"Edit silently" should be the default behaviour

Currently, you have to check that "edit silently" box to edit your chapter without it being tagged and updated with a new date.

Imho, and from my humble point of view, because i mostly edit chapters to fix simple typos, and not to do a major restructure, this should be exactly the other way around: To edit silently should be the default behavior.

A checkbox should be available for those who wish their chapter be seen as visibly updated.

    Agreed.

EDIT: I too mostly edit for typos and small refinements, remembering to click a 'show as edited' button would be much better than having to remember to click a "edit silently" button, because if you forget you can always go back just to click it.

It would be enough to have the box checked by default.

That seems a quite elegant solution.

    That would work as well!

Agree. It seems unnecessary to even have it. It should be automatic. Once posted any edits should be silent.

No, there could be major edits where a whole chapter is rewritten, or several paragraphs added, maybe also some hidden conditional paragraphs in game mode.

The distinction has its merit. I still agree that edit silently should be default.

Oh good god yes in game mode. I can't tell you how many edits I have to do sometimes to debug my if then statements.
