The Tower of Voices Voting Thread

I would keep it in the same story. Only downside I see is storymap becoming unwieldy

 

As much as I would like to see the same story continued, I feel the huge chapter depth count might be intimidating for new readers.

In that sense I think a new story would be better, especially for the added exposure. I still would do one more update on the old story once you start the new one to get everyone informed about the move.

I said it already but let me use this opportunity again to strongly suggest you give it a major overhaul ;P

I mean I'd be fine talking to you about it over Discord. I will likely overhaul quite a bit of it indeed, but I'd be interested in hearing specifically what you believe should be overhauled and how.

You know, after how much the girls have been bitching about lately to read a harsher story, I imagine they would be pretty ruthless. Not murder level of ruthless but at least rape dungeon levels.

Yeah, Tower of Voices 2 being a new story would probably be for the best. It's a shame since ToV is the 4th longest Fantasy series on the site in terms of chapter depth, but it'll probably be less daunting for new readers. Although one thing to consider is: what happens if run 2 doesn't go nearly as long as Yulia's? Let's say, for argument's sake, MC 2 Bad Ends 30 chapters in. Does 31 pick up with the new MC? Do something similar to Monster Isekai and those types of stories, and put a new option below chapter 1 for each MC? Just want to be prepared for when we hit MC 5 or 6, especially if the difficulty goes up (which I wouldn't mind, we got our win, I'd be fine taking bigger risks on future runs). Besides that little bit of futureproofing, should be fine to do this. Longtime readers will know a lot, but the new readers will know as much as the new MC does so that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Similarly, would we want to make a new Voting Thread for ToV 2? 140 pages of posts is probably as daunting as 446 chapters.

 

I was wondering about whether to make a new thread for ToV 2. As for what happens if the MC fails, the current plan at least is that is just the end of that story. Bad ending, move on to the next one. ToV 3 time. It could be done in the same story in which case I would do it by just dropping another thread for the new chosen underneath MI style as you said. The difficulty will definitely be tweaked in some ways, though if you guys keep beating all the floor monsters and unlocking the big door at the end you will also be making future runs easier in a lot of ways so there's that as well.

 

Oh yeah, I hadn't considered there being more rewards for clearing the floor monsters on future runs, but that makes sense.

For breaking up the story, I think it's just up to you: Would you rather have a MI setup or individual stories if we get to ToV 6 or 7, which is very possible depending on how long you wanna keep up this project and also the choices of players and dice rolls. And I'm sure how long MC 2's run lasts will play a role. I honestly think either way could work.

 

Yeah, definitely something I'll have to consider.
