's it. I want to use the choose Your own adventure aspect.

Let me ask you, How many other websites that are large and populated with people has the ability to host individual choose your own adventure books that include fanfiction,(And all the legal trouble with that)

I'll tell you, other than this one practically none.

You're right, I could probably post it somewhere else, But then I wouldn't be able to play on the choose your own adventure aspect.

And here's the thing, I already set up a very important Chekhov's gun in my story,

Thalia Grace, Daughter of Zeus is interested in saving Annabeth, But she also has a brother that is missing and she wants and hopes that she could find him one day. If he ain't dead then she'll stop at nothing to actually see him once more. That brother is named Jason Grace

During a exposition segment I have Percy discover, That camp Jupiter 's, main prophecy child a, boy named Jason, Who is son of Jupiter.

He knows, That Jupiter and Zeus are more equivalent to each other in the Roman and Greek pantheon.

He doesn't know that Thalia has a full brother. He doesn't know Jason's last name is Grace.

I'm at a Cross fork now, should I move forward and act like that was a simple incident?, Or should I have Percy? Remember it While he is talking and think, Wait, there's a Roman kid who's son Of Jupiter named Jason. Jupiter and Zeus are equivalent.

Oh Gods, I might know where her brother is.

Now another cross fork, should he tell one of the most greatest secrets in the Percy Jackson universe Which on the individual level might allow a elder sister to reunite with her little brother, But has the possibility of starting an interpantheon War.

But if he tells her, That might give her hope and be more willing to go along with his plan .

This is where a choose Your Own adventure
Is very important. This is what I like about the website. The potential for this sort of checkoff's gun then later having the chance to fire it Or not fire it and see how the universe differs!

    -------
Also, I initially started this because the original pitch for the story was going on A "" All these characters are 18 In this story, even though they don't act like they're 18 and acts more like they're canonical 14-year-old self, "And I felt that was creepy. Because I read the books when I was younger and frankly I thought it would be an interesting challenge,

Written ownership, But the guy has no interest in using it for any sex, He just wants to save his best friend (And girl, he has a major crush on)And won't stop at anything to do it.. This is a young 14-year-old boy who was raised right by his mother, So he's not going to do any coerced sex or any sorts of sex Because he's also demisexual, And he's still trying to figure out that if he romantically likes Annabeth.,(Yes)

But still that does meaning taking complete control over multiple ( gods/desses) to get out information and then releasing them when he has no other use with a caveat of them not being able to hurt him

So to answer your question, It's the choose Your Own adventure. That would really attract me to That's what really attracts me to use this platform.

If characters are depicted as underage, please report the content.

If that is the most important thing, why can't the characters just be 18 already?

Also, it might be possible to create a clone of the site for non-erotic interactive fiction stories.
