High Stakes at Coyote Bluff (Wild West RP)

At the gambling table with roulette was only crupper, but he welcomed her to a game.
“How much token are you willing to bet, my lady”? Kate had 5 tokens.

 

Feeling lucky, Kate put all the tokens on one field.

She then leaned back, watching the bullet, curious, but not overly bothered with loosing the cash. The excitement of the game was enough for her.

This time Kate was lucky, she won back tokens which she lost yesterday. Cropper gives tokens for her and asked if she wanted to continue.

 

Kate thought for a moment.

"All in, the same place, again." She said as she placed all ten tokens as a bet.

And again Kate managed to win the round, now she have twenty tokens.
"My congratulations, lady. Do you wish to continue?"

 

Kate laughed loudly.

"No! Cash out~" She said as she gathered teh tokens. She changed them back to cash, then left with her winnings and went back to the saloon, to her room,.

Kate managed to go out from the casino with more money than she enter, so she could consider herself lucky. Well, she still feel pain in the butt after last night.
As she enter the saloon, barman give her a look, but he didn't ask questions.
When she enter her room, it looks like everything was in order, nothing was missing.

 

Kate changed her clothes to her usual attire and put on a poncho.

She looked outside, for a moment wondering what to do... It was little early for storing trouble inside town... So instead she searched for targets who were leaving the city - targets to rob.

Mustang finish drinking water from the river, kicking muddy ground on Jazmina boots, as she filled her canteen with fresh water. Sun gives much warm and light in the coming day, sunlight crossed branches of the big, lonely tree, as Jazmina finished packing her camp. It was five days since she crossed border from Mexico, and today she should reach Coyote Bluff, if nothing delays her on the road. Jazmina learn from the tips of travelling merchant, that Coyote Bluff is not far away. She feels urge to smoke tobacco, her morning ritual. Wind blows quietly coming from the step behind the hills, as Jazmina get on her horse.

 

Most people arrived to town by the train, so not so many travelers decided to leave Coyote Bluff by land. Not so many, but still there are few of them.
As Kate walk throught the town, she spotted single rider, as he left the bank with bag full of letters. Worker for pony express. He ride out town, heading for the East.
In the same time few settleres packed their wagon with the supplises and headed north, probably to claim some land for their new home.

 

Kate thought for a moment - the wagon was little much for her... But maybe. On the other hand, she believed she could take down the line rider easily~

Non of those two seemed profitable... But maybe one had information about the mine~

Smiling, she grabbed her things and went down. She hopped the horse and rode of the city, but moving in different direction then the rider... Then when she was out of the city, beyond it's visible borders she turned and rode to intercept the rider.

She doubted that she would catch up to him... But maybe she could catch him on his way back? She just needed to find a place for an ambush... Or maybe surprise him when he would be camping...

Kate have some luck and on her way, she managed to find courier far away from the city. He ride pretty fast, as worker of Pony Express he will soon change his horse in the station, so he could not giving rest to his horse. Kate find him on the open field.

Courier spotted Kate and rise speed of his horse. He didn't know if Kate is hostile or not, but his directive demands from him avoiding contact with strangers.

 

Kate put o bandana on her lower face as he rode after the man, trying to catch up to him.

If she failed, she would use her rifle to take him down.

Kate horse was one of the best in the army and she was good rider, so she managed to reach not far away from the courier. He spotted that Kate has bandana on her face and he pull out his rilfe, aiming at her as he stopped horse for better aim.
"Don't try get any closer or I will shoot you"! He called to her.

 

Kate also stopped her horse and aimed at him with both of her colts.

"Drop the gun and saddlebags, and I will allow you to ride away with your horse." She threatened, ready to fire at moment's notice.

 

(Threat roll d20: 1 critical failure, bonus for courier)
Men didn't answer her, only shoot to her, steady and calm.

Courier have good aim and shoot Kate in the shoulder, throwing her off the horse and making her lose her colts. Blood began spill from her wound, as she fall on the ground, feeling pain in the back.

 

Kate grunted as she fell on the ground, cursing. Next time, she will shoot first!

She grabbed the other colt and started firing at the bastard.

Kate managed to grab her rilfe and by long practice she managed to shoot at courier. Bullet barely touched his torso, making for him scratch, but nothing serious.
He aimed back at Kate.

He shoot off hat off her head, but no damagind her more.

With the rifle fired, she did not loose time reloading. She rolled grabbing one of the colts and started firing at the man.

 

(Roll for aim: d20: 17-2+2=17 success) Kate managed to shoot off the horse courier and he also fall on the ground, losing his rifle. His horse ride at Kate, to charge over her.
(Roll for dodge, disadvantage by wound d20: 8-2=6 failure)
Horse kicked Kate in the stomach and torso, making her lost her breath and losing again her colt. One more stroke and she will probably pass out.
