That's probably the cause since Chyoa uses SNI for SSL encryption. On XP you could use Opera > 8 with TLS 1.1 activated, or Chrome > 6, or Firefox > 2.
Opera Version 12.16 Build 1860 / Platform Mac OS X System 10.8.5. The internal Opera app update service lists "No Updates Available".
Updated, works now. Version: 26.0.1656.24 - Opera is up to date Update stream: Stable System: Mac OS X 10.8.5 64-bit
Seeing timeouts from Cloudflare on the story site (chyoa.com). Cloudflare has really pleasant-to-read error pages and their "more info" pages also appear helpful. https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/200171926-Error-524
The main page seems to cause more problems than other pages. With direct links I can (slowly) access to other sites and also navigate most time. The forum often shows "An unexpected database error occurred. Please try again later." Edit: now it seems to work without problems
Thanks for the info yesterday. I had to restart MySQL because the memory usage of the database was too high (that was at the time when you submitted your post, Trugbild). I've used StatusCake for monitoring but it seems as if this service can't detect the error pages of CloudFlare (that is why I've noticed the problem so late). I've now switched to Pingdom which seems to be compatible with CF.
Can't add an avatar. Tried on IE and Chrome but just get "A server error occurred. Please try again later." Every time.
I was going to report the chyoo logo being absent since the crash, but it seems to have since been fixed. There is one other little glitch I notice on my android tablet. The top row of links, including the forum link, are missing in portrait mode. The chyoo logo is there, and on the right I see notifications, bookmarks, and username drop-down list. In between, however, is a big blank spot. Normally it has three links: Discover and explore, All Categories, and Chyoo Forum. In landscape mode they show. In portrait they don't. Someone on a desktop pc with a rotating monitor might want to see if it happens there. The browsers I've been using are CM Browser and UC Browser
It's not exactly a bug, but anyway..this is what happens to the story map when (I guess) it gets too large (the story is "at the cabin", I use firefox) Spoiler
Known issue with Firefox that it stops indenting after 95 threads deep. (95 threads deep! What a story!) -Z.
Clicking on Begin the story for the following story leads to some weird CloudFlare page showing search results. http://chyoa.com/story/sher-the-stripper-gets-blacked/cover
Thanks. DaveInShersPanties has apparently deleted the first thread of his story. That's the reason why you see the 404 page.
For the advanced search, putting the POV as "Male" also shows stories with a "Both Male and Female" POV. There's already a "Both Male and Female" option, and if I wanted to see those stories, I'd set that as the POV that I'm searching with, rather than just plain "Male." Can you fix this?
Can you give me an example? I've tested the advanced search with several options but could find no inconsistency.
