Suppose you are an adventurer/mage who has come across a sexy elf in the forest and since you come from a culture that encourages humans to use magic to bind non-humans, you proceed to successfully cast an enchantment and now are the proud owner of a newly enslaved elf. From the perspective of the elf, what are they experiencing? When it comes to fantasies about using magic to enhance D/s scenarios there are a variety of ways for the slave to experience their bondage. Some author's prefer the direct approach of having the magic simply puppet the slave's body, forcing them to obey orders, a prisoner in their own body. Some will rewire a person's value priorities so that defiance feels wrong and the slave feels a new desire to obey and please which they will sometimes try to justify post facto. Sometimes the slave's whole personality is rewritten, transforming them into an obedient and enthusiastic bimbo. Sometimes, though rarely, the enchantment itself is alive and uses a variety of tactics to transform a once proud creature into a simpering submissive. I have no doubt that there are other methodologies that I am missing, other ways for victims to be bound into magical obedience. Tell me in the comments below, what does a person experience when they are the victims of slave magic?
Depends on the tone of the story you're going for. Any and all of these might be viable approaches. A big part of it is the degree to which the slave-to-be consents to their new status, and how much autonomy they have in it. That might sound weird because the blowjob feels the same whether or not a magical sigil forcing the elf to suck you off, but from an emotional and intellectual level it does make a difference if she's giving a dull stare, higher brain functions suspended as she acts like a biological machine; or whether there are tears of sadness that fall down her cheeks as her body betrays her mind that is trapped conscious and aware in her body; or tears of happiness as the willing slut experiences the pleasure of tasting her beloved master; or the slave-marked elf who sucks because she fears the pain of punishment if she disobeys.
I hear you. My intention with this thread is to get the temperature of the room and see which forms of power fantasy most stimulate the prurient interest in the typical CHYOA reader, trying to gauge what interests other people. The macro socio-economic effects of such magics are what most fascinate me, how a society evolves when it takes it for granted that the slaves are incapable of rebellion. With that said, bindings that make people mindless means that the slaves cannot use their minds for the benefit of their new owner. A setting where the slaves are encouraged to maximize their own worth, knowing that they do so for someone else's benefit, seems more dynamic than settings that treat slaves like faceless drones.
A combination of one and three really. Body control is my jam. Drones are personality rewrite just bores me. Maybe it's fun temporarily, but if the victim doesn't struggle then what's the point?
Depends on the type of story and the type of slavers. In the first one the victim's mind is a prisoner inside their body that is out of their control works for horror and certain types of slavers who wish to torment their victim. The second where the victim feels pleasure from obeying is in my opinion inherently more sexual and in some ways more "reliable" as even if the magic goes away, the slaves may still wish to obey orders and have become addicted to serving their master. The third one is a subcategory of the first one I think for bimbofication fans. ...Second and third type are less suitable for non-sexual slavery types unless the emphasis is on how kinky the slave masters are. It also matters who the POV character is. In any story where the POV is the slave, the first version may be suitable as the way the story starts, but at some point it would either have to go into "oh no, I am enjoying this" type of corruption angle, or the victim freed. Otherwise it would get boring. The bimbofication meanwhile doesn't really work for POV character as there is little left of their mind typically and thus the second option (which ultimately leads to them submitting and enjoying the servitude) is the most suitable for an erotic story about a slave.
I don't entirely disagree with you, but I can see the utility of both methods of control for non-sexual purposes. When I am writing my Seed of Truth thread in the Homo Superior story, I try to make a point of making the value control to be deeper than just lust and sexual desire. Those play a role for sure, but even the xenos who are engineers, technicians, gladiators, and marine shock troops who have little to no contact with the humans who have enslaved them still worship their owners as beings who are akin to angels. Their minds and most of their personalities are in tact, which they turn towards their master's benefit, pleasure, or both. https://chyoa.com/chapter/The-Voyages-of-The-Seed-of-Truth:-Contact!.1634400 I use the term "bimbo" as a short hand for "programmed to please" which can have its uses outside of sexual reasons, but that is a whole area of science fiction exemplified by movies like Dark City or that Babylon 5 episode about telepathically reprogramming murderers to become community service workers and Catholic monks. The one that you do not see that often, and the one I am always tempted to write, is where the slave magic is alive and can banter with the person it is in charge of overseeing.
