Why’d you start writing?

I’m just curious what influenced you all to write (specifically erotica considering the website we’re on).

I kind of have two answers! For one, I’ve always enjoyed online ERP but struggled to find partners that I meshed with consistently. Not to mention I could *never* find a partner who was interested in a harem story (completely understandable, since it would likely put a lot of weight on their shoulders lol).

then, I also wanted to just have a creative outlet to improve my writing. I’ve always loved writing since I was small, but every time I’ve sat down to write a novel it fell apart. To be fair, my ‘normal’ writing isn’t erotic, so that much differs here lol.

With the pressure of *needing* to practice writing combined with the desire to have a story I dreamed of reading exist, I started writing here!

weirdly, I didn’t even start with an idea I’d pitched around to writers to do an ERP with. I based my story ‘I am NOT a Hero!’ on stuff I’d been watching/ reading recently (with my own take, of course; the only thing I kinda lifted from my inspiration was the character Kate’s personality and look).

anywho, I’d love to hear why you all started!

I always liked writing since I was a child. Naturally back then it wasn't porn lol

I was a lurker on this site for years before I finally decided to write something myself. It really was just out of a whim. If I had to give a reason it probably was quite similar to yours. I'm a big fan of body control and that's not a fetish you encounter very often, hence "Generic Body Control Story" was born.

I've written for myself for years, did a stint as a freelance writer for RPGs in college, did a stint as a technical writer right after I graduated. Published a few books on my own, maintain a blog, etc.

But what started me on writing porn? Here? Trump 1.0. I was stressing bad, doomscrolling every fucking day. I needed a release. Trying to write 2-4 chapters of smut a day helped distract me from the overwhelming political shitshow.

I've always liked writing and roleplaying, but I'd never tried writing anything erotic before, and I wanted to give it a go. There were a few writers on here whose work I really liked, but I never quite had the inspiration to start my own story until I saw Solo Erotic Roleplaying and thought of bringing Luxara into it.

So, simply enough, this was just something new for me to try and get better at. Which also explains why I'm always begging for feedback! :)

I think the biggest reason for me was being unsatisfied with what's out there. Of course there's some really well written stuff on this site and elsewhere, but not much that really fits my specific preferences.

I like unique worlds, plots, characters and concepts, and I don't care much about immersing myself via visualization. And it feels really unsatisfying to me when the main character(s) is/are illogical. So I wanted to write to explore the kinds of interesting ideas I wished other people would write about.

As for why I like this site specifically, it's fun for me to explore explicit sexual themes and scenes, and I really like cyoas, and especially what can be done with game mode.

  6. In general, I've been writing fiction for as long as I can remember. In recent years, however, as I have developed a desire to actually put my work out there and engage with others. I was initially looking at doing so on websites like Scribble Hub and Royal Road and, whilst browsing the forums of one or the other, this site was mentioned. I had never really considered writing smut, though I had no strong aversion to it, but a few of the stories - or it might be best to describe them as collections of stories - really drew me in, especially Monster Isekai (the one I first began to contribute to), and I found myself overflowing with ideas.

I have so far committed to three or four of them but I have folders and files on my computer practically full to bursting with ideas for branches in public/moderated stories and private stories of my own.

    Simple answer?

Couldn't find anything that I wanted to read, so I said, "fuck it, I'll write it myself".

It seemed like a fun way of getting all the crazy ideas out of my head (my imagination is crazy :p) and into the world through paper

That’s really interesting! For me, it’s a mix of wanting to explore certain themes and also just having a place to let my creativity flow freely. Like you, I’ve always been into writing, and erotica gives me the chance to explore different types of characters and relationships. Plus, there’s something about pushing boundaries in a safe space that’s really motivating!
