Private, not publicly displayed timezones. For information purposes. Not a huge deal, but particularly with the on-site time formatting I find it hard to keep track of what "Today/yesterday at XX:XXpm" *means* when I look at a message or at a user profile for status. This is compounded by the fact that things start at X minutes ago, an hour ago, and then jump to a new format that is not in my time zone. If there was a way that, in settings somewhere, I could select my time zone that would make things less disorienting for me, personally.
Changing the timezone itself is already an option. On the forum, Method 1: Hover your cursor over your username on the top right of any forum page (do not select it). Select "Preferences." Select your timezone. Select "Save Changes." On the forum, Method 2: Select your username on the top right of any forum page. In bar on the left, five links under "Settings" is one labelled "Preferences." Select it Select your timezone. Select "Save Changes." On the main site: On the top right of any non-forum page is an arrow. Select it. On the dropped bar, select "Settings." The second category "Locale" allows you to select your timezone. Select "Save Changes." The main problem is, however, there's no clock present anywhere on site to ensure the selected timezone is correct and accounts for DST, or to alert us if we unknowingly misclicked. Something to confirm our selection would be useful, but timezones themselves are already an option.
