Hey folks, I'm going into this with exceedingly low expectations as this kink is seemingly an extremely uncommon one! But I've been working on my first foray into smut - a story focussing on particularly filthy zombies enjoying the flesh of the living in sating their lust rather than hunger. I plan to flesh it out as much as I can before trying to convert it into a RPG Maker game, commissioning some CG and seeing how well it does. I immediately clicked on this, not realizing it was my favourite story on CHYOA. While I'm not sure if something beyond writing and roleplay would be for me as far as zombie smut goes, I do look forward to seeing what becomes of things and hope it goes well. Equally I look forward to potentially adding a chapter branch or such in the future. Thank you for your fantastic work and the passion you've put into it! Oh and for what it's worth, I concur. Undead smut and eroticism really is the definition of niche. Very few examples of writing, art and other media that actually delve into it and by extension, people who're into it.
Definitely niche, but I'm kind of into it. I'm kind of into most things, though, so take that with a grain of salt. As an avid player of erotic games, I suggest staying away from RPG Maker unless geography (ie. the placement of elements relative to each other) is a critical part of your game. In my experience, having to walk around everywhere absolutely kills pacing. I recommend using Ren'Py instead, or Twine if you're looking for something web-based.

I was on the fence about making the movement automatic and utilising some assets I got from humble bundle ages ago (along with the engine itself) but I may look at something a bit more suited for visual novels rather than using a turn based engine for what is almost entirely narrative. Hmm.
Visual novel would be great and parallels CHYOA pretty well to boot. It might be a little out of the scope of things, but a Fallout mod could also be fitting. Specifically the fade-to-black and dialogue pop-ups it's known for, particularly F3 and FNV. I'd like to think it wouldn't be too hard to pull off as something more text and prompt-based. Ghouls could also be a stand-in as far as actual models go. That's assuming there aren't already some great or sufficiently gross (brow wag) zombie replacers out there. Just food for thought, mind. I know you want something that's more your own.
Yeah, I think I may need to weigh the cost of art assets across the engines too. I like the Fallout idea! But as you say, I'm more leaning towards having my own thing, plus I feel like releasing something on DLSite and Itch.io (hopefully the latter is still doable these days...) will reach more eyes and hopefully kickstart similar projects by other people. Selling it would also make spending hundreds on official art a bit easier as it would likely cover the costs. Also; oops. I should have created this thread with my proper account!
It's all good! I guess funding would be the hardest part. Not just in the general sense, but I know many of the services for it are pretty strict on NSFW content. Patreon cracked down hard, Ko-Fi is a no-go and I think Kickstarter frowns on certain, or most adult content. A shame, really, but I understand from their investor's and company credibility point of view. (Even CHYOA itself has had a hard time with funding for the same reasons.) I guess Subscribestar would be the go-to for now, for extra funding. Sprites or pixel art could be a good way of cutting asset cost. It's both easier and cheaper to do and could fit the theme of things nicely. Obviously full-3D assets are going to be the hardest, but not the most costly. I think there's a lot of decent and upcoming artists out there who'll jump for joy at getting a fixed-term contract or long-term commission, so don't be afraid to propose something like that. Not saying a single artist or person has to do ALL the art or assets, but you might be able to get a big discount and in-turn guarantee them a comfortable payday in the process.
True! Ci-en seems like a solid plan, given I'm going to try and get it released on DLSite. Apologies for the delayed reply by the way. I'm planning to see if the current cover artist gets on well with the most popular ending, determined by a poll after I wrap up the last couple routes, then use the image to gauge interest and get some followers or even funding if people are so inclined.
