Let's continue our exploration for now. That fight will be a problem for later.

Oh yeah, we’ll definitely wanna save this fight for last. Guess we just have more exploring to do for now. Is there anything else we haven’t covered besides the path to the goblin cave? I wanted to save that for last, but if we’ve gone everywhere else then I guess that’s our next stop. Move cautiously and be ready to retreat if Breaker or Izzy show up. Ideally, I’d like to feed a few cultists to the spear before we get to another big fight.

I’m of two minds about this. If we fight them, we deplete their numbers and feed the spear (also I don’t mind killing these shitheads). But our goal is to talk Izzy out of this, and killing his subordinates might give the wrong impression. Take, ask if we can speak to Lord Windgrace. But don’t go into the cave, I don’t want to deal with their superior numbers. If at all possible, I want to speak to Izzy directly to try to talk him down from this.

But if we have no choice besides fighting these cultists and going deeper, Take should use the spear and her magic, and Malphiel should use the helmet and gauntlets combo like usual. We’ll save her mana to heal afterwards.

Also of note: We haven’t seen Dreg on this floor so far, which means he’s here. Iirc, he was in the goblin caves last time, and used his ability to keep Lumberer away to force the goblins to sleep with him. He’s probably worked out a similar deal with Izzy to keep Breaker from bothering the cult.

Feeding Dreg to spear might be worth the trouble, but Take may not yet be ready for that fight.

Peaceful discussion with Izzy is really preferable now.

Gonna operate under two assumptions based on my understanding of The Tower and how it handles challenges. 1. There is absolutely room for us to talk Izzy out of this (and room for us to make him stay like this). 2. We’ll probably have to fight him even if we want to talk him down.

And so, I see three options on what to do. 1. Fight our way in. 2. Meet him diplomaticly. 3. Delay.

I’m inclined to go with 3. We should top off our health and mana in case this first meeting turns into a fight. And as things stand, it might be better to take down Breaker (whose abilities we know) and get his item drops, so we have more tools against Izzy.

That said, we could try option 2 right away and hope for a peaceful outcome. If we do go with option 2, we also have to consider whether to send the whole party in or just Take. Take is better suited to escape safely on her own, but we’d be losing Malphiel’s firepower.

I’m leaning towards heading to the floor entrance, resting, taking on Breaker if he shows up, and having Take come back here alone if the Breaker fight doesn’t happen.

I agree that a rest before the fight is advisable.

Let's go back and have, hopefully friendly, words with Lord Windgrace.

Also Dreg is diing solid best to make sure he becomes spear-fodder.

Yeah, we should try speaking to Izzy now. But I think Take should go in alone. For one, Malphiel is more susceptible to enemies like the cultists. For another, I’d rather Take get what info she can about why Izzy is doing this and, ideally, what powers he might have and then withdraw so we can strategize. Take, present it as “I am meeting with you alone to show I mean no harm.” Ideally we talk him down, but realistically we will have to fight Izzy himself or maybe someone/something corrupting him. (Malia could be behind this, as an example). If a fight breaks out, Take on her own can exchange a few blows to get an idea of how Izzy fights and then withdraw.

Take, first, tell Izzy that voices remember Isalia and Goma and would very much like to see them.

Then ask him tell his story about his rise to Lord Windgrace, and if it seems at all relevant, ask about anyone prodding him on this path.

Finally invite him to join you on your travel through the tower like her mother accompanied Yulia once.

Remember what Miss-Emmie said last tome about fighting.

This was busy week for me while travelling. Sorry for the late reply.

No worries, Real life comes first. I appreciate you and everyone else, devoting any of your time to this.

    Aw jeez, Izzy’s a redditor.

I think Huginn is on the right track, but I’d like to shift the order and approach a bit. Izzy has taken up an ideology that women are inferior to men, so it would be best not to challenge him at first. First, Take, introduce yourself briefly and give him the opportunity to do the same. There’s a lot we know about him by now but what he chooses to say and chooses not to say will give us some insight into his personality. Latch onto what he gives you to continue the conversation in the direction he wants it to go, at least at first. If he mentions what he wants from a Chosen (likely to become a companion and explore the Tower) ask about his motive and his abilities. If he brings up Ash Meddai, mention that the previous Chosen killed him before Izzy was born and get some insight into where Izzy’s interest in him comes from. If he mentions his parents being companions of the previous Chosen, ask where Goma and Isalia are.

He’s obviously very excited to have a Chosen here, there’s something he wants. But he’s also built a cult around misogyny, and he’s enslaved the very goblins who raised him and effectively banished his moms to keep them from interfering. Play along long enough to get the info we need (his abilities, motives, the reason for founding this cult, and feelings about Goma and Isalia) but I think he’ll say something that crosses the line. I think there’s room for him to be a companion, that’s the ideal outcome for a couple of reasons. But we’ll ultimately have to test how he handles Take pushing back on things, and once we have the info we can get we’ll have to test that out. “How fragile is his ego?” is essentially the question I need answered before I can trust him as a party member, given his current circumstances. That and how loyal is he to the Tower Below, since we’ve decided to largely side against them.
