"Ah, yes. Americans have a... reputation." She chuckles. She easily takes Chloe's hand into her own, taking pleasure in the vampire's closeness.

"Wait, favourite? Does that mean you have others?" She asked, with a mock pain in her voice as the two slowly made their way through the city.

Chloe's attention turned toward to one seated man, who seemed to be hiding something under the jacket.

I begin in my best hurt voice. “Lexi, there’s no other girl, I swear.”

I gently nudge the older blonde away from the man. “And what did you mean by reputation? I hope you are prejudging me based on the worst of my countrymen.”

"Oh? What a specific phrase~" Lexi smiled, then put her hand on her chin. "Oh, does that mean you have men as well?" She asked, eyes widening.

As she looked at the man, he slowly took of a cylindrical object wrapped with paper... And put it to his lips, drinking. It looked like he was drinking an alcohol.

"Oh!" Lexi hummed, surprised, then shook her head. "No, I mean the culture of work. Like, the saying? You know the one?" She asked, as she looked at the blond with raised eyebrow.

I look into Lexi’s eyes. “That Europeans work to live and Americans live to work?”

I giggle a bit, acting shy and demure. “I like both men and women. Well, I like one particular woman.”

"That one!" Lexi snapped her fingers, then grabbed a pole as vehicle started shaking lightly, when it took a turn.

"Then there is saying about healthcare... Guns..." She continued counting with her fingers a smile dancing on her lips. "Well, that are all cultural differences, I guess~"

    The paused.

"Oh, don't think I didn't notice that your did not say anything about other partners-"

The vehicle stopped and door opened.

"Ah this is our place." She got out to a small but old looking plaza. There were many old buildings and few new ones... That simply did not match. Then there was a roundabout and a small freespace in the middle, that was mostly occupied by parked cars.

"Come on - it's not far." Lexi started walking and pointed at one of buildings. "There! On the first floor."

“I don’t wish to talk about America or partners. Why would I when I have you on my arm?” I say with a shy smile.

I let the woman lead me. I start thinking about later. Of me tasting her. Letting her drink from me. “It does seem like you are having fun. If your teasing of me is any indication.”

"Of course." The redhead easily agreed. She then paused, her eyes going wide. "Partners... not partner, but partners!" She choked, then chuckled. "You are pulling my leg!" She shook her head and lead Chloe to the building, then by the door, up the stairs to a restaurant. It was rather cosy, the furniture seemed old, and there were quite a few plants here and there.

The two sat down. Soon, and indu looking waiter walked up to the table and put the menu in front of each of them.

"Hmm..." Lexi hummed as she checked the table. "It's been years since I was here." She admitted. "Maybe Aloo Tikki?" She glanced at Chloe. "Or a soup?"

“I didn’t mean at one time…” I say before playfully whispering. “Unless you would like that.”

I stare at the menu, not sure what to get. “Uhmm, sorry for being such a tourist, but this is not the standard fare on an American menu. Could you suggest what is good to eat?”

I say the last part seductively while staring intensely into Lexi’s eyes.

    Lexi thought for a moment.

"I would suggest zander marinated in Indian spices, with baked zucchini and lemon, served with ginger-tomato sauce and naan bread." She paused. "And strawberry cocktail." She added with a smile. "The fish is spicy but they also give a super spicy sauce, which can make the dish really hot. They also serve it with salad." Lexi suggested.

She leaned forward, putting her elbows on the table and looking into Chloe's eyes with fascination.

"I thought you would not come." She said after a moment. "That this was a dream."

I smile, “Listen to you, my beautiful gourmet connoisseur.”

I lay down the menu and look deep into Lexi’s eyes. “You think of me as some fleeting ethereal spirit? I was beginning to think you were avoiding me. I did come back and leave my address for you to find me.”

    Lexi frowned.

"I don't know. I meet you only two... three times? And once I thought you were with someone else as well..."

She became silent as the waiter arrived.

