What happens if you accidentally break the rules on a story? Is it just you have to take down and redo the chapter that it happened? Or is your account banned? For a more specific example, I'm thinking of doing a story that might tiptoe the lines of bestiality. I'm thinking of adding things like facehuggers, or insects with ovipostion, and a strict reading of the rules would indicate that that isn't allowed, but I've seen other stories on here with those kind of things. I don't want to add something like that, accidentally cross the line and get banned. Thanks for any information you can provide.
My experience in past cases where rules have been broken by me or owners of stories I have contributed to: the page will be temporarily made unavailable for viewing by others and you will be given instructions for what to change. Once those changes are made, you notify the mod and they unlock it. As always it's basically Step 1: try not to break the rules and Step 2: if you do break the rules, just gracefully make the change and move on I'll let somebody else comment if that specific case violates the rules but when in doubt: don't! Lol
This was my experience too. I had a typo in one of my chapters and put a guys age down as 16 instead of 26. It was an obvious error that i'd missed in the edit. The page got frozen and mods let me know the issue, one quick fix later and it was back up and running.
I'm not to familiar with the rules around animals and aliens etc, but, folks on here are usually pretty helpful with their advice. If you're not sure about the specifics of a scene or the set up, lay it out in here in the forum and I'm sure someone who knows this stuff well will give you some guidance. There's also a discord channel for chyoa to, they're also super helpful so that might be a good place to go through this stuff.
If they are depicted in a sexual situation and don't pass the Harkness test, it would violate the rules. Please report such content. You can ask before writing or publishing a chapter. Most issues can be solved with some adjustments or even careful wording. Making the story follow the rules right away might be easier than having to rewrite a whole branch because everything was built on something that violates the rules. Feel free to send me a message of the concept or even a drafted paragraph/chapter if you aren't sure.