I remember a porn comic that was not exactly about slavery, but instead daemonic corruption and genderswapping where the daemons spread by turning into a living latex costume that bonded with a human and transformed them. The daemon-costume and the transformed human both had their own minds, with the costume happily corrupting the human and it was less about the costume controlling the human and more about it making the human want to be a daemon and act like one. The two minds were permanently separate though they would communicate (one costume congratulating another for quickly corrupting a male knight into a horny succubus, for example.) Tangentially related to this topic. And sorry for assuming that any slavery story discussed on CHYOA would be sexual slavery.
Value manipulation and personality manipulation are my usual preference, especially value. I think it's that switch going off in a person that I find really exciting. Forceful manipulation can be difficult for me to get into. Having grown up reading the Animorphs series, I'm well aware of the kinds of horror this type of control creates. Your active manipulation does sound interesting. Like a running code that is always rewriting the subject's mind to make it act as desired. For me mind control has inherently been a secretive, forbidden thing. Something that wouldn't be openly or willingly accepted, let alone be a defining pillar of a well-adjusted society. There are stories I've enjoyed where an organization or indeed a whole society falls under control, but that new reality is usually the climax or ending for those stories. I guess what this means is that the mind control stories I enjoy most often are set at a personal or individual's level in conflict with the world around them.
For erotic slave magic... I think it is best when the original mind/personality is preserved in some way but perverted into becoming more willing. I've seen many different variations on this and I just don't like the ones where the mind is completely replaced or rewritten. Too easy, not enough internal struggle. But having the victim go from "don't, stop!" to "don't stop!" is a kink of mine and I prefer this as a slow burn thing before they fall and end up utterly subservient.
This is also my preference. The method by which the control is achieved matters a lot less to me than the degree. There has to be a process. Fictional mind control works for me when it posits that the power is finite, that you can't simply make someone do everything. When the controller has to coax people into doing things that at least part of them does want, you (can) get really interesting dynamics between the victim and controller, but even more between the victim and themself: they were forced into it, yes... but some part of them enjoyed it, and that terrifies and horrifies them. Imperfect control is even better, because that creates tension within the controller, too. How much agency do they think the victim retains? How far can they push the victim? What if something goes wrong? With complete body control you retain the ability to depict the victim's observations of their body's actions, but you still lose the ability to use the victim's body to illustrate the struggle. After all, that body is no longer under their control. You can only use their minds, and that's limiting. You also rob yourself/the reader of interactions between the victim's mind and the controller. Mindwipes and other forms of complete mind control are just boring to me, though, because at that point you might as well write a story about a sex doll with a heat element. Victims need to retain enough of their own minds to get across that what is being done to them is a violation, and you cannot violate a thing. The only exceptions I've seen are stories in which the absolute control is temporary. That way, after the control runs out, you can have the victim reflect on and struggle against both the control itself and with the effects of what they did while under said control.
The complete body control where the victim's mind is a prisoner who can do nothing but observe... will work if the victim is the POV or there is a mental connection. I did something like that in a few chapters of Shadow Succubus where the main character possesses a woman and the original soul is left hanging in a ghostly form that feels everything but can't communicate to anyone apart from the succcubus. ...Then the story progressed to the victim coming to enjoy these experiences (including seeing the possessed body seduce and drain the life out of her parents) that she ends up begging for these powers and soon becomes a succubus as well.
Depends on the story. I really enjoy internal dialogue about how their body is doing stuff against their will, but usually in context of a particularly bad person getting their comeuppance. Real life erotic hypnosis I like watching Entrancement UK and he has regulars like Honour May who enjoys the experience. But for fiction I give leeway to different levels of manipulation as it’s not real.
Combo: Victims feel degraded by their treatment, but it also turns them on which makes them feel even more shame that their degradation turns them on
Yeerks would be less of a forceful control and more of a full personality rewrite. The host might be aware, but they are not the one that people are interacting with. When I think of force manipulation, I am thinking of Kilgrave from Jessica Jones or How not to Summon a Demon Lord where the slave's body acts on its own whenever the bound person does not follow the orders themselves. Active manipulation is what happens when The Yeerk is under orders to minimize its influence. The voice is in the host's mind bantering with them, but the controller is only going to use force on the slave if the slave does not obey. Less of a puppet master pulling strings and more of an overseer who will enforce the will of the slave's master.