Chloe's attention went to the man. It was subtle, but there was something unnatural about the man. He seemed mortal, but there was just something about him that was... Off.

"...and you miss?" Chloe realised that Lexi already placed her order and the waiter turned to her.

I eye the waiter suspiciously. “Sorry, I got distracted. I’ll have the Zander marinated in Indian spices, with baked zucchini and lemon, served with ginger-tomato sauce and naan bread," I pause before adding. And a strawberry daiquiri.”

I wait for the waiter to leave before asking, “Do you know him?”

    Lexi smiled, hearing Chloe's order.

"Huh?" She blinked as she looked after the man. "No... not really." She said as she thought for a moment. "I think I saw him serve dishes a few previous times I was here, but he never stood out..." She turned to look at Chloe. "Why?" A smile crept on her face, and the blond could feel her leg touching her own under the table, slowly moving along her shin. "Caught your eye? You know, looking after someone else on a date... I will get jealous ~" She chuckled.

I smile at Lexi. “For a second, I thought perhaps he was my competition.”

I reach across and lay my hand on the top of the cute librarian’s hand. “You do not need to be jealous. The only person I’m fascinated by is you.”

Lexi blinked and looked after the man.

"Huh." She hummed as she observed him for a moment. "I can't see it." She shook her head. "He is quite bland..."

Lexi's fidgeted lightly at Chloe's touch. She bit her lower lip for a moment.

"Such a tease~" She smiled, as her fingers lightly traced over Chloe's. "Tell me more about yourself. I know so little..." She requested.

I smile at the Librarian, suddenly finding myself shy. “Me, well, I’m American from the South. Please don’t hold that against me. I’ve not been in Warsaw for too long. I came over to spend time with a friend, but things happened. Now I’m staying with an old relative. As for hobbies, I do enjoy books. Mostly fiction romance and fantasy, to be more exact.”

    Lexi smiled.

"Then you came to a good country - the poles as well as our neighbours are known for writing best fantasy!" She declared with enthusiasm. She then paused. "Oh, don't worry, I won't judge you.... Too harshly~" She added a smile dancing on her lips.

As she was to answer, the same waiter returned with their meals.

He put an empty dish in front of Chloe, then to the side dishes with fish, bread and snacks.

"Enjoy your meal." He said then departed, leaving the two to enjoy their meal.

I never look up at the server, instead focusing solely on Lexi. “Yes, I’ve heard of Sapowski. His Witcher series is quite popular back in the U.S.”

I take a sip of my cocktail and lean back. “But the Pole I’m currently interested in is a lovely woman who tends to books rather than writes them.”

    Lexi grinned, then started chuckling.

"Ahhh... Sapowski... I did not even notice that leaving one letter from his surname will make it sound soo ridiculous." She shook her head. "Sapkowski, yes, he is quite popular with Witcher. The games and both TV serries only made it more popular. Ziemiański's 'Achaja' serries is also great. It's also fantasy, but lighter and more entertaining. It's a serries about young foolish noblewoman, her fall growing up as a person to become one of greatest and most dangerous people in the world. Not to mention the entertaining duo of charlatans, who make their way into nobility and reform the stale world. Then there was a plot of Wizard who made pact with a demon.... Damn, I will have to re-read it. The humour there was something else..." Lexi shook her head. "There are also others, quite as good as those." Lexi said with passion, ready to speak more about books.

At Chloe's words, she paused, words dying on her lips, her cheeks becoming redder. Only shutter escaped her mouth, and after a moment she decided to eat instead of speaking.

My face reddens as I push blood into my cheeks. “The consonants p and k aren’t usually found together in English. I hope you only got a good laugh and don’t think less of me.”

I begin to eat my food, feeling the spice, but not in the same way I did when I was alive. Now, only one thing excites my palate, and that is that sweet red vitae. “This is good. I wonder if it will be the most delicious thing I taste tonight?”
