"Hector, is my master." She commented with a raised eyebrow. "I was just wondering... Do you plan to stay at that place?" She asked. "You have no intention of returning to Haven tonight?"
“Is that a problem?” I ask. “If you need to return to the Haven I’m certain I will be fine. You can return to Hector after you have dropped me off.”
Clara paused for a moment, before deciding to answer. "Not at all." She said as she turned of the engine. She took out a phone. "I will have a place booked by the time you return." She answered as she glanced up, at the library. After a moment, she turned to Chloe, her eyes sharp, filled with something old... joyful. "Good hunting." She wished, a small smile on her lips.
I smile and leave the car. I’m dressed sportily: tight yoga pants and a white crop top. I head into the library, but I’m not here for any books. I only want one thing: the cute older librarian. I make a beeline for Lexi’s office, hoping to find her there.
The library stood tall in the night. It was an old building, made of cream-like stone with sculptures and stylised windows. The night seemed to be still young, so there were people going around. Curious, that in the age of digital data, many came to seek knowledge of paper. As Chloe moved pass several tables a few people turned to look at her, but non made a move to talk to her. All kept silent and civil. She reached the office, but found it closed.
I winced. I had hoped that I would be lucky and find Lexi in her office. I could see that I would have no such luck. I laughed thinking of Clara’s “Good hunting” remark. “Time to capture my prey,” I say as I turn and head to the section of the library where I first encountered my obsession.
Chloe moved to the spot where she first saw Lexi, but as she made her way there, she paused as her attention was brought to the lower floor. There, a familiar red-headed librarian was talking to another woman. Both were carrying books and were talking to each other quietly, as they slowly made their way deeper into the library. They seemed to be friendly...
Interesting. I think as I decide to follow. Calling upon the blood I heighten my hearing to see if I can make out anything being said as I keep my distance.
Chloe easily slid behind the two, as they were paying no mind to anyone who could be listening to them. "...Are you sure it wasn't a dream?" She heard a soft tone. "Who are you taking me for?" Lexi replied. "Someone who was not laid for months." The woman replied. "And suddenly here you are, sleeping not just with handsome man, but also sexy woman?" There was a tone of playful disbelief in her voice. "You say it could not have happened?" Lexi asked. "Are you doubting my skills? My sway of hips, my move of lips, my blink of eyelids?" Lexi demonstrated the sway as she spoke, making her friend chuckle.
A man? Hmm, this bears further investigation. I think before calling upon my blood to give me preternatural speed to close the distance before either woman can react, “Excuse me, I seem to be lost. Can one of you help me find the reference section?”
The turned to face her, Lexi paused, a recognition drawing on her face. Her companion, also turned to look at Chloe. "Ah, you will find it near the entrance - just as you entered, it was on the right side, near the wall." She replied easily, her tone pleasant.
I smiled at Chloe and turn to her colleague. “How silly of me. I must have walked right by it. Perhaps I could borrow your coworker. I’d hate to get turned around again. I might die of embarrassment.”
Lexi's companion blinked, with a suspicion in her eyes, then smiled. "It's not problem, I will take you there!" She said as she pud down books on closest table. "Come!" The short haired woman said as she waved Chloe to follow her.
I look longingly at Lexi as I start to follow the other woman. I mouth, “Come find me, " as we disappear out the door. “I’m sorry for my ditzy behavior, but before we go to the reference section, I filled out a form for a library card the other day. Can we check the status of my application first?”
The woman blinked. "Of course." She paused. "Yesterday you say?" She lead the Vampire to other section of the building, an office. She sat down in front of the desk and took out a small stack of papers. "You name?" She asked as she started moving her fingers throught the sheets.
I smile at the woman across the desk. “Chloe Love. By the way, I don’t think I’ve seen you here before. I would have noticed.”
The woman I stayed focused on papers. "Chloe..." She frowned as she could not find the paper. "I did not see you earlier as well... you could not have been coming here if you are just making library card..."
“I did just move to the area,” I say, getting up to walk around beside the short-haired woman as she looks. I lean over next to her, pretending to be looking at the papers, my breast lightly grazing her shoulder. ”I happened to fill out one with your colleague Lexi.”
"I can't seem to find-" The woman paused and looked at Chloe with narrowed eyes as soon as the name was dropped. "Lexi?" She raised an eyebrow at Chloe questioningly.
“Yes, she was so helpful. And she quite beautiful too,” I say nonchalantly. “Not that you aren’t extremely attractive.”
